    C'mooooon other stores price matching!

  • Are there massive diff between this and the OLED version?

    • Performance wise? no. The OLED screen just looks nicer and is slightly larger

      • +8

For the price difference when the OLED was on sale the other day for $400 I'd go for that. Even though I don't play it much handheld as I don't commute as much, but my god it's night and day when you do play on handheld mode that's for sure.

        • Which shop did it get to 400?

          • @JeBs:

whilst you buy them at this bargain price for yourself (for a quick resale)

Considering one can easily be had for $415 at JB, I doubt they'd go for any higher than $400 on the second hand market. Between either eBay fees or wasting time with buyers on Gumtree/Marketplace, I doubt many people would bother doing that for $50 a unit.

            • @tomsco: That depends on your sales technique.

I’d sell them via my own website and avoid eBay fees altogether. Can’t stand eBay’s / PayPal’s buyer complaint policies which don’t give sellers a chance. I remember selling items on eBay.

On one occasion a dodgy buyer dropped a camera I sold them into water, and successfully claimed a full refund. I know as the camera was returned with water inside. On another occasion, a buyer sent me their old dirty headphones as faulty, in exchange for the brand new ones I sent them. Once again, eBay backed the buyer and refunded in full. On a third unrelated occasion, eBay shutdown 3 eBay selling accounts I owned (they cross referenced my name apparently) all because I phoned during the onset of the pandemic, and mentioned I would need to post a little late due to pandemic related issues. That shutdown resulted in the sales history link (shown to buyers) going back years, disappearing from all my ads. And it could never be reinstated. That was the last straw.

I won’t bother with eBay ever again and encourage other sellers to avoid, due to their support of fraudsters in the past. PayPal are no better, but hard to avoid given how ubiquitous their payment system is.

And to be fair, probably nothing has changed policy wise since, to protect sellers more.

              • @JeBs: Again, is it really worth it for what would be a $50 mark up to compete against an accessible nationwide chain that is selling it for $415? You'd have to sell a tonne to make it worth it.

            • @tomsco: Wait until inflation leads to prices rises on the OLED edition. This “old release” will have its day at that point, and easily worth $450. So assume $100 per unit. And I only buy in tonnes.

    • Googling “switch vs oled switch” will tell you all you need to know.

    • +1

Basically just a bigger screen which is OLED, 64GB storage, and a wider kickstand. The hardware is exactly the same as the previous Nintendo Switch

      • +1

Storage is irrelevant, given a cheap microSD will suffice to boost storage massively.

  • Nice price, pulled trigger earlier to get the oled one from bigw eBay. Waiting for discount on games….

      1. Nintendo.
      2. Discounted games.

      Pick one.

Not a nice price - AN AMAZING PRICE!

      Bargain of the year potentially.

        • -1

Lol. That was a pricing error obviously.

          • @JeBs: Still…was the bargain of the year for those who got it.

      • +7

I wouldn't say $348 for a console released in 2017, which was based on the Nvidia Shield Tablet from 2014, is "amazing"…

        • -4

The world is a very different place now considering inflation. You’d pay around half for a used car back then. The days of cheap consoles is long gone.

Standard of many games by Nintendo are unmatchable by anything on Shield.

The quality of hardware is also beyond comparison, and massively weighted in favour of Nintendo.

            JoyCon drift says hi.

            • -2

@PainToad: Lol. I’ve owned about 10 of these controllers and have never experienced a bit of drift.

The Shield on the other hand just looks stupid.

        • I'm new to handheld games. Are you saying this Switch item has only released one version and this is still the same one from 2017? What other handheld game devices are in competition with the Switch?

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]: 2017 nintendo switch released
2021 switch oled released (exactly same internals)

nothing is in competition with the switch cause its nintendo, their games are why you buy this. Plus theres really no other handheld console
No reason for them to upgrade when they are still flying off the shelves and set to surpass ps4 easily. Maybe early 2024 a pro model will come out but it will be just like the ps4 pro.

  • Wow return to the price of 4 years ago

    • -4

It should hold its value well due to inflationary pressures, and relative to the OLED, it’s a staggering discount for essentially the same hardware.

  • +1

I love the switch and a good price at that

A lot of the games you can pick up right where you left off during your downtime

I play docked 95% of the time so the OLED isn't worth it personally but the v1 switches are still number 1

  • Thanks, price match @JB use the perks coupon $338 and let’s go!!!

    • -5

Your privacy is not worth sacrificing, unless you are remunerated attractively. This company that will likely use the details linked to the “perks” coupon to spy on you through tracking cookies and perhaps other methods (because you granted them permission by signing up) and then bombard your email box with infinite junk to entice you to buy their overflowing stock.

Essentially, the coupon is nothing more than an income generating tool at the consumer’s expense.

Nothing wrong with that from a legal perspective, but I think that privilege ought to be worth $100 - not $10.

      • You’re probably the type of person that has multiple emails trying to claim the $10 coupon
If ya don’t like something Just move on

        • -1

You’re either a confederate of JB, or part of a company that enjoys using questionable marketing ploys to self-profit - with no regard for consumer privacy because the law allows it.

However, trust takes time to earn, yet can be destroyed very quickly.

And in any most businesses these days, trust is everything.

Tracking customers should be abolished by law

Regardless, companies that do it are unethical and JB are one of them.

    • No issue with that? I'm considering the same but mindful of the wording on the coupon.

Redeemable coupon discount value of $10 is calculated off the current ticket or promotional price.

I guess you could argue the price match is the "promotional" price.

  • Not worth it until a full-blown jailbreak comes out for the system at this stage in its lifecycle no?

    • -2

Great price for a flip and most know that.

      • +1

        Can't flip at this price.

        Heaps on marketplace for $200-$300..

        • -2

Lol. Used, yes. Brand new, keep dreaming.

          • +2

@JeBs: You selling it brand new, on a second hand market without a receipt, support or warranty.

Because you aren't an authorised reseller.

            Isn't brand new buddy.

@stickymoo: A response like yours exemplifies why it’s important to finish high school.

Support an international conglomerate, who through their business practices, may have ruined many small retailers. Not to forget, Amazon’s profits go back to the US. Alternatively, support a great Australian company with Gerry at the helm, who’s profits stay here.
