Garmin Forerunner 245 Music GPS Sports Watch $289 (Was $579, 50% off) + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

220

A decent mid-range Garmin with enough bells-and-whistles for most people. I had actually bought one as a present before the sale, but JB were kind enough to refund the difference and I got another for myself too. The 'music' in the name refers to the ability to sync up to 500 songs from Spotify to the watch so you can run with your tunes and leave the phone at home.

Also comes in white and aqua, also on sale.

Recommend. Spotify sync is patchy so I just load MP3 podcasts straight onto the storage.

    • How easy us it to load mp3s and create playlists? I am a group fitness instructor and I used to use a Fitbit Versa as my music player but uploading was very temperamental, sorta happy when it died. Does it handle other music file types like m4a?

    New model coming out soon?

    • Already able to be ordered from Garmin
      Forerunner 255

    • Yes, the 255 came out about a week ago to solid reviews. The 245 was already a generation behind some of the other models in the range (released in April 2019).
I wrestled with a Forerunner 55 or a 245 last year as they were much the same price. The 245 had some more features (e.g. Resume Later is great), but was older gen GPS and HRM… ended up going with the 55.

      • Worth noting that this is a 245 Music - in addition to additional features, and some older gen hardware, it has music playback/storage, which the 55 doesn't.

Oh man. I'm rocking a FR935 and its still solid. I held off when they released the 945, then the 945LTE…I dunno if I can resist the 955. I need it for all the triathlons I don't do.

    Good watch

Great watch. Use it several times a week for both running and cycling. Literally have had nothing bad to say about it, only thing I did was end up purchasing a Garmin HRM for a bit more accuracy.

Agreed! It is a fantastic sports watch with basic smart capabilities. I bought mine 18 mths ago for the same price and wear it from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed. I am a serious runner and run most days.

I primarily use it to track my distance but it has a plethora of other features there if and when I need them (some of which I am yet to use). Battery can last a week but I charge it approx every 6 days just to be sure it doesn't get too low.

I think this watch will last me at least another couple of years easy, although I would like a cellular watch one day so I can leave my phone at home. I can't fault my Garmin.
