    • damn didn't see that code

When i was last buying controllers a few years ago, these were mostly listed around the place at ~$30 iirc. I'm surprised this one has a list price of $60 and saying it's on sale at ~$30. Have prices for it increased that much, or is it just an inflated listing/fake sale?

    • +6

These things have always had stupid high prices, but go on special all the time. It's the Spotlight of gaming controllers.

      • +5

        They were $19 once upon a time…

        • +1

Hah, i bought it years ago when it was posted on here 😄

  • +15

This thing is so old Captain Cook used to game with it.

    • I was going to say I have one of these that is like 15 years old, was my go to before I got an xbox 360 controller.

  • +7

Really uncomfortable controller when compared with the xbox 360 ones of the same era, I dont recommend, unless you stick it in the hands of your adversary.

    • +3

I had the F710 (wireless version), and FWIW, it was probably my favourite controller of the era. Mainly for the d-pad, which was solid.

From memory, the sticks and triggers weren't great, so obviously that would make it bad for a lot of things, but for what I was playing with it, the F710 was my go to controller for a long time (until I got an Xbox Elite v1 controller).

(Didn't neg you, btw - I otherwise think what you said is fair!) :)

I still have an F710 as the "spare" gaming controller for multiplayer nights (hasn't happened since 2019). I recently switched from PS5 to Xbox controller, despite years of being a Sony fanboi I finally clicked the Xbox design is better.

It's incredibly reliable. And no one has issues using it, whereas some people seem to hate/love the Sony and Microsoft designs.

Yeah if you already have any console from the PS3/x360/WiiU era onwards, you can buy a $20 8bitdo USB adapter on ebay (or a $10 adapter if it's an x360 controller) to use those controllers on your PC.

Better build quality and control precision, plus wireless, for cheaper than this.

      • you can also use bluetooth and software to connect to the pc
and use a usb cable if you wanted wired connection.

no need to buy the 8bitdo

        • Yes, this can work for controllers that use bluetooth (which is most of them), though bluetooth USB adapters for PC are often unreliable if multiplayer gaming on the couch (more than 1m away, multiple controllers on same BT adapter, etc).

I am surprised that they still using the old Logitech logo on these things which makes me wonder if it's because they have so much old surplus stock.

  • +1

Didnt realise they still make these

    • +1

Probably stopped making these when the Xbox One was released in 2014. Still sitting on a pile of this garbage

  • Perfect, reserved 2 at my local EB to pick up after work.

PSA to anyone that buys this controller, it has a horrible deadzone on the sticks, making it an absolute nightmare for anything that requires precision movement (like shooters). Pay extra for the Xbox controller instead, your sanity will thank you.

    Video demonstrating the deadzone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM00pVNSvXc

Buy it for your kid who doesn't know any better, but otherwise avoid in my opinion.

    • +2

Someone in the youtube video comment said.

"If this is still important, then I found a solution in these comments. It is necessary to transfer the gamepad to D mode (not X) and with the help of x360se set the anti-death zone on the sticks ~ 20% (+ or - 3%)"

Can definitely recommend spending more and getting the xbox controller - you're going to have a bad time with this

    • I only went for this because it is pretty much double the price for a second hand "like new" xbox 360 controller. And I only want it to play mortal kombat 11 on the $1 xbox subscription 😂.

  • +1

can't believe this controller is still a thing even after Xbox 360 wired controllers

    • I'd love to buy one, but for a use every so often for retro pi, it perfect.

Twelve year old product. Logitech is absolutely shameless about churning out products from beyond the grave. Unforgivable

    • +1

It supports XInput so really no need to update?

Making the same product for 12 years running has gotta be about as good an endorsement as any?

  • This needs drivers or Steam or is it simply a plug n go affair ala Xbox controller?

  • +1

These are awful. Very clunky with the ergonomics from 1995.

  • +1

    This thing sucks (had one)

  • Had and used one a few years back. It wasn't too uncomfortable, though it definitely wasn't as good as the more modern Xbox One controllers.

  • what can u do with this nowadays?

    • Play games? On the pc and in a Tesla.

      • You could do many things with this with a pc or a telsa just open your mind a lil

  • Great deal for a xbox Controller. Last one, PowerA Xbox Series X Wired Controller - Black
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174543899012 $49 can use eBay Plus $20 signup voucher or 22% off PLUSFY22 or 20% off SAFY20 .
