You do need Arlo base to support it. Not sure about subscriptions.
Officeworks sells for $583. Probably can get them to pricebeat another 5%.

        Not since the Arlo Pro 2 IIRC. They removed that capability but added the capability if you have a base station to record locally.

        I have accepted that I need to pay for the cloud storage so will be paying for it once my new pair of cameras get delivered.

      From my understanding you only need the subscription if you want the Arlo Smart features, like activity zones, animal, vehicle and package detection as opposed to just standard motion detection.
