Good price, but again it will be cheaper next month

Is this a a good brand? How hot does it get? Thank you

      • +6

Google is your friend. Bro :)

    • Why? New release?

    • agree, but trying to get one before eofy.

  • +2

Even my zotic 1050ti died in 5 years, not sure how good this brand is, but should be a popular brand. R.I.P 1050ti

    • +3

Was it the single fan one ? My 1060 zotac fan died - replaced it and good as gold - still going strong after obsolescence

      • +1

Dual fan, not sure if the fans died, but glad to know this might be one of the options to fix it.

It seems difficult to find it for this exact model.

        • +2

rip the fan and shroud off and just leave the heatsink and cable tie a 92mm or 120mm fan,

        • Water block it and OC

  • How does the XFX Radeon RX 6600 XT Speedster QICK 308 compare with the Gigabyte Gaming OC?

    • Pretty sure this is superior

    • Just note that this is the non-XT version

      • The link in the post is for the XT card (where it says $419). I'd take an XFX card over a Gigabyte personally…

        • Thanks guys, just placed my order for the XFX

  • +2

    This or wait for 6700xt?

    • +2

If you can wait for the 6700XT wait, it is a far superior GPU.

      • Ok ill hodl a bit longer, prices are dropping hard and fast in the last week. I must say this is tempting though haha

    • For 1440- 6700xt
1080p get this or the 6600xt for slightly more

  • Clean looking card

  • +1

What kills me is that this gpu is actually better (on average) compared to my RTX2060.
At least according to the reviews I’ve read.
At this price, that’s super awesome.
Not enough better to justify upgrading for me, but such a great gpu for the money.

    • +1

Sell rtx2060 on fleabay, buy this and keep the change

      • +1

Not enough of a jump to justify the effort.
I also very much prefer Nvidias drivers these days.

  • PLE have had this for 399 for a while now, i guess stock wasnt moving so they've dropped another 20 off the standard price. Interesting to see whether it starts moving at 379… or if it drops again in a month to 359.

    • I dont think the stock will move much at this price either. Most people who wanted gpus have already bought and I think people who waited this long are waiting for the higher tier graphics cards to drop in price, e.g. 6700xt, rtx 3060 ti

  • Thanks Op Just bought one to replace rx 580 which will go into second system

  • What is the real difference between this, and the AsRock one that costs $30 cheaper, aside from 2 vs 3 fans design?

Aware the components are possibly better in the XFX version? Does it matter for such a low end card? Find pricing of the XFX RX 6600 kind of awkward, given the XT version is only $40 more.

Currently tossing up between AsRock RX 6600, or XFX RX 6600 XT. Performance difference is 20%, pricing difference is also 20%.

      The extra fan doesn't matter.

It it runs hotter it breaks sooner. Especially if it's insulating in spots. Then factor in the actual materials being inferior (inc cheap ball bearing fans). I'd only buy asrock if it was at least $50 cheaper than next tier models.

      • M… Fair enough.

Is this factual (and does it matter on low end card that generally wont heat up as much), or one of those myth?

I am yet to have a GPU failing on me - BUT, my PC is on 10hours/week at most, and well ventilated.

        • They run hotter than the better models so yes they don't last as long. The fans are cheaper ball bearings, the backplate is to add structure to the card on shit models it actually causes heatspots. Pcb can be inferior on cheaper models and more prone to corrosion.

The bigger things you'll notice on cheap models over time are fan noise, whirring and coil whine. And like I said the pcb traces might turn teal

          • @Jimmy77: Thanks. RX 6600 XT, it is.

Had me at whirring and coil whine - possibly what will actually annoy me, despite not experienced in in all GPUs owned to-date. Probably due to minimal use and not overclocking them.

  • See what happens when people don't panic and clear them out of stock? Retailers should try deals with only 5 units and see if they can incite panic/manipulate demand again.

    • +2

Panic buyers have already panic bought in and its too late for them. The only ones left now are stone cold hodlers

      • +2

Indeed! Also notice this is the first decent model to come down to a reasonable price

It's because eagle/ventus stopped going out of stock. Like you said all the fake hodlers are gone. I will wait for a red devil at this price or 6700xt around 500. I may even wait longer. Nothing wrong with this xfx deal if not for unethical retailers and their behaviour over the past year. $400 price rises overnight followed by stingy $10 drip fed drops over 4 months… Waiting longer and giving them less money is my preference even though I need a card

  • @OP. Probably better off changing title to the 6600 XT for $419, appears to be better value than the non XT.

  • Nice find OP. From $499 to $419 - that's a pretty big singular price drop from PLE for the XT. I like the XFX design too. From what I've read this design is overkill for this model and the card runs pretty much silent.

    • +1

$436 on amazon and probably other stores.

There's obviously more stock than desperate customers. Maybe we'll see asrockventuseagle 6600xt drop to $360 next

      • +1

Yep. Prices already went into a bit of a free for all earlier this week with the successive drops on the 6600 and 6700 XT from multiple retailers trying to undercut and get rid of their stock. Still didn't sell out. Musn't be a good time for anyone sitting on big stockholds (retailers, but moreso miners trying to offload now).

  • Imo there is a chance stores are clearing old stock 6600 XT and 6700 XT cards to make way for the refresh models, hence why these cards are dropping so much. If you search PLE for XFX you'll notice they don't have XFX versions of the 6650 XT or 6750 XT available. Personally I'd consider jumping on the 6600 XT at this price for 1080p, if I hadn't already got a Sapphire Nitro+ on the earlier deals and flipped my old gpu. Also, the hodlers are probably right in general if your after some higher spec, although at this point I'd be inclined to wait for the 7700 XT / 4070 if I wasn't buying at the cheaper end of the scale.

    • +1

XFX 6650 XT was listed for $439 at PLE a day ago?! See price history

    • Yeah those scare tactics don't work anymore. Any rational person who bought a gpu in 2021 would've accepted prices would return to normal eventually

What makes you think 6650xt will be worse value than current deals?

      • $419 for a partner 6600 XT is a pretty good deal IMO.

I'm not trying to scare anybody into a purchase, they are just my observations…

Now that PLE have fixed their pricing of the XFX 6650 XT, it's sitting at $649… maybe the $439 was a pricing error? ( $439 is the price it should be though IMO. )

PCCG are selling the PowerColor Hellhound for the same price, $649.

Skycomp have the Sapphire PULSE @ $699.

Prices of the re-launch models are absolutely bonkers, and I really hope they drop down to be in-line with these deals in value.

        • No way are they expecting to sell the refresh models at these "fixed" prices. They just realized they want to get rid of the older models first and not be stuck with unsaleable 6600xts etc.

          • @ssfps: Yeah, I agree with that, also considering the refresh models are ~5% faster, you'd want the 6650 XT to be $439 for it to be considered the same 'value'. There's no way the refresh models are worth more than an extra $20, certainly not an extra $230 lol.

Unfortunately I can see the retailers being greedy and slowly hiking the price down from $649 until people bite, just like we've seen over the last few weeks all over again. Back to HODL and/or waiting for the next gen imo, but we'll see, maybe I'm wrong and as soon as they sell all the 6600 XT's there will be a $200 price drop on the 6650 XT's :D.

  • now only $359.00, not sure how long I can HODL.
