How do you get 2 for $39.99? When I added 2 they charged $79.98

    • Sorry it's price per unit. I copied the old deal without noticing it. Updated the title.

    As per website:

These shelves have a sturdy 37.5kg weight limit per MDF shelf

contrary to what is listed by OP

    • Yes, it is..
      Powdercoated gloss black
      MDF shelves
180kg weight load capacity per shelf
      Flush top finish
The 1500 x 810 x 310mm 4 shelf unit is ideal for storage in the garage and office.

The 4 tier unit features a black powder coated finish, a flush top finish and holds up to 180kg when distributed evenly per shelf.

    • They look identical to me, dunno why one's ratings is 150kg per shelf and another is 37.5kg per shelf.

from Bunnings website: "The 4 tier unit features a black powder coated finish, a flush top finish and holds up to 180kg when distributed evenly per shelf", does it mean 180kg totally for 4 shelves ?

  • Do they sell extra shelves as well to add up in these?

I think the bunnings $48 is a slightly better deal (depending on your application) - bit more money but allegedly stronger, wider and deeper. It's quite annoying how the 1200+mm ones at bunnings are so much more expensive.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-…

Last week, I bought 8 of the $48 units. I had a 1500mm hole left, so I went back today and had to pay $200~ for a single 1500 wide unit (pinnacle), but the ocd was satisfied (aside from the fact that unit was black and the rest of them are grey)

I just returned 3 of the very same Montgomery shelving units back to Bunnings couple days ago
The MDF boards are not sealed and they breed mould something crazy , everytime it rains.
These shelves were in my enclosed colorbond shed, not in any direct rain or anything. Just the moisture in the air was bad enough for it to happen.
I am in QLD and this happened to me a few times before i decided enough was enough and dragged it all back to return. I would not recommend Montgomery brand.

      YMMV.

PS: have a look under reviews on the Bunnings page, few others reporting same issue now.

      • Yep, I was warned about this. I would definitely consider sealing them but I have a very dry garage - even in this wet period (I too am in QLD but I'm in a concrete wasteland townhouse estate with excellent drainage).

Can't say the same about my car. I left the car sitting for 2 months (awaiting head gasket work) with one window slightly open. Now the mould is gone but the damn thing wreaks of vinegar and coolant.

        • yes, i could seal them, but in saying that, I have mdf shelves from the brands sold by old Masters and ALDI and even another one from a different brand from Bunnings, all in the same shed and none of them have developed mould.

I have come to the conclusion that these Montgomery ones are definitely not sealed or treated or whatever from the factory. They should be, to be useable in QLD at least IMHO.
