We use our Weber 3-4 nights a week. Grills the best veggies especially asparagus, broccolini, eggplant and zucchini. Chicken fillets are my favourite - slap it in a brioche roll with caramelised onions. Dinner sorted and cooked in 15 minutes. I love you Weber.

    • What about cleaning it? Does it take you long ?

      • +2

I dump and run after using it. I want to eat my dinner.

Next time I go to use I preheat at max heat for 5 minutes then use the wire grill brush to break up the now hardened scraps. Comes up brand new.

About every 6th use, before firing up, I remove the plates and scrape all the scraps into the alfoil tray through the large drip hole.

Then approximately every 4 weeks I spend about 20 minutes giving the unit a deep clean. A squirt of detergent, a stiff kitchen brush and the garden hose is all it takes. Air dry. Reassemble. Done. Did I mention I love Weber?

They are much quicker and easier to clean than those old school 4/6 burner trolley junk BBQ's. In fact there is no comparison to the cooking either. Ditch the trolley BBQ and get a Weber. Thank me later.

        • I'm usually cooking things that require a flat plate, like eggs and fish fillets … Would you still recommend?

          • @segfault: Yes. I have the 1/2 hot plate

Use it for onions etc (or anything that would fall to through the grill). I cook the occasional breakfast and eggs come out well. We don't eat fish (just not seafoody people) so can't comment on that sorry but i think weber make an attachment for fish.

          • @segfault: Yes, just get a BBQ hot plate liner sheet for $10
I pretty much cook everything on my Webber on one of those sheets. It makes cleanup so much easier

          • @segfault: I can confirm that cooking salmon fillets on the weber 1/2 hot plate are really good. The skin will come out really crispy and it doesn't stick, just put a bit of oil and only turn it once.

        • Weber have many trolley BBQs in their catalogue so not sure what you mean with "dump the trolley BBQ and get a Weber".

@Laziofogna: You have misquoted me. Read the paragraph as a whole.

@Muzeeb: Yeah, nah "In fact there is no comparison to the cooking either. Ditch the trolley BBQ and get a Weber." 😉

      • I’ve never cleaned my Weber q and I’ve had it for a year. There’s really no need besides using a wire brush and scraping the plate, wipe with paper towel. I wouldn’t go spraying water in it, I let it burn off a bit but unlike other bbqs I’ve had, it never has old shit managing to start fires etc, all the fat goes into the drip pan, and I think as the gas burner is in a rounded formation, it burns crap off easily. Then again, it’s not as if I eat overly greasy food on it. Cooked like 4kg of sausages as a once off on it, besides that smaller amounts of food.

  • Looking forward to it myself.

I'm pretty sure if you use the $10 myer one reward with shopback, it will void the cashback.

  • spend the extra money get the higher hood with thermometer & electronic ignition from weber

cleaning is a breeze for those asking as it drains into a foil container, it's easy to clean with a hose etc too

    • higher hood with thermometer & electronic ignition

    • ready to connect

  • I've needed a bbq for the backyard since moving into the new place recently, but haven't done much research. Anyone want to be a darling and give me a quick high level overview of all the Weber models and the differences in the Q series? (Gas, electric etc?) thank you :)

    • +2

weber is one of the best out there, it's warrant is excellent and customer service brilliant. The Q series last forever and are very easy to clean & maintain. Q1000 is the baby, portable & good to take camping, Q2000 series is medium size can still take camping but big enough for the backyard to feed the family / friends. Both are single burner. Q3000 series is the big one for family / parties and is dual burner. Gas is the way to go over electric
