You'll notice the biggest difference with music with all the variances of speakers and amps.

None the less the front left centre right are predominant in movies, speakers will change the sound a bit for them and amps less so there.

As above, just my two cents though.

Highly recommend listening when you can.

Was in West coast high fi Osborne Park couple months ago and their music room sounds similar dimensions to your theatre, from memory. Alternatively any av store will have a set up that will help you get an understanding of the speaker preference you like.

Next best thing is room dampening, makes a massive difference; panels can be expensive to buy, but are relatively easy to build if you have the patience to build them.

@teereb: Great suggestion! Noted. Thanks mate

          • @teereb: Have you got reference to build diy room dampening?

            • @11CENTS: Sorry, reference as a DIY step by step?

Honestly it depends how much effort you want to go into.

Simply hanging rugs / old mattresses will do wonders, however that can be unsightly.

Built a wooden frame, stuff it with some earthwool (or any sound insulation panels) and staple acoustically transparent fabric over the top (transparency is important, otherwise sound will bounce off the wrong fabric instead of being absorbed). A few panels around the room is ideal, including ceiling.

Alternatively if you dont want insulative panels, can have reflective panels that are designed to disperse the sound in a way that nullifies it, however that is a solid effort finding standing waves etc etc and means the room can't be altered a lot once in.

Further more you build bass traps to confine the larger sound waves from the subwoofers from leaving the room / from having loud a quiet areas.

eh, hope that answers what you meant somewhat?

  • Been using Klipsch RP-160M for years, love the horns 🤘

I wish to move on though lol

    • +1

The RP's are head and shoulders above these ones though.

The KD is the entry level budget line, ok, but not what Klipsch is known for.

      • I think with some room eq and a decent amp, any speaker can sound decent. These would be way better than a sound bar setup tbh, at half price, it's no brainer.

I am thinking to buy the towers but any decent tower is about 5k mark.

After I added a REL T9x, my setup is 10 times better than ever.

        • Agree that the amp does make or break a speaker

I'm eyeing off a pair of wharfedale evos personally, more curvy and better looking imho

          • @Drakesy: I am also thinking about a 3 way towers, have not heard/demo-ed any yet.

Focal Aria 948 or 936 :/ Flax is superior to Kevlar, I have heard both extensively. I am a fan of Kevlar, but Focal improved it with Flax material.

            • @sqheaven: The focals are very nice
              Especially the darker walnut finish

              Would sound amazing as well

      Great find thanks, bought 10!

  • Hi,

Can someone help me to understand whether I need to install a roof ceiling speaker or just live with 5.1 with bookshelves

    https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au/shop/speakers/speaker-packa…

I don't want roof ceiling speakers and spend extra money installing and maintaining them. I have cabling for 5.1. I used to use a Klipsch wall mount speaker, and my current house has cabling for book shelves, and I want to utilise that.

The ceiling speakers in that package you linked (5.1.2) would be best suited for an ATMOS set-up. It's 100% not essential to use them, unless you're interested in setting up a system designed to make use of it and you have an AV receiver that supports it too. 5.1 is still fantastic (generally miles better than the virtual surround you get from a sound bar) and you could always sell the ceiling speakers to recoup some of your costs. Alternatively, you could use them for a 2nd zone (like in an alfresco area or bedroom for example) if your receiver supports that.

  • Got tired of waiting and instead got the Samsung soundbar. I think that is a cheaper, better-looking product for most people. Unless you have the perfect room and are planning to add more speakers, this is a hard option to get right.

  • Any good hifi packages.?

    • Plenty of great options what are you thinking ? We can always help

      • I'm thinking of the rotel a12 mk2 or audiolab 6000a and not yet sure what speakers. Elac, wharfedale, polk, BW.

        • Rotel and B+W are a great match and would be my pick of the bunch.

Hi Everyone I will be creating a few more options today after reading over comments and will post in here soon.

    • 5.1 with bookshelf rears and no in ceilings
    • 5.1.2 with bookshelf rears and in ceiling atmos
    • 5.1 with bookshelf rears and av receiver
    • That will be good OP. You can even go step further and add 3 types of setup (budget, medium, high end) for each option above. Can also add receiver.

    • You should update your description and put these in your post OP. Else these are going to be missed. Uber tempted now that you have bookshelf options, I have to run it past the CxO first, how long would these prices be valid for? and is there any good stand?

      • Thanks I just put option to change to bookshelf in notes. We still have stock however that situation can change very quickly. I would say there is enough to get through the week with current order numbers.

  • I'm kinda convinced this is just a rebrand of Jamos (who is owned by Klipsch)

    Floorstanding are Jamo 807
    Centre is a CEN S81
    Bookshelf are Jamo 803
Sub I think is unique to Klipsch

    • Same. Center would be the larger S83 and sub could be a Jamo J10.

    • Correct. Jamo and Klipsch do share models.

    • Reddit says the same, rebadged Jamo sold at a higher price.

      • Higher price ?

This is way cheaper than the equivalent Jamo - just the pair of S 807 floor-standers on their own cost more than this entire pack in Australia.

ie. these Klipsch versions are much much cheaper…

  • Looks like a really nice deal. Too bad I rent an apt, in-ceiling speakers are a no-go.

  • Hi All,

Just wanted to advise that this deal will finish this weekend. We have very few packs left but if you where thinking of purchasing dont miss your chance :)

  • This looks like a 3.1.2 setup, not a 5.1 LOL
