Personally I love the entire aesthetic, but that is fair especially if it clashes with the rest of your living room

Totally get it. My wife doesn't like speakers like that too. It's why I started looking at other brands. My wife loves jarrah furniture. Krix out of Adelaide make some fantastic speakers and they have wood veneer options of jarrah and blackwood for their speakers. Got Krix 5.1 speaker setup in jarrah. Look and sound great.
I didn't believe the speaker van scam was real until a van pulled up to me and tried to sell me speakers.

Yeah we did wonder if the employees were pissed and decided to steal and sell them on their last day but we also thought they could possibly be instructed to do so that the sold speakers were reported as stolen speakers instead for insurance claim purpose.

My cousin was a musician and used to sell speaker's out of a van for the shop he was a regular at. He ended up having a gun pulled on him in Western Sydney so he gave that side job up pretty quickly. 15yrs ago now.

In a world of atmos soundbars I would rather choose stereo or 3.1 bookshelf’s.

100% don't use inceiling to do surround unless you absolute have no other option.

I would try get some bookshelf or in wall rears and use the ceiling speakers in this package to do ATMOS.
WC HiFi doesn't mind in ceilings as rears, but they're far from ideal if you can avoid them.

For 1200, it's pretty decent.
There are many reasons to avoid Klipsch as they are not particularly good speakers, and the subs certainly aren't, but at this price it's not a terrible buy if you need a whole package. Still, if you're going in-ceiling, that would suggest you're taking this a bit more seriously, in which case you might want to look elsewhere.

It comes down to budget. SVS do far better subs, and you don't need to go ALL Klipsch unless you want that black/gold aesthetic. The 'look' seems to be the biggest appeal, which is an odd thing to prioritise over the actual sound given they're SPEAKERS lol! Lots of other factors also, room size, use case etc. There is no one best speaker solution.
I have had the SVS PB 1000 and now 4000 (whoops) which both are way crisper than the muddy bass a little 10 inch polk sub I got thrown in with my other speakers I brought a few years ago. the SVS stuff isn't cheap however
Need to keep in mind all of the flak is directed at their budget line, the rp line are fine.
Klipsch entry level stuff is neither here nor there but Klipsch Reference is boss. I used to run an RF-62 set up with dipole surrounds back in the day. I agree their subs aren't great though, I ran a velodyne 12" sub and it complimented the set up a lot better.
Ceiling speakers as rears? What the? What happened to normal rear speakers?
Yea it's not a really good kit, if all you can do 3.1.2 then maybe but definitely not for 5.1.
I've always had bookshelf speakers mounted on the wall as rears (5.1 system). Should I be looking at in wall or in ceiling speakers as a replacement?
Inwalls allows for a clean set up and requires less space. Bookshelves protude so need to account for that as it will affect the side seats.

I'm trying to decide between a soundbar or surround sound system. These Klipsch speakers seem to be similar in price to the Samsung HW-Q990B/XY Soundbar. I'm leaning towards just getting the soundbar which seems to be top of the line and easy to setup but keen to hear other peoples thoughts.
It's only my two cents, but if you have the space, avoid soundbars. Vastly superior sound, quality and volume. Solid LCR to your surrounds will always sound better. I've listened to a few mates sound bars (from budget $200 - $2000) and none of them compared to my 15 yr old $1000 dali concept 5.1, which I am in the slow process of upgrading.
The only reason to prioritise a soundbar is aesthetics; a personal preference.
Any specific questions maybe? -Gumtree is your friend, but it's a lot to read and see what to avoid I know.
I set up both in my living room, originally set up a Bose SoundTouch 300 soundbar, bass and surround speaker only due to the fact that running internal speaker wires was nearly impossible in a townhouse.
Gatherers courage to put a 7.1 speaker system after ripping some plaster and don’t want to go back to soundbar again.
The 7.1 config comes with more customisation and you can level the volume to your preference like centre to be a little higher for clear vocals
Soundbars are mostly gimmicks, don't expect clear mid/vocals from any soundbar, will get plenty low/bass and highs!
Soundbar speakers are best suited for homes where you need to save space.
Soundbars can sound worse than portable Bluetooth speakers in terms of sound quality.
Physics wise a well designed speaker needs the speaker drivers to be housed in large cabinets made of dense material eg. wood. The soundbar concept of small diameter speakers made of light weight plastic and small cabinet space really compromises the maximum potential of the drivers.
A floor standing surround package will take up a lot of space. The front left and right speakers are like mini bookshelves. Then you need to route wires around the room to power all the speakers. These Klipse rear speakers are in the ceiling. Then you need to buy a 5.1 surround amplifier and make space for that too. Amplifiers need space and preferably somewhere cool and uncovered so it can ventilate heat.
For a good 5.1 speaker setup you need a near ideal cinema room. That's a rectangular room with minimal reflective surfaces and ability to position the rear speakers where its ideal.
Most people don't own or rent in a place where there is a spare cinema room so soundbars are super space saving and practical. Plus they are easy to setup due to less cables.
If you have the space and you really appreciate good audio then an entry level surround amplifier is where you can start and build from there. As your tastes improve its affordable to swap stuff in and out. A surround amplifier with a good stereo bookshelf speaker/headphone can sound better than a soundbar. Can then slowly upgrade to a 5.1.2 speaker setup with subwoofer as money and space becomes available.
Is the two floor standing good as a 2x stereo type setup?
Should be, I’m thinking to get this for primarily the stereo setup with a woofer. If purchased individually, it’s going to cost more.
Never Pay RRP for speakers.
If you're a true OzBargainer you'd never pay RRP for anything.
RRP for a PS5 is a legit bargain if you must have a PS5 and the only other option is scalper prices.
Don't pay any attention to RRP (or any other arbitrary, imaginary price, especially not one made up by some guy in marketing).

Best bet with speakers is to listen to them yourself, can be very personal preference.
Klipsch, and the horn tweeters, are known to be quite bright, that is the top end higher frequency sounds are pronounced. I personally prefer neutral, or warmer sounds, and find the horn tweeters to be quite fatiguing especially at higher volumes / after extended periods, though many to like the crispness they have. YMMV.
Go have a listen, compare them to something in a similar price / or budget that you're willing to spend, and listen to them on a similar amp that you have at home as each amp / receiver has it's own tonal qualities. Denon / Marantz are warm, yamaha are quite neutral etc etc
Thanks mate. Other difficulty is to find store with such setup where you can feel yourself. My requirements for 4.8m X 4m theatre room are just for watching movies and sports events.

NGL i love the look of Klipsch drivers, just hate how everything they make is in black with a boxy design.
If they did this in cherry/beech i'd be all over it, but just don't want big black speakers in my living room.
