Damn that's a great price. Anyone have one that can vouch for it?

    • +5

Yeah at this price it's fine

      At the 799 it's shit

      The local dimming isn't great

there is still MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE ghosting issues, and motion clarity issues

The G5 and g7 mainly rely on the high frame rate to make the sales, the panel quality control was shit

They are clearing these out as the new g8 fixes all those issues, and added in miniled

Updooted but like other comment says, price in title!!

  • +1

great price, tempted to purchase. has been around this price a few times this year.

    inb4 dell is better comments

    • Inb4 Samsung is better comments

      • +1

        LG is better

Also in stock at PLE with free delivery: https://www.ple.com.au/Products/650686/Samsung-Odyssey-G52-2…

  • Comparing to the Dell via rtings, it seems like this may be marginally better for gaming? Brighter screen, at the very least. I have the Dell and am happy with the brightness but I wouldn't say no to getting this as a second monitor…

Not sure I trust Samsung with their cheating ways

FYI - This isn’t a pre order. When I commented on another OP post, PC Case Gear had stock ready and there was an influx of orders on the G5 that it went on back order for more stock

I made a comment earlier on this post regarding other sellers and I’ll put the list here

Same discounted price everywhere - $299

    Mwave - Free shipping
    PLE Computers - Free shipping
Scorptec - Free shipping to selected states (SA and ACT excluded)
PC Case Gear - + Shipping

same deal was posted last week: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/705655

If you look at the top comment on the abovementioned deal, you'll see that it is the same price at a number of retailers

    • It’s $299.

    • +2

While the neg is a bit harsh, thanks for the heads up, as per above it is only 299 though.

    • +9

      Thats not the same monitor…

    • +5

Not the same, review is VA panel. Deal has IPS…

    • +2

That one is 144Hz VA so completely different panel (Samsung's naming scheme is confusing).

    • +4

As others have said, that's the wrong monitor.

      This is the correct review:
      https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-g5-s2…

8.4 rating for gaming which is what it's made for so pretty decent I'd say

  • What's this like for gaming. I've never had an ips display.
Hows this compare to MSI Optix G273 27" 165Hz 1ms G-Sync eSports Gaming Monitor for same price?

  • -3

FYI 32" isn't that much more:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175137337601

    ~$100 for 5" of 4K goodness

    • +1

Cheaper if you buy it directly from PCCG (and other stores) too

      • +1

        Just depends on shipping

    • 32" is cheaper at PLE ($399 vs $429) -> https://www.ple.com.au/Products/650687/Samsung-Odyssey-G52-3…

I'm looking for a new monitor for work, no gaming, but the bigger size would be useful for running tabs/windows side-by-side. Not sure if this is overkill or there are better options for this kind of thing, so input on this is welcome.

      • +2

Yeah saw that, but as with the 27", no current stock

    • +4

The 32" version is also 1440p and not 4K btw

      • Ah yes, my bad

  • Monitor market is much more completive now. I bought my Asus monitor with similar specs for around $750 2.5 years ago.

    • +1

The rrp states this is $719 so this price means they are trying to get it gone asap

  • +1

There's probably a reason that it's so discounted.

  • Is this good for a second monitor to my laptop for wfh purposes and also maybe a bit of gaming?

  • +1

I currently have the Kogan curved screen

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-27-curved-qhd-144hz-frees…

Will this be better? I'm scared that I will miss the curve viewing with this deal

  • Did I get scammed?
I bought this from Mwave and it says processing takes two days.
    It's been 8, no news.
They won't answer the phone over the past two days, it just rings out

    • Yes

      • Rip. But actually though?

  • Mine got delivered today.
