  • Cool specs but what's up with the graphics card. That's a super let down.

    • If it's meant to be a media laptop then a 540GT should be fine. Have got one in my XPS15 and it handles all media stuff no worries, and will do pretty much any game on medium-high settings at 720p. A few will actually go nicely at 1080 - played through AC2 at 1080p with maxed settings and it was great (30-50fps)

As garratt torlesse said though, the price is pretty average for what it is. I'd expect to see this for $1200-1400 or so. The Dell XPS17 can be had with pretty much the same specs for $1450 ($1399 starter option with $50 FHD screen upgrade), and goes on fairly hefty sales with maybe ~$300 savings every now and again.

EDIT: Oh, it's already on sale. Still, much better deal on the Dell, and a far better company to deal with.

    • Whats wrong with 540M…

  • Besides the fact its 18 inches, the specs are pretty underwhelming for 1700.

I thought this was for $1 since it's highlighted in red

    • +4

No, it's $1 for the laptop, plus another $707.95 postage. Typical postage gouging…

      • -3

        Wrong…

      • That would be $708.95

        • That would be the (admittedly rather limp) joke:
Item is $1, or $708.95 including postage.

  • i bought this for $980 from the US when they had their black friday sales :)

This is a very bad deal, I got my Dell 17" with very similar specs (better cpu, video and lighter. While the dell had a smaller hdd, less ram) for $1250 an entire year ago. I would consider this laptop if it was under $1100. To me this laptop is $700 overpriced. Totally not a bargain. I thought laptop prices are supposed to come down I'm sure COTD only had it for $100 more 8 months ago.

Even though it might be a good deal for that price, I'm going to neg it because of the dodgyness of the postage charge.

    • $9.95? What is wrong with that? How much do you think it should cost?

  • +1

    title's fault

  • Does nobody read the price in the link? It IS NOT $1 + $708.95, it is $1,708.95 including!

    • +2

You must wonder how the rest of us manage to tie our shoelaces in the morning.

  • +3

somebody fix the title [roll eye]

shown on COTD as $1699 now

  • $1699 no deal

  • +1

    The tile is just aweful.

  • This is not a deal, it is a lottery at best.

    • what?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Crap value for money

    Looks pretty though

  • +3

Firstly … about 99.99% of the OZBargainers are COTD haters, secondly its a crap deal as you would expect from COTD…and thirdly already spent 1300 on an Asus laptop and regretting the performance !

    • What laptop was that.

      • I think it Asus N53 series. Battery died, got a new genuine battery under warranty…battery life is still terrible ! Laptop is very bulky too ! Not buying ASUS ever !

  • The negative for the price only!!! No bargain
