Roccat Vulcan Pro Mechanical RGB Gaming Keyboard - Optical Titan Switches (full layout with numpad)
Plus
MSI Clutch GM50 Gaming Mouse

Been looking for a Vulcan Pro for a while now, had the 120 AIMO previously for about 4 years and served me well, though it took about 3 years of heavy use for the keycaps to start wearing away and the buttons to not register well. But with the Vulcan Pro, this has the Optical Switches. The registration problems from the 120 AIMO shouldn't be possible anymore.

These Vulcan Pro's retail for $300+ and are RARELY on sale at $199 (is currently at PCCasegear tho) and this has the added bonus of an MSI gaming mouse. Can't speak much for the mouse. It's an average gaming mouse, nothing special about it. Just a nice bonus if you happen to need it.

  • I'm curious, what's the main use case for a fullsize gaming keyboard?

Are there games where the numpad can be useful, or is this more for combined gaming/productivity setups?

    • +2

I like it as a preference. I also use the additional keys for macros or key mapping back to the mouse if needed.

But yes for dual purpose usage, it's beneficial.

I have the the aimo 122 I think it is in white. Best keyboard ever used.

2 negatives - no onboard memory and the wrist pad is plastic.

Extending on PatoriaN's reply, I know some CS:GO players also really like to assign numpad buttons to purchase common gear/weapons at the start of each round.

Also, I would literally pay an extra $50 or whatever for the numpad thanks to the ease of simple tasks like, entering my login PIN for windows or using the calculator. I'm a big numpad advocate.

I also agree though with the fact that this style of Roccat boards are the best i've ever used. I tried upgrading to a Logitech G915 a few weeks ago, can't get used to it. Trying to sell it off now to re-coup some of my money. Once you go Roccat, you never go back.

      • hi, i was considering the G915 as my next keyboard, do you mind sharing what you don't like about it ? I'm coming from a Corsair K68 (Cherry Red), i want to switch for the wireless convenience.

        • Sorry I never saw your reply mate, G915 is quite low profile, after using a proper mechanical keyboard, feels like a cheap piece of crap. But the more annoying thing was the placement of the macro keys on the left hand side. Muscle memory dictates that Leftctrl key and Leftshift is at the bottom left of the keyboard. but on this keyboard the macro keys are. It feels so awkward having to check that your finger is on ctrl button instead of just feeling the edge and knowing it is.

  • In the context of using keyboard macros… Anyone know if the Vulcan Pro is compatible with any of the Linux distros.
Does the Pro have onboard memory?

  • I am using Vulcan 122 white, One of the best colourful keyboard I've used.
