  • just pricematched the lifecam studio at officeworks against MSY price of 89$. got an additional 5% off price guarantee.

if you gonna do it, i'd do it soon before OW change their prices.

    • How is the cam? I read a few reviews and said it is not good.

  • Who cares if officeworks changes their prices. As long as msy and other smaller retailers maintain their price we can still get a price beat from officeworks. And if they won't price match just support the small businesses.

    • what i mean is that usually if alot of people pricematch at officeworks, HQ will simply change the official store price to the price of the competition. this means that there is no price to beat and therefore no additional 5% off.

  • Just called the cashback promoter. MSY or any local computer shops with ABN are ok (UNLESS THEY ARE AUCTION HOUSES). You do need to submit the TAX INVOICE but it does not have to be under you name.

    Cheers :)

    I just called M$ too…they said:

    • 1 claim per person
    • 1 item per person
    • Multiple people can claim using the same receipt (ie: they said it was fine if me and the missus both lodge separate claims if we bought a mouse and webcam in 1 transaction and they were on the same receipt)
    • oh cool. so not limited to one claim per household then, just per person?

      • so not limited to one claim per household then, just per person?

Yeah that is what she said.

  • so.. can you buy from online stores if they have an ABN?

I couldn't work out the pricing on the msy parts list.. what's the cheapest wireless keyboard/mouse combo deal?

  • Does anyone know how the Lifecam for business models differ? Do they qualify?

For those who prefer Logitech, The Good Guys have a few items on sale:

    • M235 - $12
    • MK520 - $39
    • Z323 - $45
    • Z506 - $62

Just scored the Wireless Desktop 800 from TGG price matched to OW for an effective $6.61…nothing better than combining Ozbargain deals :D

  • Thank you. Bought the last Comfort Wireless Desktop 5000 from OW Brisbane CBD price matched to Computer Alliance. Should cost me around $20 after rebate. I think this is pretty good for a ergonomic keyboard with 3 years warranty+ extra year because I bought it on my credit card. Oh yea!

Just came back from DSE. Bought the lifecam hd-3000 for $18 before $15 cashback and the lifechat lx-3000 for $21 before $15 cashback

      national pricing?

      • it's on their website so im pretty sure it is

  • I am a bit confused and was wondering if you guys can help me out?

I want to buy the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse at OW. http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Per…

I will be price matching DSE ($35.97) http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XH2218/microsoft-arc-touch-m…

So Total for OW after price match is: $34.17

Microsoft cash back is 30% off RRP
    Arc Touch Mouse $ 79.95 (RRP) $ 23.99 (cashback)

can anyone tell me how much i would be actually paying after cashback?

    is it 30% off $34.17 or 30% off $79.95?

    • prices off are listed in the link. It is off the RRP

    • +1

A lot of people seem to be confused by this (because it looks too good to be true!). As spawnpoint said, it's in the link.

Suggestion: forget about working out the 30%.

Go to https://www.microsoft.com.au/hardwarecash/products.html, find your item and just read off the cashback amount. That's what Microsoft will credit you with, NO MATTER WHAT YOU PAID AT THE (ELIGIBLE) STORE.

Also, the offer is on until 5.7.2012 so you have plenty of time, but remember that you have to register for your redemption by 19.7.2012. Also, it seems that you may have a fairly long wait: Microsoft says "Your 30% of the RRP cash-back will be deposited into your nominated bank account by 30th August 2012."

      • yeah a lot of people get confused like me.

as long as i get the cash back nop matter what i paid in store i'm sold.

ill go to my local office works now!!!

        • I was confused too :-)

Dick Smith's XXXL sale (price-matched at OfficeWorks if you wish) + the Microsoft cashback makes today a great day for bargains - provided your item is (a) in Microsoft's list AND (b) 40% off at Dick Smith.

  • It has been mentioned above buried in another post - but just to note that while it is an online redemption form, at the end of it you still have to print it out and mail it in with a copy of your receipt. ie no option to scan / email receipt that I could see.

    • As in just printing out the claim confirmation number, or the page with your name and bank details?
Is everyone sending it in via regular 60c post, or using registered/tracking?

      • Just the claim confirmation number, not your name and bank details. It's probably standard format for Microsoft cashback claims but I'm sure I did a Norton 360 one or something similar recently that allowed for all electronic submission.

I just used regular 60c Aust Post. Registered tracking is probably only a couple of dollars more.

      • +2

I just emailed the receipt through….I got a reply from them to say its been accepted (and its less work for them if it is emailed through!)

        Send it to [email protected]

        • +1

Thats correct - got email that it is OK…
"MicrosoftHardwareCashback ✆ [email protected] via gmail.com
As we are unable to send the original document back to you after validation a copy of the receipt would be the best option (just in case you do need the original for warranty purposes).
Alternatively you could scan/take a photo of the receipt and email it back to me with the reference number it gives you after registering.
          Regards,
          Alison Attenborough

        • How long did it take to be approved?

        • +1

They replied within 3 hours for me today, mentioned that everything was in order.

        • What did they actually say? I sent mine in via email and the reply I got told me they would review my claim once their "databases are updated".

        • Still haven't had a response after 2 days.

  • Picked up a few things at DS XXXL Sale
    LifeCam HD-3000 for $2.98 ($17.97 - $14.99 MS cashback)
    Wireless Desktop 2000 for $8.98 ($29.97- $20.99 MS cashback).
    LifeChat LX-3000 Headset for $5.98 ($20.97 - $14.99 MS cashback)
    Let the claims begin!

    • You can make multiple claims from one receipt, but wasn't it only 1 item cashback per person/name allowed? So you would need to use 3 different names?

      • 3 in family using this gear - so 1 envelope with 3 names & claims (20c/claim).

    • +2

Went to OW price match the LifeCam HD-3000 by $17.97 DSE price round-down to $17 -5% OW price beat = $16.15 - $14.99 (MS cashback)

So, LifeCam HD-3000 for $1.16. SCORE!!!

By the way, still need to add in 60 cents stamp post :(
      That's goes up to $1.76 :(

      • Good on you!
Was on buses - the extra OW trip/time would have cost more than saving.

  • I'm a bit stuck here. When it says 'print this page', it's just the confirmation number right?

    • Yes. I expected it to contain the details on the form. I guess the number will be matched with your online application, and purchase verified from the receipt. They also send you an email with the same confirmation number & say print that - print either, attach copy of your receipt & post.

But I am confused by 'copy' of your receipt - does that mean the store receipt or can I send a photocopy of the store receipt?? Store receipt is needed for warranty.
Claims for another promo were rejected as 'copy' meant the store copy of receipt.
      I've emailed MSCashback for clarification.

      • +1

On the confirmation page it says to attach a photocopy.

  • can anyone please upload officeworks price matched receipt for Microsoft Wireless Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000?

  • Yeah i would be after a price match receipt as well…Looking at MS can't find the Microsoft Wireless Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000….Every where i could find has for either 199 or 119.

  • I bought a couple of mice onlne from DickSmith Sale on Sat, and today they send me an invoice says both of my mice are on back order, does that mean my purchase is not eligible for the cash back? Thanks

    • Probably not eligible

    • Hope they can deliver before the cash back expire and you have the invoice to claim.

  • Bought the Ergonomic Desktop 7000 for $119 from Officeworks today. Figured that price was already reasonable. Will be keen to get the cashback form sent in ASAP.

Spent the past half hour trying to troubleshoot WIFI interference problems though. I think I've got it sorted out so far,

    • Can it still connect via a wired connection, or is it only wireless?

      • Wireless only. Seems to have been mitigated by using a USB hub away from the PC's WIFI antenna.

  • I don't trust MS anymore.
last time i sent the claim form and invoice copy to them ,no replay or cashback at all.

    • Not sure why this happens to people like you. When you submitted a claim you got a reference number and you know the date you submitted. Call them, talk to them. You'll get a reply.

We've had such a great response to Microsoft Hardware Cash Back that we've extended the cash back offer to allow up to 3 claims per person!

Note that we have updated the promotion terms and conditions as a result.

    All the best,
    The Microsoft Hardware Team

    • +1

I just got this email as well.
Can the OP update the deal's description with the new limits?

  • Do you have to make a separate claim for each item and if so can you post them in the same envelope?

  • ref scoopon offer Ultra-Thin Microsoft LifeCam HD Webcam, Just $33 Delivered! 1. does anyone know what model it is? 2. Is scoopon an eligible retailer for MS cash back offer terms? for the offer see:
    http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/13105/ultra-thin-microsoft-l…

    • I was wondering that too. Could not find that model in a search based on of all webcam models in CashBack list. None even looked like it. Maybe overseas or old model?

Considering I bought the Lifecam HD-3000 for $17.97 ($2.98 after cashback) at DS on Saturday, don't see why anyone would buy that cam for $33 with probably no cashback. Scoopon camera has only 1yr warranty against 3yr for the $3 one.

  • As I had not received a response to my emailed claim in 7 days, asked them to confirm receipt. (DS sale 26/5) Got this positive response…
"Your claim has been processed and validated. As per the terms and conditions payments will be made on or before 30/08/12, but as you are among the first to claim you should expect payment in the next 2-3 weeks."

  • +2

Big W have 25% off M$ accessories from Thursday ;)

  • *edited - double post

  • The terms says 3 claims per person, does that mean 3 items per person or 3 claims? Do you need 3 claim numbers if you hace 3 items in one receipt?

    • +1

I thought you could only select 1 item per claim form, so 3 items per person = 3 claims per person.

      • How about if you purchase 2 same items?

I purchase 2 same items in 1 receipt. Do I need to do 2 claim numbers?

  • Has anyone got their cash back yet?

    • The website says "Your 30% of the RRP cash-back will be deposited into your nominated bank account by 30th August 2012."

Regardless of when you bought it, I would say they will process the cashback all in one batch, so you will get it back mid to late August.

      • Emailed my claim, got an email on 4/6 "as you are among the first to claim you should expect payment in the next 2-3 weeks" - still waiting.

  • Got my cashback, but my bank (Suncorp - fee free account) slugged me with
    RTGS INWARD FEE $2.50
RTGS DEPOSIT $20.99 (Wireless 2000 keyboard)
as the deposit was a Telegraphic Transfer!!!
    http://www.suncorpbank.com.au/personal/foreign-exchange/inbo…

"No fee applies unless payment is received as a Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS).
A fee of $2.50 applies for RTGS inward payments."
    Was not expecting that.

Not sure if other banks slug you for this fee - tried a quick search.
My Family will be hit for $7.50 bank fees on $50.97 cashback.
Sent a complaint to the promoters & will talk with the bank.
    Anyone else have that???

    • +1

That doesn't sound like a bank account an ozbargainer should have… time to switch banks!

      • Only other charge ever was for depositing foreign cheque. So second fee/charge in over 20 years banking with Suncorp. Rest of family uses same bank - so a $2.50 fee each.

I was not aware of this fee as it was not one I had used or expected to use. Every other cashback I have used has been in form of cheque or card. If I had known about the type of transfer used in this promotion & it attracted a bank fee, could have given one of my other bank details.

      • What bank did you use to avoid fee?

        • NAB Gold Banking

        • Ah - GOLD! As I am a frugal bastard who rarely works, just travels most of the year - they won't let me have that account. Just closed my basic NAB account the other day.

  • thanks bruce for letting us know that they used Real time gross settlement systems (RTGS). that really suxs i wouldn't have brought anything if i knew they would be paying via rtgs. i cant see why they cant make a normal local bank transfer if their bank is based in oz. actually suncorp rtgs fee is not too bad compared to others http://www.tracenotes.com/reports/australia-bank-transfer.ht… Bruce do you know if it was a Local Transfer (RTGS)or a intl one ? if its a local one citibank and if its nab to nab i think they dont charge but don't quote me on that. I think i might be calling MS and and citibank tomorrow to find out and if it is true then i will try and change the bank account number I provided as i think i might get slugged with a $10 inward fee. If anyone knows of any other Au banks that dont charge for RTGS inward transfers from abroad or local
    Australian banks please inform us?

    • $10 Fee to receive funds???
      Fffffffk.

    • BankSA seems to charge $20 for RTGS or TT! HSBC charges $10 unless Im reading it wrong.

    • No response yet from email to MS after 15 hours.
Don't know if Intl or local transfer - will ask Suncorp.
I've got 1 more claim to lodge, so may use my Citibank account.
Certainly not what I expected when I bought MS products - to be slugged with bank fees.

I'd suggest irate emails to MS promoters: [email protected]

    • Jeez a lot of the cashbacks are less then that!
Might actually end up paying over retail in fees if its something small like that centercom mouse @$12.99

Was going to grab some stuff tomorrow - reconsidering…

    • That's really bizarre, them using a TT. I think it's not cheap for them to do a TT either, so I'm really puzzled.

My credit union doesn't specify the charge for an inward TT, only that it depends on the institutions involved and that it's deducted from the transfer. Boy this sux if it takes a big chunk out of the cashback.

  • I've never been slugged with any fee when receiving a cashback from MS and I've made a few over the years including most recently the xbox accessories cashback which also used Promtel as the promotion handler. Maybe its on the bank end as i'm with commbank

  • Clear misleading and deceptive advertising by Microsoft.

Their bold promise to customers should clearly read:''30 per cent cash back LESS ANY transfer fees that your bank may charge''

Please check with your bank for details before purchase.

Anything less than this level of alert is clearly misleading on Microsofts behalf.

They need to be crystal clear to ensure that each customer receives EXACTLY 30 PER CENT cash back if that is their initial bold promise.

Mass claims to the ACCC.gov.au should instigate an investigation of this scam.

  • Anyone know the story with Westpac?
Want to buy some more things - its the last day today.

  • +1

    In case it helps others:
I spoke to Westpac, they claim there is no fee to receive payments via RTGS with a standard account type so long as the payment is issued within Australia, otherwise its $12 for an electronic payment, $20 for a cheque.

    • +1

      My transaction says

      RTGS ARVATO DIGITAL SERVIESTATE SINGAPORE
      INTER-BANK CREDIT RTGS CREDIT

So it may be issued from Singapore

      • Oh sheet, guess I'll not go grab those other items then.
        Thanks!

      • Damn - I'll be in Singapore on Tuesday - should have picked it up there!

  • Response from MS promoters:
"We have received your email and passed it on to the Promotions Director." (5 July 10:34)

Send your complaints to [email protected] !!!

    • We are aware of the fees that bank have been charging and are working toward resolving this issue as soon as possible.

      Regards,

      The Cashback Team

  • Finally it makes so much sense now. I am with Suncorp as well I received $14.99 and was decuted by $2.5 for the same reason stated above. This sucks!

    • I also checked my second cashback which was post before they changed the rule of one for each person. The cashback was deposited to NAB and there was no fee charged!

  • Called the promoters today — apparently they are aware of the issue and working on a solution.

They said this should not affect users once redemptions go through.
