Pull the trigger or wait? Hoping to get the 6600 XT for 350?

    • +10

You are generous. I am hoping for 250.

      • +4

        Meet me half-way, $300

        • +2

          I'll go $275

          • +8

@kml22: I like the negotiation without vendor.

      • When do you think it will reach that price? Which gpu do you have rn?

        • Some people are suspecting a price drop with the next generation of cards coming soon. Personally I’d take a look at the second hand market

        • I'm no expert but I'm guessing in 2 weeks (tm)

          I had an og 3060ti I sold for $1450
Downgraded to 3050 for $600 (yuck)
Downgraded? After that to a 6600

    • I said it in the other thread, I really doubt it will drop much lower than this. Unfortunately this seller isn't part of the Amd free game program making the other deal more desirable.
But they are going back to promoting games with their cards rather than dropping prices now.
I could see the xt going to $350

      • -1

Pretty sure the xt was $350 the other day

    • +1

Got a 6600xt for $419 yesterday to go with i5 12400F build. Regret for not HODL :'(. Should have gotten i5 12400 and waited.

      • +1

XT is better than this isn't it? In the end you might not have saved much, maybe a few tens of dollars if you'd waited a few more weeks and not had your PC.

AFAIK Asrock is also cheaper build quality so you might have gotten better cooling, backplate protection, etc.

      • yea and that xfx off ple was 399$ and they can't give me 20$ refund but will give me better pricing on next order they said.

    • +4

w8 m8 otherwise you will have taken their b8 but dw you aint l8 in fact you are right to hesit8 bcuz those who bought this str8 out of the g8 are now in dire str8s bcuz they paid more than the recommended r8 which was already far too gr8 so now all they do is h8 bcuz they are ir8

  • +7

Hopefully sub 200 soon and then I can finally upgrade my 3400g

  • +5

I'm gunna burst soon. I need a new card.

  • Thanks OP, but personlly still have no confidence to buy thus brand in here.

    • +3

I’d take astock any day than gigabyte

      • +2

this is like choosing between getting crushed by a rhino and a hippo

      • i'd personally take neither and go for asus msi or powercolor

      • Amen on that.

    • +1

      Have one, card works nicely
Has same warranty as everything else on the market?

    • I'd prefer a sapphire or xfx but i'd take this asrock over another brand for $50 more. Perceived brand quality is a pretty shit proxy for actual model quality which changes board to board, model to model. Unfortunately the tech press rarely do in depth reviews and comparisons of specific boards (beyond noise level and temp)…

  • +2

Looking for an 6700XT under $600. Lets make that happen.

    • +2

      $300 is under $600.

Let's see where we go as more miners dump tens of thousands of cards…

      • +1

If Eth actually goes PoS I believe there will be millions or possibly 10s of millions of cards globally. I'd be surprised if Australia only had a few 10s of thousands.
I'm pretty sure a bunch of miners will hodl until they know for sure it's happening this time.

  • +2

Wa wa wee wa, it wasn't a fluke!

    • +1

So little stock has moved since march across all our retailers, i'm surprised it took this long.

  • +1

Nice improvement over an old 1070. Cheap Gpu for everybody :))

  • +1

would this card blow GTA V away? havent played it yet cos my cards sucked for about 10 years now

    • +3

      Yeah easily.

      • cheers. cant wait to tax deduct this. do you think theres a better value card? im willing to spend a bit more. up to 400-500?

        • xt version is worth the extra $100 when it drops to $399 imo

          • +1

            @s1Lence: The non-xt still wins in $/frames.

But there's an argument to be made that the 6600xt is worth it because the extra performance bump is just about enough to make it a okay choice for 1440p, whereas the 6600 is mostly better suited for 1080p for recent titles. Depends what OPs target resolution and refresh rate is, really.

            • +1

@snep: cheaper cards always win in dollar per frame, part of the value criteria for me is how well it will hold up in years to come and for only $100 more you get quite a bit in that department (especially if you aren't planning on upgrading the card in the future)

              • +1

@s1Lence: It's usually cheaper to buy the best $/fps slightly more often, but if someone doesn't want to buy as often I can see going high end as being more efficient for personal time investment.

If i was willing to jump from $300 6600 to a $400 6600xt for the +18% bump, i'd be looking instead to jump to $600 for a 6700xt and score not only another +30% (+50 over the 6600) raster perf, but increased memory bus width and 16x pcie making it scale better 1440p/4K card and be more "future proof".

                • +2

@ssfps: I'd only purchased the 6600XT if I was not planning on upgrading it in the future (if it was basically the best GPU to pair with the system, anything greater would be bottlenecked by the CPU for example). Otherwise why not spend the $300 on a 6600 now and another $300 on, a 9600 for 300 in a few years which would outperform the 6700xt and cost the same amount?

            • @snep: I agree with this, the extra 100 might make it worthwhile because it can handle 1440p more confidently with some tweaking.

        • +1
  • +3

Faster than a GTX 1080 for $299, noice.

  • Yeah bought 2 lol

    • +4

this dude trying to set them up in crossfire lmao

  • +3

Is this worthwhile from rx570 ?

    • +5

Approx 210% the FPS of the rx570 (30fps to 63fps)

    • +1

hell yes (assuming your cpu isnt ancient)

    • The 6600 XT is about 15% faster. It makes sense to get the 6600 XT if it falls below $345. Most people don't swap GPUs very often and that extra 15% might be enough to guarantee 60FPS @1440p on all titles.

      • Thanks, another issue is my 400W seasonic platinum fanless PS - although I’ve seen a review where they tried to burn it at 650 W with zero air and it lasted for days. So it’s kinda down-rated.

I currently run 1080P ultrawide. So I guess it’s 33% more pixels than std 1080P. But 1440p is 70% more pixels.

Maybe RX6600 is the sweet spot for me…

  • -4

28 mhs… bro.. this is so good

  • This would be a significant upgrade on a GeForce 1060, no?

    • +1

      hyooj upgrade

      • +1

        You sound Korean there.
        But agreed

    • +1

Its like upgrading to a RTX2070

      • The core yes. The memory side is half bitrate.

tfw when retailers start dumping before the miners do

or is this gorilla warfare tactics

either way a moment of silence for the cryptobros that funded the wall of gpu's

  • It's been awhile since I looked into hardware but I'm running a HD7850 card, with an I5 4590 on 1080P

The motherboard CPUZ tells me that it's connected to is Asrock h81m DGS with apparently 1 PCIe 2.0 x16, 1 PCIe 2.0 x1

1/ will the motherboard be able to take the card and

2/ is it going to be slow with an older PCEi and so better to maybe just get a new system?

    Thanks.

    • +2

it'll take the card just won't run at full speed, guessing you'll get 90%+ of the performance but you should google just to make sure

    • +2

With that CPU you probably won't see an increase in frames. I was on a 4690 earlier this year with a GTX 1060 3gb (which I think is weaker than this card), and replacing the CPU with a 12400F massively improved my frames, with the same GPU. The graphics card wasn't able to run anywhere near its full performance before on the old CPU.

      • +1

Thanks for that. New system it is then. Cheers.

        • +2

The 12100 and 12400 are both currently excellent budget CPUs which will handle games pretty well. DDR4 ram is still the way to go since DDR5 is pretty expensive. With a video card like this you'll probably be sweet, though going a little higher on the CPU and GPU wouldn't hurt.

  • OOS, was in checkout too Sadge

  • Both msy and this deal sold out in a couple of hrs..

    • +2

      Will be another one tmr.

    • +1

People love the Asrocks. They give the illusion of a bargain and sell out within hours everytime. When the Asrock 6600xt was $499 it went within 10 minutes.

  • -3

lol maja raja 29.2 mh/s with coupon

    • +2

What does it mean in English?

      • I think Jimmy's saying "live like a king" based on the 29.2 mh/s Ethereum hashrate (reasonably efficient card power wise but at the current price of Ethereum, 29.2 mh/s will get you basically nothing per day). The efficiency was more impressive before the LHR lock was cracked and now it's just OK.
