Does it count as a sale if nearly everywhere else is selling it for the same price?

    • Definitely a valid point, more just it's at the price point where they got sold out of stock.

    • 1099 w shipping via amazon au fulfilled by Harris tech with a eta date of July 14. Gotta admit the safety blanket offered by amazon is always worth feeding the megacorp

July 11/12 for prime day. However have not seen amazon fulfilling themselves for quite some time

  • Not available for delivery.

    • Oh they've just changed it. Guess one of the other stores could be the better option.

  • Been thinking of upgrading, but wouldn't 48 be too big unless you're a sitting a decent distance from your desk?

    • 49 ultra wide is fine, it's just 2x27s side by side.

This has quite a bit more area due to the ratio…
I think it would still be good though.

      • +1

This is not ultrawide. The vertical height is usually the issue with big monitors like this.

Imagine trying to find your chrome tabs.

          Custom resolutions.

Ultrawide isn't tall. This is. UW sits at eye levels easily.

A 32 on my desk looked clumsier than my 49 UW.

        • Interesting points to consider. I've always thought my 34 UW was too short in height but maybe you're right about the eye level thing. I've never thought about a monitor being too tall.

          • +1

@Fotato: I had 34 curved UW for years till I upgraded to 49.

But in between I added a 32 and it was sold within weeks. I have a large corner desk and it was obnoxiously big.

I've also got a 48 oled in the room but on the other side.

If you've got a long or deep desk, especially corner, UW 49 in the end is just 2 27s without the bezel. Easy.

The height is the real problem of big 16:9 displays.

I run a Philips 43" 4k monitor and it's borderline too big for my 80cm deep desk. Would love to get one of these but really worried 48 is too big.

      • I run a triple monitor set up (27, 32, 27) on a 90cm deep desk and I'm thinking of replacing them with this one too…mainly tempted as it's OLED and can act as a gaming or movie screen after work.

      • Use this website to compare
        http://www.displaywars.com/43-inch-16x9-vs-48-inch-16x9

Not much of a difference 43 vs 48.

However coming from ultrawide (say 34), it is a huge difference. If you have a 27 inch monitor, use it in portrait mode and its height is about 0.75 that of 48

      • It’s not, I upgraded my LG 43 to this 48 and hung on my wall, just had to slide the desk 10cm away from the wall and it’s just right.

    • I brought this monitor earlier in the week, picked it up today but yet to unbox etc. I have one of these tv stands on the way, my plan is to pull my desk out 30cm and have the tv on the stand behind the desk (70cm deep), will give me 1m from the screen, might need to pull it back further will have to wait and see

      • Looks like a great idea.
I'm getting the same stand with this monitor.
Also gonna pick up a new desk from Ikea for it.

  • Gigabyte says this monitor won the "COMPUTEX 2022 Best Choice Award!"

I'm not familiar with this monitor, but when I saw it's rough specs for the price, I was definitely giving my old $900 27" 60hz monitor a salty look.

I'd personally check to see if Hardware Unboxed(YouTube) has done one of their thorough monitor reviews if you plan on purchasing this yourself.

In regards to the size being out of proportion(previous comments), I'd think that wall mounting it behind your desk or with a flexible monitor stand would give it a more appropriate appearance.

    • +2

Hardware unboxed have reviewed it… Conclusion: great value for money, is it the best of course not, but its $1100, half the price of competitors.

      • Pricing was higher when they reviewed it last year and was decent option then vs LG, now it’s just a banger of a deal. Very happy with mine so far.

  • At 48", how is this different to a TV?

    • +3

      TVs don't offer Displayport.
At 48", you won't find a OLED at this price.
