Leadtek GeForce WinFast RTX 3070 Ti HURRICANE 8G Video Card $849 Delivered @ BPC Tech

210

Yet another price drop for the 3070 Ti which brings it to a new all time low of $849. This matches it with the current cheapest model of RX 6800 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/708772), while offering Nvidia features such as DLSS, better ray tracing and NVENC. If those features don't matter to you, the RX 6800 offers slightly better rasterisation performance and double the VRAM.

The recent $999 6900 XT was strictly speaking a better deal than the two options above, so for those who don't need a graphics card now, I would keep holding for further price drops :)

For ITX builders, keep in mind that this is a big card - 3 slots wide and 323mm long.

Just beware, apparently these GPUs have non-turnoffable, non-customisable party lights on the fans.

      snip

Assumes the fans aren't just running one cable for power and party lights (which is suspect they will be).

just beware it's almost a grand for a mid range gpu. I'd say that's much more noteworthy than led fans

      • -3

Only to you, who has some kind of weird agenda to push. To everyone else, it's just a decent deal for a decent card.

        • Haha what? It's the 5th model from the top.

In what world isn't that a mid range gpu? It's also $850 to everyone (not just to me).

Delusion won't make this card more prestigious. Not to say it's shit but it's midrange. Even the upcoming low range 4060 will be similar performance. It's a crap deal (too expensive for mid range card). It still has some crypto tax left on it to disappear

@Jimmy77: The 3080ti/3090/3090ti are within spitting distance of one another, calling them 3 different classes of gpus is being extremely generous…

It's so funny that people are considering xx70ti class of cards mid tier now lol when xx60 class cards are the mid range cutoff. Just because nvidia no longer makes low end cards doesn't make 3070ti mid range.

            • @JerraJones: Nvidia don't only make high end cards the recent prices were inflated due to crypto. The prices are still above msrp. They're not high range cards they are overpriced budget cards. There's a difference

50 & 60 series have always been aimed toward the budget/entry level market. 70 series is midrange. That's how nvidia have structured it for 10 years and 3000 series is no exception. This isn't the first crypto wave to happen over the past decade lol.

      • Cue people telling you it’s a good deal because last year it was $1700 /s

        • Amen that's what ozbargain is now. I see a salty miner negged your comment lol they can't do anything else (like counter argue)

  • I have been using my onboard VGA for several months now and thinking of upgrading to dedicated graphics.
I'm a little bit worried about the power consumption of these power-hungry cards.

Can someone please tell me is it possible to activate the dedicated graphic card only when I need it (like when playing games)? I want to use the onboard graphics during normal use

    • +2

The power consumption of a card will only be about 10w on desktop use, so its nothing to really worry about. I believe on Intel CPUs there will be a setting within windows as to which graphics card you'll want to use, which is available when connected to the iGPU and having a dedicated graphics card in your PC. However I reckon that the idle GPU will use the same amount of power just being there even when displaying nothing.

      • Thanks. here it says the average power consumption is 220W

I run my PC all day x 7 days

        • +1

Not when it's idle (or not performing GPU intensive tasks)

          • +1

@drprox: So, that means I don't have to worry about my electricity bill if I run the PC 20 hours x 7 days?
I wouldn't mind a slight increase in the bill, but don't want any surprises

        • Yeah, that's under full load (gaming, no frame limit). It's closer to 10-15W at idle/general productivity and 20-25W watching high-res videos. You're good.

For what it's worth the 3070 ti uses significantly more power than the 3070, so if you're looking at power specs, make sure you're looking at the right model.

          • @Erwark: Thanks mate. I'm thinking of getting a powerful VGA(probably, the 3080 model) that can serve me for the next few years. Just a bit worried about how it consumes the electricity as I'm running my PC all-day

            • @androider: Just make sure you also have a power supply with the right cables for it. High end GPUs need more power and dedicated cables for multiple plugs.

Personally I've worked in 3D and AI and gamed on my home PC for decades and have never felt the need to go this high in a GPU tier. The value for money drops off fast once you pass the xx60 in each gen (currently the 3060 Ti is probably the best choice) and then is just little extra gains for big costs and power requirements, and is really just for enthusiasts. AMD cards are currently much better value for money unless you have a program which specifically benefits from something NVidia related (I do some AI stuff on Windows so have to stick to NVidia cards for now).

              • @CodeExplode: Thanks for sharing your experience. I mainly use Premiere and DaVinci Resolve and they are both better with Nvidia. Do you reckon I would go for xx60 than considering xx70 or xx80?

    • +1

Go to Graphics settings in Windows, you can set each application or games which one to use dedicated or integrated graphics.

    • +1

just get 6600xt and skip next gen. 160w and won't diminish your gaming experience

Unless you for some reason want to play Cyberpunk & MSFS2020 .ie Essentially 3dmark03 20 years later….aka no reason to bother

      • I'm mainly buying this for video editing. Do you reckon 3080 would be a good choice?

        • +1

Sorry no clue in regards to video editing. I've heard 3080 is great though

not a gen Z cards, they ain't born yet when it first came out…

      • -1

They also like laughing at people who think gpu's are too expensive. They were like 10 years old when GTX 500 series was released lol (they know nothing about pc)

The next gen will be telling us "we want lettuce for free" (when we complain about paying $20 for it)

        • +2

You seem to be quite excited about all of this.

          • -1

@FabMan: I am. I've been telling everyone this is another crypto cycle, not inflation or "the new normal' for like 18 months. They called me a noob when infact they're too young to even know or simply don't understand economics (or just supply/demand).

This is probably the first gpu cycle these arrogant noobs have lived through. Yet they had the audacity to drown out the experienced individuals and rewrite history with their naive hyperinflation bs.

Obviously I'm still unhappy with prices because these cards are still blatantly overpriced. Despite all the idiot gen z trolls on here saying they're not overpriced. Both gpu companies still have a crypto hangover influencing their current msrp.

            • +1

@Jimmy77: "Both gpu companies still have a crypto hangover influencing their current msrp."

I agree with this view, but you are acting arrogant and overly aggressive about this. Just this post is filled with your belief that you are unquestionably right and that they must be trolling you or idiots to disagree with you. I don't think you need to get so excited about this, your point about the GPUs seems very valid here, but not everyone will agree with you, and they don't have to be trolls or idiots to do so.

lol keep upvoting deals that will make you look bad in 3 weeks

People here burnt their ozbargain badges long ago. It's the $499 asrock 6600xt all over again

  • Does this have a back plate?

    • +1

Yes it does, there's a graphic on the product page if you scroll down: https://www.leadtek.com/eng/products/graphics_cards(1)/WinFast_RTX_3070_Ti_HURRICANE_8G(40927)/detail

  • +1

    3070 ti or 6800

    • +1

Tough pick! I'd say that it depends on what you're using the graphics card for / which games you play, as that determines whether the Nvidia features are worth the VRAM + slight raster performance downgrade.

Haven't seen leadtek been mentioned in years
