Metro 2033 $3.13 USD (STEAM Key) GameStop

720

The webpage has a habit of changing the prices regularly. You might need to try again and again for a while before you get this price. I waited 3 minutes.

Proof Invoice: http://aciai.me/i/fEu4e.png

Be Aware: If you get $3.22, that's the AUD price. $3.13 is the USD price. It's not going to go any lower!

Also, Saints Row 3 ($12.80). Same process! http://www.impulsedriven.com/saintsrow3

  • I got it after about 15 refreshes, thanks a bunch :D

    • No problem bro. + the deal, so that more people will see!

    • looks like a coding glitch

      btw thanks op!

  • On steam its currently $4.99 Not sure if gamestop is steam version.

    • It is. You get a steam key.

      • Did the steam key come later on or did you get it with the confirmation of payment. I can't seem to see the steam key

        • PRODUCT CODES

If your software is prompting for a product code when run, you can right click on its entry in GameStop App and select "View Registration" to access that title's product code. You also have the option to copy the product code to the clipboard for easy pasting.

        • thanks just found out how and was just about to post how to do it

  • +1

Got it for $3.22, thats close enough :) thanks OP

    • $3.22 is the AUD price. :)

      • +1

Ahh well I dont feel like an idiot for paying more now :) Activated on steam and downloading now. Played it on Xbox and it was okay, but I have so many games on steam that I buy cheap and then never play :\

        • +1

lol, I have 246 games on steam of which I have only played 35.

The rest are on the to-do list. ;)

        • But hey we save so much money by buying cheap, even if we dont play them for 2 years :D

        • Woah. I've only got 20 games on Steam that I've bought over the past 4 years.

        • rldowling03, Lol so true.

MrZ, I am an impulse buyer. Have an OCD for cheap games.

      • Got mine for $3.20 aud ;)

  • weird, it went from $3.22 to $6.03 between refreshes for me

  • +2

Thanks op worked like you said. Needed about 6 refreshes before $3.29 came up

    • am I the only one who the price is going up for? Its now up to $17.48 for me now, should've grabbed it when I first saw it at $3.22

      • Just refresh a couple more times and zap it at $3.22 AUD.

        • +1

sweet I was sceptical but it eventually worked after a few minutes of refreshes - cheers!

  • Any idea how long it's on sale for?

    • Nope. Was sheer luck that I discovered this.

  • +1

Got it for $3.13 USD first try, thanks OP.

  • Do you need to have it in your cart or on the main page. Refreshed about 30 times, still $6.03 for me.
Edit, Changed to $17 now :\

    • Main page. Then you add to cart.

  • OK, bought. Where is my steam key.
    EDIT: never mind.

  • Quick question: do you need to download the Impulse client to get the Steam key? I want to buy SR3, but am not terribly keen on installing random programs I have little need for.

    • No, the Steam key should be on your emailed receipt. It's just not obvious.

      • I couldn't find it in the email, so I had to install the 'app'. The Steam key shows up in the game listing on the client, so you can just uninstall it after getting the key, as R.R.P said.

  • +1

Yeah, just uninstall it once you've got your keys. That's what I've done.

Is this game even worth it?? just saw a preview and its 2 years old but never heard of it before

    • Download the demo and decide for yourself.

    • its not your run of the mill FPS. Its more about immersion and atmosphere with this one, and strange russian accents. I only played it on xbox, so can't comment on PC graphics.

    • I didn't expect to like it but it was a super fun game.

    • It is to this date one of the most GPU-demanding titles ever released along with Crysis.
      Fully DX11.
Looks fan-friggin'-tastic if you can run it.

Make sure your rig is up to spec before even bothering attempting to play it. Metro 2033 makes even a GTX 590 cry in some sections @ 1920x1080.

In terms of gameplay, it's mostly a nuclear-apocalyptic survival horror tale (some similarities to Fallout) about bands of survivors huddling together in the Russian Metro subway system and venturing out into the ravaged wilderness for supplies whilst fending off mutated horrors.

Being that it's from an Eastern European developer however, it has a very adult/realistic twist, sort of like The Witcher. Or the latest Arma II mod Day-Z.
For instance you have to change your gas mask air filter ever so often and the longer you wear them to more the condensation from your breath obscures your vision to the point where you can't see anything.
When you need to check your objectives in the dark your character will hold a lighter up to a journal but this risks alerting nearby enemies.
Ammunition is the in-game currency, which means you have to make a choice between firepower and buying power quite often and the weapons are incredibly fragile and often jam/break (apart from incredibly expensive military-grade ones).
Enemies kill you incredibly quickly and often jump attack from different stories/angles.

It's most similar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Cryostasis in terms of atmosphere.

Nonetheless it's a very innovative and novel game; you probably haven't played anything like it before.

      • Hmm, it ran okay on my Core 2 Duo with Geforce 9800GT (512mb). I run games only at 1680x1050, which is more than enough (on a 22"). No need for 1920. I have XP so can only run DX9.

So… is your time machine finished yet? Or do you just need the Flux Capacitor?

        • What do you mean?

  • thank you sir!

  • Awesome deal - thanks! Took a few refreshes but got there in the end

  • Took a few goes to get it at the lower price - was saying $17 for a while then just got it for A$3.20 Nice deal!

  • Is this really PC only? I thought Steam was cross-platform? I'm a Mac.

    • Guess it depends if the game is available for MAC. If it is then it's worth a shot for $3.20 (which won't even buy you a decent coffee these days!)

    • Steam being cross platform does not mean all the games on it are going to work on Macs.

      • ^ This.

Check the Steam page if you're not sure and if it says 'Steam Play' above the add to cart button with an Apple icon (like this) then it is a cross-compatible game.

An example of it on a Steam page is here. Metro 2033 doesn't have it on it's Steam page so it is therefore currently PC only.

  • There's also the bundle deal of the week on the site. This week is Men of War complete bundle for A$28.15 - Dunno if it's a good game or not though lol

  • Cool, thanks for that.

No idea if i will get around to playing it but still bought it :)

  • Is what they call:

    Customer Name: Ashley Aitken
    Order Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX-1234567890

    the Steam Code?

I tried in Mac Steam and it didn't seem to like the code?

Do I have to download the GameStop App to get the Steam Code?

Is this a PC only steam code? I'm confused.

    • Yes you need the app installed to get the code. If you don't have a PC then get a friend to do it on theirs.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    It's changed to $6.00 as of 1:30pm!!

Why did I have a shower! WHYYYYYY!

    • +3

      Telios,

Keep refreshing. Mine said $17.00, then $9.40, then $6.00, then finally went down to $3.20 on my 7th refresh. Keep trying!

      • +1

        Huh, that worked. Rad.

      • +1

I added it when it was $3.20 but in the basket it says $6.00 AUD and won't change.

Nevermind, I removed it, added it again and got $3.20 AUD in the cart.

  • Got it.

    True Story

  • This is ridiculous about the changing of prices constantly,

Is that what this business is doing now in order to make more money, change the price, and hope the customer doesnt pick it up

This is lame! I refuse to buy any games from a company that stoops this low, regardless of how cheap it is.

    • +7

      Exchange rates are very volatile

      • Ya I think the system is updating prices every 30minutes or so based on Live trade data.

        • +4

          30 minutes? More like 15 seconds….

  • Was at $17 for me. Refreshed 5 times, got it at AU$3.20.

    Nice find.

  • Got it for $3.20 :) (After a couple refreshes).

  • Loved this game

  • Thanks for this. With the sequel coming out it's a good opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.

  • +5

Purchased this yesterday for the AU$3.20 amount. Steam key works fine.

Got a call from bank this morning to inform me that the company have been making unauthorised charges on my credit card. Log into my bank account and they have made an additional charge of AU$2.05 on my credit card without my ok.

Might be worth other members checking their payment statements for this. I am getting my bank to do a charge back, as vendor has no way of contacting them to dispute this.

    • +1

I have that same charge on my card. Wonder whether it's an authorisation charge.

    • +1

      Same here.

You can contact them for billing inquiries at [email protected], according to my receipt email.

    • What did you pay with? I paid with PayPal and I have no such charge against my account. Good thing that you did a charge back. $2.05 is unjustifiable when buying something that costs $3.22.

Hope it works out for everyone in the same situation.

  • Edit: all good. Works a charm.

  • worked for me after 15+ refreshes.

  • Mmm it must have been a glitch or something to allow you to get the game for $3.20… seems like its fixed to $89.54 now! :(((((

    • Was on sale for 4 days ending Monday midnight US time which was an hour before you posted your comment.. ouch
