                • @AlienC: I think dryer should place on flat surface, I don’t know the temperature bottom of dryer, or does it need space like fridge, water leaking, water spill potential etc. I think you can download and check the manual before you buy.
                  My model https://www.beko.com/au-en/home-appliances/tumble-dryer/tumb…
                  Newer model https://www.beko.com/au-en/home-appliances/tumble-dryer/tumb…
This is 7kg though, 5 years warranty through registration. Cheapest price probably from appliance center $880 delivered. Or you may try price match from other stores.

                  • @stevelo: Thanks stevelo this is very helpful.

Yeah I think what's most important is to find a flat and stable surface as it moves and spins a lot.

Honestly excited to try find one but I love researching to find the most appropriate one for my use case scenario that's the most fun part imho hehe lol.

        • I've always had my drier outdoors on the patio.
Less dust, quicker drying and no condensation!

          • +1

@Silvo: Haven't got a patio just an under shelter area but even that place gets wet up to the house wall when the wind picks up.

I have a space down stairs that is pretty dry concrete ground but no where to empty the water out too so it would just spill onto the ground.. But the room gets some water leakage in heavy rain any ways and the shower is near so I guess I could empty the water into there.

That seems the best place atm actually.. Yeah outside at my place gets wet everywhere even under the shelter.. That's how my clothes kept getting wet even though we made a clothesline under shelter.. The wind blows it into the whole area.

    • I have mine draining down the same place as my washer. I have been wanting to extend the hose so it isn't pulled so tight but haven't been to bothered so haven't done it.

      • No space near my washer it's in the corner with the sink on the other side but across it past the door is an unused shower so I might put it there and either terminate the shower head or put a sign not to use it.. But hopefully the presence of a dryer in the shower plugged into the wall socket will be enough sign and warning for someone not to randomly take a shower with a plugged in appliance but we will see who knows.

  • shucks i just bought the 7kg vented dryer aldi had a couple of weeks ago :( Although it was only $229 , should i have waited for this dryer instead?

I know heat pump has better energy ratings so does that mean less of a electricity bill compared to the vented dryer?

I'm just leaving my vented dryer in the garage as i have a small house

    • My experience is 5 kWh per load vented vs 2 kWh heat pump (roughly as load size varies).

      • i guess long term the head pump would be better but i guess i'm only going to be using the vented dryer when its not that hot to dry (like the current sydney weather we are having) else i'll just normal air dry the clothes so i guess i'll stick with the vented dryer for now

        • Vented dryers are fastest in drying too

      • How did you measure that? Where did the vented unit exhaust to?

        • +2

I had a Bauhn power meter (https://support.balcobrands.com/hc/en-us/articles/202698615-…) connected while running full cycle.
The vented dryer had its exhaust hose in the window. The window is awning so it did suck some of the moisture back but not much :-)

          • @Crimzic: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/bauhn-pa39085

Wow can't believe it was only reported once and that was in 2015 from ALDI for $14.99

I am going to guess you got it from Aldi awhile ago.

Seems to have only been sold in ALDI as Google results only return instruction manual pdf files and one eBay result from Taguig, Philippines for $95 + $85 delivery AUD (total $180 AUD).

            • @AlienC: I didn't know it was such an old thing. My wife got it for free about 3 years ago from someone on Facebook Market :-D Unfortunately though, it died a few weeks ago, shortly after I used it on my new heat pump dryer :-(

        • if i had a bigger laundry room then i would have liked to invest in this heat pump dryer and washing machine, looks cool the grey colour.

Alas i just currently have it in my small garage and the vented exhaust is just going to the back porch when i use it lol

          • @prankster: I'm in the same situation here.

I have an old top loader Simpson brand I believe.

My options are to do gym workout every time I use it and lift 52kg putting it up and down every time I need to use the washer lol or run it in an empty open shower that has never been used in the 6 years I have lived here and is accumulating dirt and pray that no one takes a shower with a plugged in appliance while I'm not at home (have seen worse things).

    • If you are in SA you should definitely try to get a heat pump and sell your vented. You can get a rebate from the govt. through YESS which would bring your cost down to $100ish dollars if you can snag one from Aldi.

  • Can someone recommended a cheap but reliable wall mountable vented dryer? I know I missed that $229 Aldi one :(

    What I am corrently considering:
    Haier 5kg Vented Dryer HDV50E1
    Haier 6kg Vented Dryer HDV60A1
    Esatto 7kg Vented Dryer EVD7
Electrolux 6kg Vented Tumble Dryer EDV605H3WB

    they are all $500 - $600 :(

    • +2

good luck getting someone to recommend vented dryer under this heat pump dryer post!

  • OP, how are you managing to access the 16 July Special Buys? In app and on site, can only see 6th and 9th.
Can certainly follow your link and once there navigate to the other items for the 16th but how did you land there to begin with?

      • Thanks @AlienC. I could see the url and tried out the 20th to see if that was available yet (it's not) but wanted to know if that's how OP got the heads up on this deal or if s/he has other magic. I've been enjoying Aldi's specials lately and don't want to miss out on goodies in the Aldi Aisle of Shame.

        • No problem caperite.

Yeah who knows OP could be a spy.

    • +2

No magic. I found the deal by looking at the catalogue at Best Aussie Online Marketplace Deals on Facebook. It was user bdl who found the direct address https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710729#comment-12361909

Highly considering this but I am thinking of going the extra mile for an auto sensor dryer for safety concerns.

Knowing my housemates this is another potential fire hazard.

I swear to God they just press random things and walk away.

Kind of in disbelief how they are still alive.

    • Beko dryers have sensors, but more pricier.

    • Almost certain this has a sensor function, most modern heat pump dryers are moisture sensing.

      • Mine certainly is, don't recall seeing it in the marketing but if I set it to a cycle that says 2.5hrs if the stuff is relatively dry or there isn't much it will be finished a lot quicker than that.

    • not much good reviews but of course you hope the one you buy isn't a dud

plus if its not working properly can just refund it within 60 days

      • +2

yeah, pretty lousy reviews. Will give this a miss. Not worth renting the ute then queue for 1 hour before hoping to get the 4 in stock only to mebbe fight for warranty repair with the third party provider.

  • +1

Wow this half the price for what I paid for Samsung set, maybe I should return them since I'm still waiting month+ to get my washing machine replace as it came damaged.

    • Likely better energy rating on premium models, with significant long term savings.

  • +1

Several seconds grade Beko heat pumps for $632 at Home Clearance (Vic, other states will have a different selection). Also Esatto or Electrolux vented around $450. Price includes delivery

    • Home Clearance states all products come with standard manufracturer's warranty, yet it says 1 year on the page for the dryer. Anyone know if we'd get the 5 year Beko warranty if we buy a "cosmetically damaged" dryer from Home Clearance?

      • Spoke to them via chat and they said that yes, the product comes with the full 2 year warranty, including the extension to 5 years on registration.

    • Want to thank you for this heads-up.

Bought one of these and was delivered this morning, with a smile :-)

And while on the site, I spotted a Weber Spirit II E320 with just a few parts missing. Snapped it up for $439!! Also delivered today.

Ah OzBargain: spend more, save more 🤣

    • For Beko dryer currently says: Apologies, this product is only available for customers in certain areas within VIC

  • -1

Has anyone come across a heat pump dryer that you can mount upside down on the wall?

    • On the wall - unlikely, all of them are too heavy (40kg+)

      • Wish someone would make one! Small laundry's can't accommodate for stacking appliances and the vented ones are so power hungry

        • Small laundry's can't accommodate for stacking appliances

          how low is your ceiling?

          • @SBOB: 3m

            • @xtommyk: how then is stacking appliances not possible in a small laundry?
Stacking seems to be a pretty space efficient option

    • If you have FL washer, just buy a anti vabrate mat and stack them. Just need to make sure your top of your FL washer is bigger than the legs of the dryer. or you could buy a special stacking kits. I don't know any heat pump dryer can be wall mount.

  • Hi guys. Does this have reverse action Tumble thing? Ie goes clock wise n anti clockwise? Just thinking don't wanna throw in a bed sheet n a sock gets caught in the middle n doesn't dry.

  • Isn’t the ‘ auto’ setting the auto sensor?

  • Good one, OP.

let's see if we get any similar deal from Appliance Online / Ebay for Esatto 8 KG.

  • +2

This should be eligible for a small rebate in Victoria too, though I haven't gone through that process yet. Bit of a hassle for $60, but hey - we're all here for a reason!
    https://www.victorianenergysaver.vic.gov.au/save-energy-and-…

  • Hi All,

Is this heat pump the same as the esatto 8kg heat pump but rebranded? (https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/esatto-8kg-heat-…)

I saw bunnings selling this for $697, which is on special till 11/06.

    • Possibly, though comparing photos (even though Aldi's is low res) they look a bit different (different dial and number of buttons). But that might be an inaccuracy with the Aldi photo maybe?

    • Things that are the same with both - dimensions, energy star rating, number of drying programs, delay start, child lock, anti-crease, both model numbers have 'PD80' in them.

Dials and buttons look slightly different.

Would have to be the same machine you would think.

  • Anyone knows how much power the heat pump dryer uses per load?

    • Depends brand and model, heat pump dryer usually consume 120kwh to 160kwh every 52 loads according to the star sticker. Vented dryer probably around 300kwh to 400kwh every 52 loads.

      • thanks steve, if 10c per kwh, is it like $1.20 per use? sorry i am not sure

        • +1

          if heat pump 150kwh/52 = ~2.88kwh/load or $0.86/load
          if vented 320kwh/52 = ~6.15kwh/load or $1.85/load
          * I pay 30c/kwh, but some people may pay lower
          * every heat pump or vented dryer have difference energy consumption, so that just an example.

          • @stevelo: thank you!

          • @stevelo: For vented sensor dryer I'm consistently averaging 1.9 kWh per load measured at the point. This is in current dry winter evening air with good ventilation outside, and made up of a full load smaller clothing items not towels etc. Previously measured 3kwh in rainy humid summer conditions. Still have reservations on seeing corroborating real world usage comparing the dryer types and justifying the economy of a heat pump dryer
. If anything I will buy one to compare these and measure usage with a power meter as I certainly would not pay a hefty premium to move up to using the higher power rating of 3kwh per load according to the star rating.

    • I have the bosch, few months ago during early autumn it was 1.3kwh per load, now deep in winter it was 1.78kwh per load, compared with 4kwh on the old vented one.

Why does Aldi website now say experiencing delays for the dryer, what does this mean, the stock won't be ready as per catalogue sat July 16 launch date?

    • Looks like it could be delayed in some states, website stating "new on sale date to be confirmed." I'll add that so people are aware, thanks.

      • Np, does it say which states is delayed or just a generic msg? Bummer, already arranged a trailer and everything lol

      • Maybe delaying to avoid a riot.

        • No riot at my local aldi, had 2 left, both silver, one with a very busted up box. Now to arrange the transport back home lol

  • Not sure how or why - picked up a dryer from Greensborough today with 1 left in stock.

  • Any "good" reviews for the washing machine?

Understand its 2.2 on the rating website but I am sure there would be buyers out there who had a good experience

  • Is this no more delay? Saw it doesn't show delay any more on web site.

  • Got one ^^ just enough for all those that came when it opened

    • So there is stock? I am stuck at work

      • I was at my local aldi at 8.30 this morning. They had 8 of them for sale and by the time I walked in everyone had those 8 in a trolley already. If you want one I would just go to bunnings and buy the Esatto for $100 more. It's the same machine. Easier to deal direct with bunnings if it blows up too.

    • Just want to know how did you pay for this at the counter, do you pay for it at counter first without bringing the dryer to the counter then arrange for delivery or you have to move the dryer to counter then pay for it.

      • I believe you have to bring it to counter then pay for it.

        • That's very hard. Need hand trolley as well.

    • +1

There were 2 on display and several out the back this morning at my local ALDI. I grabbed one and strangely the thing had water all through it, even in the drum! The cardboard box was not that damp so it is almost like it was left in the rain for a week then packaged in a new box for sale. The water tank tray does not fit in flush, and has some illegible writing on the inside in blue marker. The lint tray is partially melted, though there is no sign that it has ever been used, such as lint.
Anyway, I'll plug it in in a few hours and see if it blows up. Either way I'll likely be returning this within 60 days due to the poor build quality and mysterious water issue.

      • Scores of folk lined up early. Some keen players even got down on the floor to crawl through as the roller door slowly went up. Was a bit of a riot. There may as well have been paramedics and police on hand. For these kinds of deals I do realy think ALDI should offer complimentary ice packs and bandages.
Also noticed that the dryer boxes were soaked with water.

        • I was interested but no able to arrange transportation early so went go just see how these sales went. When they opened a girl came out and announced everyone who wanted washer and dryer to line up take a ticket and she had them labeled you just asked for what you wanted and if available got the ticket. .. about 5 people lined up, I then went over and asked if I could get one and pick up later today - all good.

        • Interesting, my dryer started dropping water when I moved it off my trolley into the car. I'll see how it goes next weekend when I set it all up.

      • Mine had water at the bottom too. The warranty hotline said it is likely transport issue? But there is no evidence of water on the outside.

        Did yours work?

        • I stacked the dryer on the washing machine on a towel (a 'temporary' measure while awaiting a stack matt). My wife has already punished it with over 20 loads and has been happy not to head to out to the garage and use out 20yo conventional dryer that generates too much humidity to run indoors. So unless the thing breaks in the next 56 days, it looks like well be keeping it :D

  • How much do they charge for shipping / delivery?

    • I don't think they have a delivery option like other stores unless it's available online purchases.

  • Still 2 units at mentone vic right now

  • +1

I went in about 840am and there was still heaps, I dragged it to the counter, paid and left. Inside the box the cardboard felt damp. Anyway see how jt goes

  • does the unit come with additional hose if you want to connect the outlet to the drain instead of water tank?

    • Nah it's strictly empty the container only. States in manual after every load.

      • It sucks you have to buy the unit to read the manual to find out it has tank as only option. If i knew that I would have been less likely to buy it

        • 60 days to return

          • @Slippery Fish: Yeah I know it's just annoying, but I found out from a comment further ahead in the thread that you can still attach a drain hose they have just wiped that info from the manual. But they kept information about cleaning a filter that it doesn't include.

  • 2 whites and 1 silver dryer available at Greensborough as of now if anyone interested

  • 5 at newton SA, all white though.

  • +1

I bought the heat pump dryer, but even though the manual and the sticker on the maintenance cover on the lower left door says it has a base filter, it doesn't seem to have one. Does anyone else's have a filter behind the door at the lower leftnon the front of the machine?

    • Mine doesn't have anything but that white solid plastic thing you pull off but it is called the base filter in the manual. It's confusing and I'm not sure how it works right now, but after using it a bit It'll probably make sense.
