A stackable heat pump dryer? Well I'll be.

    • +6

They're all stackable within the same brand with the supplied bracket kits. You just can't wall mount them.

      • +10

doesn't need to be same brand, as long as it fits the top of your front loader nothing will happen, dryer spin much slower and won't vibrate or move around like front loader.

        • Is it safe to presume most front loaders will be heavier than the heat pump dryer (e.g. getting a 8kg dryer to stack on top of a 10kg washer)? Meaning it is safe to stack them on any brand front loaders as long as front loader is bigger than the dryer.

          • +2

@Davesday: Almost always, front loader has bunches of concrete inside as counter weight to hold the drum. Weight difference between a 6kg and 10kg front loader isn't much.

        • +8

No, you need a stacking kit otherwise it's very dangerous. You say it doesn't spin as much but what if you run both at the same time.

          • +4

@Ryanek: I’ve run a Bosch FL and an Esatto heat pump on top simultaneously for over a year. No stacking kit, no issues.

          • +3

@Ryanek: I have Beko heat pump dryer on top of my bosch washer for 2 years, have a anti-vibrate matt (called something like that) in between that bought at Harvery Norman. As long as the top of the washer is bigger than the legs of the dryer, i think it's fine. My heat pump dryer haven't move a mm as I check sometimes.

            • @stevelo: This. Appliance Online actually sells the anti-vibration mat. I think it also keeps the heat pump dryer in position.

              • @Davesday: I had LG dryer on top of samsung combo for a very long time with the same anti slip matt

          • +1

@Ryanek: Only dangerous if you forget to remove the 3 bolt holding the drum of the front loader.

  • +4

Anyone know if Appliances Online matched the price with the equivalent Esatto heat pump dryer when aldi had these last year? Not sure I'm up for the battle / stock lottery at aldi.

    • +20

Did you seriously just ask if they price match a similar but different product? lol

      • +2

It's well known that the 7kg is a rebadged Esatto sold by Appliances Online. Not sure on this 8kg model being sold in 2 weeks, maybe a new model?

        • +3

I mean, it's common sense they wont price match a product from a different company, even if it's only the sticker that's different

          • +9

@nikoris: That’s not true. Bunnings lowered ozito prices to match mitre 10s similar product - happens more than you think.

            • +16

@dammit: Lowering prices to stay competitive in the market is totally different to price matching by customer's request a similar product

              • -5

                @nikoris: Semantics much?

              • +10

@nikoris: I mean die on whatever semantic hill floats your goat. But it’s not an uncommon for people to describe the practice of price reductions in response to a competitor brand sale as price matching.

Appliances Online have adjusted their prices to reflect competitor product sales many times in the past. And chatting about 18v battery tools to staff at bunnings, they’ve referred to price matching Ozito to Aldi and Miter 10 brands when I’ve talked to them in the past, and it’s how many people refer to the practice in OzBargain threads.

Price match guarantees probably won’t apply, and non commission sales staff probably won’t be able to on the spot price match across brands. But asking if somewhere like Appliances Online will price match if you ask seems like a sensible question to me.

      • +2

Could have framed the question better then. I mean match as in what bunnings does with ozito power tools whenever aldi has similar. The Esatto dryers have been around $600 previously.

  • +1

How's the quality and longevity of the pump dryer compared to other brands around same price give or take?

    • +1

Interested in the same information.. Following

    • +33

      longevity

      3 years and 1 day

      • +8

Length of warranty plus 5 minutes.

      • You do realise that the "warranty" advertised by retailers is in addition to the statutory warranty, right? No reasonable person would expect a major appliance like this to last less than 5 years. 7-10 even.

        • +1

Yeah but good luck enforcing your 'rights'. I'm a lawyer and I haven't been able to thus far.

          • +1

@Bdawg: I see why you mention your vocation but consider it minimally relevant

Contact manufacturer, if refuse because warranty is over, contact consumer body, consumer body will arrange a dispute resolution, manufacturer usually will comply at this stage rather than partake in said dispute resolution

          • +1

@Bdawg: I'm not a lawyer, and I have managed to enforce my rights on..
            - Car past warranty
            - TV past warranty
            - Power tools past warranty
            - Heater past warranty
            - Shoes past warranty

            • @Agent Q: How did you do it? Whenever I have mentioned the Australian Consumer Law retailers don't seem to give a flying warranty.

    • We are using the 7kg SHPD7/EHPD7 for more than 2 years now. Running like new until now.

      • until now….what happened?

        • :-) Nothing. "Running like new…"

    • +1

I bought the Esatto Heat Pump dryer from Appliances Online and it lasted just over 2 years despite not being a heavy dryer user. But no appliance repair tradies want to service Esatto where I live on the Gold Coast. So I can't even pay to get it fixed. Have been battling both Appliance Online and the distributer Residentia for MONTHS. They are both extremely unhelpful if their crappy, cheap imports fail. They say it is out of warranty so too bad, so sad. I expected more from Appliances Online. I have certainly learnt a lesson.

      • +4

I had the same problem with Esatto and AO.

Ended up just filling a consumer guarantee claim against AO in NCAT and residentia suddenly approved a full refund.

  • Who's going to line up hours before opening for these heavy weights?

    • +3

Lining up is the easy part. There’s usually only few of these per store.
Once they open the door it’s a free for all, and how fast can you run with a wheelie thing.

      • +8

        The scenario:

Damn, grabbed the dryer but someone got the washing machine already.

        • 1 PP haha ur comment made me do funny

  • +3

Silly question, but how do people get this home? I can move 52kg of weights around, but not when it's in the shape of a dryer in a box.

    • +31

      They use a vehicle

      • +2

But from the store floor to the vehicle/s, I'd suggest a trolley… Bring a trolley or two lining up I guess. Strongly considering these as I'm in the market, seem very reasonably priced to me.

        • +1

ALDI has a flatbed trolley for larger items.
Had to ask for it from staff when I got a large item.

          • +1

@Pr0XyD: Thanks. The 'bring a trolley' in the ad for some reason made me think I'd need to go out to bunnings and buy a trolley. Hopefully whatever the store can provide can be taken into the carpark and that'll be enough.

            • @merivetio: A sack trolley is always a useful thing to have anyway, like when you get it home and want to move it into the house. I use mine quite often.

      • +3

Dang, was thinking I'd have to farmer's walk the dryer for the several km walk back home. Saved

  • +3

Do you go straight to the register or find the dryer and haul it to the front, or is there some other system?

    • +2

Find item, take it to register, pay for it, take home.
      Simples..

Okay serious note, yes you do have to take it through the register. I wasn't allowed to use their loading bay no matter how much easier it makes the whole process.

    • +6

Don't wait for trolley, 1st grab the Dryer otherwise it will be gone in 60 sec :)
need at least two ppl , one to run and garb and 2nd one to go and get the trolley once you have successfully grab the dryer.
also it will help to load in the car , I suggest SUV / UTE / Trailer

      • +20

Also make sure u push over every man women and child in the way to get the sweet sweet savings.

      • Bring a movers trolley that’s what I did. Made it much easier.

  • How to pick them from the store? Do they need Trolley and Ute hire.

    • Need a friend or 2. Hire a van, itll have a lower loading height than the ute. Ramp and trolley.

      • Thanks

      • +6

Hire a van, miss out on item, lose $50. I think I'll go hang out at an Aldi that morning just to watch the chaos

        • +2

You can use the van to offer delivery service on spot. I think many people will happy to pay $50 for delivery.

  • +2

Don't forget the rebate for SA people.

    yess.net.au

    • How does this work any guide Thanks

      • Top bar has a link.

Complete the details and it will indicate how much you should get back.

Then submit the form and wait.

I havent been contacted yet though for my application.

However the website is legit, as I found references to it in SA Government websites.

    • +5

      https://yess.net.au/our-services/appliance-rebate/check-by-b…

really? $355 rebate on this dryer model?

      • +2

It's based on size and energy efficiency not on how much you paid for it so yeah that could be right. I got $400 is back for a Hisense Heat Pump dryer last year, ended up costing me $450 ish out of pocket for a Dryer that was on the floor for $1150 ($250 gift card rebate on the spot plus the YESS rebate).

  • Is this expensive to run ?

      • The energy consumption/year was higher than the washing machine, but I thought dryers would be less energy efficient.

Is that a 7 out of 10 energy rating? Always thought the ratings were out of 5 or 6 (forgot which).

    • +3

Heat pump dryer consume around 30%-50% energy vs vented dryer. Eg, heat pump $0.70-$0.90 per circle, vented dryer $1.80-$2.20 per circle (at $0.30/kwh).
Save around $0.80 by wind dry compare to heat pump everytime.
Save around $1.20 by heat pump compre to vented dryer everytime.

      • +1

Yeah but they take forever to dry anything don't they..?

        • I used a clothes horse from Kmart. Takes a while to dry but cost nothing to run.

        • +1

My Beko heat pump dryer take around 1hr and 20-30mins/circle using cotton cupboard extra dry. 2 of my old vented dryer take around 1hr. This the only heat pump dryer i own, can't speak for other brand or model.
I will never go back to vented dryer, the main reason is that vented dryer humid my house and dirty my laundry, energy saving is just another big bonus. Condenser dryer is quite expensive as well, I will just pay a bit more for heat pump?

  • +2

I can't find reviews on the dryer, but the Front loader washing machine (possibly the previous model, but has same model number) has a 2 star rating.

  • +4

    Heat pump dryers are brilliant

  • +6

What's all this talk of bringing trolleys and multiple people to buy a God damn washing machine.

Sounds like a horrible experience. But could be entertaining to watch no doubt. Jerry Springer entertaining.

    • -2

yeah i just order online from other retailers, and watch the fools at Aldi clambering for so called "savings".

      • +4

Show me the so called "savings" from the online retailers.
        POV - You can't

    • +3

It is an interesting sight to behold. Its like organised chaos but with virtually no sound, no screaming or yelling just the sound of pitter pattering shoes as people run down the isle to nab one. It is a bit of a system and you have to divide and conquer to have success.

    • +2

      Aldi: MMA edition

  • Does all Aldi store will have this stock or just selected store?

    • The best answer is the one you can get from an employee at your local Aldi

  • +1

Silly question - if I only have 5kg of washing on average, is it more efficient (water & energy) to get a smaller capacity washing machine or will this 10kg washing machine be to adjust it’s energy and water consumption accordingly?

Context is a smaller machine from JBHIFI still costs more than this.

    • it can adjust

  • Looks like it could be a clone of this machine but in an 8kg version?
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/solt-7kg-heat-pump-dryer-ggsh…

    • Solt is rebranded Esatto, the ALDI one too.

      • they are all Midea appliances

  • For those who own any brand heat pump dryer, do you empty the water tank or do you have a hose connected to dump water?

    • my beko heat pump have hose provided which can connected to dump water, but i didn't connect the hose so i empty water tank every 2 circle.

      • +1

My question is can I put this in another room and not just the laundry room. I have space in a lounge area but it is carpeted but I can run a hose out the window but the window will be higher than the dryer.

Other option is to run it in an empty shower near the washing machine and it will just drain off there into the unused shower.

Yeah my main question is it safe to use on carpet floors.

        • Imo, I would just empty the container for carpets, but from memory reading the instructions for my Beko, the hose can't be too high

          • @ntebis: Ah damn so looks like I have to find a floor drain to drain it out.

And can't run the hose above the dryer got it.

            • @AlienC:

Ah damn so looks like I have to find a floor drain to drain it out.

Another alternative is to put a bucket and then drain it there.
Not pretty but might work. A similar, but better looking container will do too.

              • @LFO: That works kinda but now you just gotta empty the drip tray every now and then because if you don't you are back to square one.

It's just a time delay solution lol haha.

        • +1

It gets bit humid around the dryer. So, I am not sure it is a good idea to put it in the lounge room or living room. Maybe you can test it one time by putting it in the lounge room and using the water tank.

          • @Sub: Oh if it creates a lot of humidity then yeah I can see the carpet getting mould and what not so waterproof surfaces and flooring only.

        • I will just empty the tank manually if you put it on carpet. My washer is 1200rpm, drying 7kg cloth will fill the water tank to around 40%.

          • @stevelo: Knowing me I would probably forget or be too tired and come back to water overflowing everywhere so then that counts out carpet and puts it to only waterproof surfaces and flooring so maybe one of the unused showers downstairs will make a good fit just gotta put a sign not to take a shower with the dryer lol

            • @AlienC: I don’t think it’s a good idea put dryer on carpet. But also my Beko heat pump dryer will stop automatically if the water tank is full, I have to empty the water before it can be start again. I don’t know if other heat pump dryer will do the same though.

              • @stevelo: Oh that's good. What model or name is your heat pump dryer and would you recommend it or choose another dryer if you could change your mind and get another right now.

Yeah that's a really good feature on the auto stop function when the water tank is full.

Why do you think it is not a good idea to run a dryer on carpet is it because of the water spill potential or fire hazard or stability or other important reason?
