Its my first time posting so if I have done anything wrong please say so.

    • +5

No you haven't done anything wrong. In fact you did better than my first post which was resoundingly reported lol.

Thank you OP! I just wish there is an AIO version of this.

    • +18

Good job. Nuh you haven't done anything wrong, Nvidia has.

    • Well done xoxoxox

    • +2

You are doing fine. If there is this idiot named Jimmy whinging about GPU price again in this deal, just ignore him.

    • +2

You didn’t write the lame, overused cliche line of “It’s my first post, please be gentle” so you get a 10/10 just for that

    • My first post was just an affiliate link to Crazy Domains standard plans.

My subsequent roasting was, unequivocally, warranted.

Young and stupid. Now I'm just stupid. ;)

  • +1

Does this one come with a free PSU like the EVGA one ?

    Just curious lol

    • +6

They should just include one so you can use it to run the card.. And use the one you have to run your pc 😂. Double psu cases will be a thing with next gen cards… Lol

      • +11

Looking at the direction those cards are heading, I'd say the next gen flagship cards probably plug into the wall directly.

        • And then proceed to flip your breaker. XD

        • +1

In 10 years we will need a dyson sphere to power cards

  • -1

Alternatively there is a Gigabyte 3090TI at the same price
    https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-ga…

    • +1

Asus is a better brand, better thermals and power delivery and generally less RMAs

    • is Zotac cooling particularly good?

Kinda concerns me in getting these high end cards that can just run anything I throw at it, only for it to constantly run at 90-100degC under full load.

    • +6

Not the same card. Would take ASUS over Zotac any day, especially for only $10 more…

  • If you have the budget, why not get two 3080's at 17,408 cudas cores vs 3090 ti 10,752 cudas?

    • probably for those that have itx cases

    • +11

      wait sli still a thing?

      • +5

I also thought SLI and crossfire stopped support of all cards since 2018

      • +2

If you need the Cuda's for rendering, they dont need to be in SLI mode.

        • +3

ye you are right but very limited use case.

          • +2

@kekw: I mean… we are talking about the 3090 TI here. Very limited use case comes with the territory lol.

I'd imagine a lot of people who buy these do so for rendering or ML and similar workloads.

            • @snep: Yep a Blender render beast.

      • +3

The 3080 doesn't even have the SLI bridge connector anymore.
This 3090 Ti does though so you could in theory put two of these in SLI.
You'd be crazy to so of course. Pretty much no new games support it and you for games that do, you will get frame time issues inherit to multi-GPU setups
Also it would be like having a heater on with the GPUs under load pulling almost 1kW

    • +3

If you have the budget, why not get two 3090 Ti's?

    • no SLI support for 3080s

  • +20

for this sort of money you can build an entire system based on a 3080 or 6900xt

    • +5

Yep. I just built a 5900X/6900XT system for less than $2.5k.

3090ti compared to a 6900XT costs 150% more for 35% improvement is not worth it.

      • If there's any stock, you'll be able to sell the 6900xt and buy a 4080 in a few months anyway (not that I'd recommend it, unless you're really into ray tracing, probably worth waiting a couple of gens) and be a lot better off in terms of speed and hit to the pocket.

As much as I'd like to turn on full graphics at 4K in CP2077, spending 5 minutes to find the best bang for buck settings online wasn't a big compromise. Still looks amazing without having to shell out $2500.

I think I've done pretty well on gradual upgrades though, sold my 2060S and bought a 3060ti and was out of pocket $200. Sold the 3060ti and bought a 3080 and was out of pocket another $400. If I can get a 4080 and only be out of pocket another $3-400 I'll do it again, but somehow I doubt it this time.

        • I've been doing it for over a decade now. It's the best way of keeping upgrades cheaper. Only downside is if my current GPU has issues, I don't have a spare because I sold the previous one.

It worries me a little. But I can't be having a GPU just sitting on the shelf "just in case" when their resale value is so good.

      • -2

3600x/6700XT system for less then 1.25k
6900XT costs 150% more for 35% improvement is not worth it

Therefore just because its not worth it for you does not mean its not worth it for someone who has more money than you.

        • +3

          Can you even math bro?

          Lowest price for a 6900XT recently was $999. Lowest price for a entry 6700XT model was $599. That's a 67% price increase. A 6900XT benches about 62% better than a 6700XT.

          • @mandelbrot: no one cares about a few percentage points. point remains, if your too poor 'bro' for extra frame rates doesn't mean it isn't worth it 'bro.'

            • @retaxis: You can't even do simple primary school maths to do a $/frame comparison

    • Yeah unless you're looking for the absolute max performance with no budgetary limitations, a 3080 is probably the craziest card most people will need, a 3080ti if there's really a necessity, the 3090's are definitely more for professional use, but Nvidia aren't going to deny cash happy gamers from throwing cash at them.

  • +4

    umart have a Gigabyte Geforce Gaming 3090ti for $2399 - https://www.umart.com.au/product/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3090-t…

    • +1

      Nope anything GB is cursed.

  • +7

Wow! As much as I'd love a current 3000 series Nvidia card for it's superior RT capabilities, this is about over double the price of the 2nd best card available - the 6900xt

And honestly, there's not enough RT content out there to make that kind of markup worth it imo

    • +1

More than double. Bought 6900xt TUF a few weeks back for $1150, then went as low as 999 for a few days.
      Excellent card.

  • Hopefully price keeps crashing down as Crypto mining's losing its allure.

  • +3

not much point in buying this in an inflated market, a normal market, or especially in a market where superior cheaper cards arent too far away at this point

  • +1

the 4000 series cards are coming out this year.

    • +2

and? then everyone will be pissing and moaning about supply and price.

      • I won't me I am just saying if people wait they will get a next gen card, instead of a year old one.

    • Wow! You must be clairvoyant or something!! Quick, what other widely known things are coming out in 2022!???

  • +4

A deal is a deal, but almost nobody needs this.

    • -1

Most things people buy are not things they need

  • +1

Will this work with my Intel Core2 Duo machine?

    • +1

Yes, but I hazard to guess the CPU might be a bottleneck …

    • AGP slot?

      • +1

        VL Bus was amazing.

        • A real step up from ISA

          • @2024: that definitely beat the Dick Smith Cartridge slots for RAM upgrade, a whole 16kb set me back AUD $300 !!!! in the 80's

  • Oh RTX 4080 at a bargain you can get today

  • Guys and girls, is it worth it to upgrade from a 3070 to a 3090 ti? I'm running 3440 x 1440 144hz resolution. Or should I wait?

    • +4

      HODL for 4080 IMO

  • +5

I just got number 45 in the world on TimeSpy single GPU with a Sapphire 6900XT Extreme edition clocked at 2850mhz. The OC headroom on AMD is ridiculous.

  • +2

I'm getting scared of 4090 prices

    • +7

      approx 15 lettuces

      • New bitcoin

      • why spend lettuce when you can earn yield, just borrow against it if you need cash

  • it looks like price down

    not a deal

  • 30% more heat and energy

    10% more fps

  • Very depressed I bought a 3080ti at the same price last year, plus feight and surcharge…

    • +8

You got to use it for a year that's a win, no?

      • in terms of graphics card obsolescence as a decent card, that's at least a quarter of its life so yes good point

  • I'd recommended going for this.

    https://www.pcbyte.com.au/p/sapphire-amd-rx-6900-xt-toxic-li…

I had a MSI Suprim X 3090 I bought for 3300. I sold it for 3000. I had a Colourful Vulcan OC 3080 I bought for 1500 and sold for 2100. I also had a Gigabyte Gaming OC I sold for 1200 that I bought for 1400. Sticking with my Toxic Extreme 6900xt that I picked up for $1500.

Incredible FHR card. A real gem. Sometimes I weep at the LHR stock ruining this great land.

    • -1

as though LHR matters any more anyway

      • Exactly. Remove the restrictions and let's enjoy the alt summer!

        • -1

          Don't care.

        • -1

people did, where have you been?

          • @Zorlin: It's a shame people have to be forced to hack apart their own beloved treasures just to get some real performance from them.

            • -1

@LuCJ: real performance… doing something they were never designed to do.

              ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

              • @Zorlin: They're designed to be hardware that the fans can run at tremendous levels. With these fettered devices what can a person do?

  • Only an idiot would take this deal though.

The 4080 is likely to smash this GPU by a good 40 percent, just on it's node jump alone

We are just a few months from the new GPU being released (rumoured sept, oct)

  • Who on earth is paying that for a graphics card? Absolutely nuts.

  • Tiny Improvement rides again

  • -1

Time to buy…. the new RTX 40s will cost at least 50% more and draw much more power.

AMD has the worst drivers and compatibility still, go for Nvidia

  • good deal, bad value (just get a 3080)
