10000/20000 Flybuys Points or $50/$100 off Next Shop after Targeted Amount Spend in 1 Transaction Each Week for 4 Weeks @ Coles

1580

New flybuys offer is out. Just the regular offer that comes out every 6-7 weeks.

Same scenario as previous deals. Activation required.

Spend $50 in one transaction in-store or online at Coles each week for 4 weeks.

In my case the weekly spend is $50 for 10,000 points. Others will have varying spend and points amounts dependent on spend history.

Week 1 of 4 is 10 days long, from Friday 8 July 2022 to Sunday 17 July 2022.

Further terms and conditions are available when you activate the offer.

  • 20k for $170 * 4

    • same here.
$120 would be easy but $170 will have to stock up lol

      • +2

Third 20k offer in a row
Off to Woolworths til it drops back to $50*4

        • How long does it take?
I usually go to Aldi when there’s no offer, their fruits and veggies are fresher.

          • +1

@mrgeckoz: Usually a month or so
Don't usually let it get that high, but was too tempting to stack multiple offers over the four weeks

  • +2

Collect 10k instore + 4k online order place

    • Same, but asking $110 spend, extra 7500pts if $40 spend on baby range for 4wks

    • Same on 2 accounts and just the 10k on 1.

  • 10k for $110x4 weeks
    .

    • +8

Same for me. I haven't used one fo these offers for a while as they have all been over $100/week for the last few. As a single person I just can't spend that much lol. Even stocking up on non perishables like laundry powder and dishwasher tabs isn't enough to get close to $110/week.

  • Thanks for the heads up OP

  • Thanks op. One account had this $50 offer (accepted) the other had the 10k + 4 instore when spending $130 each week for 4 weeks (hidden)

  • 10k for 4x $90. No chance. Barely spend $50 a fortnight at Coles.

    • +3

Stock up for Winter and high inflation cost?

      • +3

        Go broke saving money, lol.

I mostly shop at Aldi. I am lucky that I have an Aldi and a Coles 200m away so I just cherry pick from Coles for certain things and the odd 1/2 price specials.

        • WINNER WINNER — Aldi dinner 🤙🏼

  • +5

    Nice $50 spend again

    • Yeah same for me. Last time was also $50 :)

      • +1

$50bux/ week is a struggle to spend in coles.. if im only looking for bargains

        • +2

We split our shopping at Coles and Woolworths. When we get this 10,000 bonus points offer and the min spend is reasonably low then we do most of our weekly shopping at Coles. Then we just get a handful of stuff from Woolworths.

  • +4

    $50x4 for 10k not bad

    • +3

Yes. Quite reasonable. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've had the same offer. In the past, they would increase the spend amount each time. I didn't participate in the higher ones and then eventually it would come back down again.

      • Yeah this is how it's gone for me too.

  • Mine hasn’t come through.. how weird

    • +2

If not yet, no offer on that card.

      • Dang nabbit, I’m a big spender, they’ve shafted me haha

        • +1

I mean not showing in the App or online account.

  • +1

Much much better than woolies !

    • -1

I get much better offers from Woolies but dont shop there very often. Have a Coles and Aldi 200m away.

I have had a series of 6k points for $30, $40 and $50 over 3 weeks from Woolies.

    • I barely get better offers from Woolies, probably bcz I use 10% discounts from Woolies mobile then use discounted e-gift cards which I find it better than most offers anyway.

  • +1

Not targeted because I spent $30 last week for 20% worth of points

    • +2

The amount you need to spend is targeted though.

      • Sometimes it takes a few weeks to be targeted for another offer after using one

        • +1

Gotcha, Sorry I originally read your comment as the deal isn’t a targeted deal…. Not that you weren’t personally targeted.

    • same

    • I got the 1200 for a $30 spend, I did that on Monday.
Today got the 4 x $50 spend for 10k points offer.

      (I always choose points)

  • Mine is 10k for $200x4 spend, whys mine so rubbish.

    • +1

Bring down your average bill amount and you might start getting better offers.

    • +5

Get a second flybuys account and spread the spend.

      • Exactly what I've done. Still waiting though.

    • +1

      username doesn't check out

  • +2

    $60x4 for 10k

  • Thanks OP for heads up. $60 here

  • if im just turning the points in flybuy dollars, am i better with points or dollars? Mine is 10k/$50 for $150pw, 20k/$100 for $200pw. Im guessing points, but arent they worth about the same..?

    • +6

Always go for points, you can convert to flybuys dollars after,
The $$$ off has to be spent in one shop and within 30 days or something similar (been awhile)

      • +1

Totally, also you have to trust them the money is there. Its not listed anywhere. Yes I think its about 39 days too.

    • Depends if you convert points to Velocity later on I guess.

    • +11

In my books, Flybuys points is a much better option, even though their value is pretty much the same.1

      • Flybuys points can be redeemed a number of ways, including Flybuys Dollars (which can be spent at a number of retailers, not just Coles), items sold on the Flybuys Rewards Store, and Velocity Frequent Flyer points. However, the $50 discount can only be redeemed at Coles.

      • You do not need to redeem all 10,000 Flybuys points in one go. However, you can only redeem the full $50 discount in one go; there is no way to redeem a $20 discount in one transaction and then redeem a $30 discount in another transaction (as an example). Coles will also force you to redeem the $50 discount on the first transaction where you spend at least $50.05 in one transaction on eligible items.

      • Flybuys points do not expire (as long as you earn or redeem at least one point in 12 months), but the $50 discount expires 30 days from the date of issue.

      • You will earn Flybuys points on any amount you pay for using Flybuys Dollars, as Flybuys Dollars is merely treated as a payment method. However, if you redeem a discount, you will not earn Flybuys points for the portion paid for with the discount, as the number of points you earn is based on the amount you spend after taking any discounts into account.

      • If you return an item paid for using Flybuys Dollars at Coles, the return amount will be the same as the amount you paid in the transaction (assuming there were no other discounts in the transaction). However, if you return an paid and a $50 discount was redeemed in the original transaction, I think the return amount will be prorated based on the amount you spent out of your own pocket, rather than the item’s face value amount.

Keep in mind that my experience is only for shopping in-store, so I’m not sure how flexible Flybuys points are when redeeming them on Coles Online transactions…

      1. If you use the 2000 Flybuys points = $10 rule of thumb (which is used for Flybuys Dollars or the $10 instant in-store discount for Coles Financial Services customers with attached Flybuys accounts or gift cards on the Flybuys Rewards Store), the value of the points is the same as the value of the discount. However, if you convert your Flybuys points into Velocity points (especially when there is a promotion where you’ll earn bonus Velocity points on a Flybuys-to-Velocity transfer), it is much harder to measure the value of each Flybuys point.

      • +1

Great writeup Wookie. I always choose points and convert them in to dollars at a later date anyway but had never looked in to the straight to dollars option. The biggest surprise to me was that the dollars have such a short expiry. Not really sure why anyone would choose dollars based on the negatives you have posted.

        • +1

Convenience. (Well, it would be more convenient for some people.)

          • It is more convenient to have a discount that is ready to go on your account rather than go through the hoops of redeeming your Flybuys points for either Flybuys Dollars or a gift card from a retailer.1

          • You also don’t need to remember to redeem the discount. It will automatically apply on your next eligible transaction (assuming you’re within the 30 days from the date of issue and are spending enough on eligible items that the discount will be triggered).

          • You also don’t need the physical Flybuys card on you to redeem the discount in the transaction. However, if you converted the points into Flybuys Dollars, you’ll need the physical Flybuys card (with an undamaged magstripe) in order to redeem any Flybuys Dollars (at Coles, anyway). I have never figured out a way to redeem Flybuys Dollars at Coles by only using the Flybuys barcode.

Personally, I value flexibility more than convenience. I actually don’t find it that cumbersome to convert Flybuys points into Flybuys Dollars, plus I don’t remember the last time I spent $50 in one transaction at Coles (other than on gift cards, of course!).

          1. I once had a Coles gift card go missing in the post after I ordered one from the Flybuys Rewards Store. Thankfully, Flybuys were nice enough to cancel the original gift card and send a new one, but I don’t want to go through that ordeal again, which is why I stick to Flybuys Dollars nowadays.

        • The only benefit I can see is that if you only doing online shopping for an extended period you can use the dollars but not flybuy points or GCs.

      • +1

Also, if you have a a coles Mastercard credit card, you can get 10 dollars off(provided you have enough points in your flybuys account) everytime you scan your flybuys.

  • +2

Geez mine is $210x4 for 10k (seems they really reward people that spend more at coles … not)

    • Same deal for me

    • You already spend a lot regardless of the special offer (hope you understand now … not)

    • +1

You really need a second flybuys account to spread out your shops on

      or more

      • +2

Yeah. Make sure everyone in your "family" has a flybuys account 😉
And encourage everyone in your "family" to only swip when reaching your targeted amounts.

        • +2

Also don't spend much over the target amount. Put the rest through on a separate transaction!

        • +3

I don’t even let them have the card, let alone let them near the shops. I do it all :)

  • Nothing on either account, very unusual :(

    • +1

No emails but found 4 x $50 for 10,000 in one account (website).

      • Weird, no emails for me either on 2 accounts but offers were there when logged into both acounts too

      • I check the app every day for new deals. More accurate, I think

  • +1

Maybe someone can shed light for me here - I never seem to have any Flybuys offers in my app any more, at all - especially not these which are actually meaningful since I shop regularly at Coles. Any clues from people who know things?

    • I only see them in the flybuys app not the coles app.
There is a see hidden down the bottom.

      • Yeah duck eggs even there unfortunately - perhaps because I have opted out of emails? Nothing in hidden, I have some survey offers and spotlight offers like discounts with HBF or Harry Potter characters every $30 I spend, but nothing meaningful. Always empty, yet when I first had the app there were offers all of the time.

        • Yeah because you've opted out of marketing and email.

          • @nightelves: Yeah I must have cocked something up - looking on my account portal I am still opted in to plenty of comms, but I never get emails. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

            • +1

              @wazman67: :

              "¯\_(ツ)_/¯" → ¯_(ツ)_/¯

              "¯\\_(ツ)_/¯" → ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • +1

since I shop regularly at Coles

They don't need to incentivise your spend.
      Maybe get a second card.

    • +2

Out of 17 accounts I have, one of mine ended up in this predicament. No amount of (re)subscribing to emails or marketing or whatever worked. I don't know why it stopped receiving offers.

You're better off reaching your next 2000 points if you're close and just starting a new account than trying to figure it out.

      • Appreciate it!

  • +5

Thanks for the heads up OP, 4x $50 for 10k points here. Sometimes if you're lucky, they send you another offer like spend $xx and get 2k points which you can stack with the 10k points offer.

    • A few times I had OOS items on the first-week shop so then received those weekly offers almost every week while doing the 4-week offer because their system did not think I was.

  • +1

10K for the $50 spend for 4 weeks.

Once again proves that buying the Mastercard deals and scanning for Flybuys does NOT affect later deals.

Those claiming it does are simply wrong.

    • Not really, if you rarely shop at coles it won't much increase, but if you are a regular shopper it does affect your coles challenge offer level for a few weeks, and then it will back to normal if NO flybuys scanning during that period.

      • +1

I buy at least 10 $250 cards every time promotion comes on, scan each time , I have 90K flyby pts atm and a regular customer and still get the 4 times $50 offer each time it comes up.
Just passing on facts and everyone can ignore the flyby points if they wish.

        • Also received an $80 for 2000 points offer which can be stacked.

So much for the poor offers because of scanning for Flybuys ?

          • @IanC: Another 2000 POINTS for $80 this week received which can be stacked …getting close to 30%,

            • +1

@IanC: Still in week one if you have shopped already.

              • @Neoika: yes thanks already shopped the $80 offer this week

    • +1

It use to count and offers were affected, but since earlier this year it doesn’t seem to count anymore,

      • Good news for us

  • +1

Got $50x4 for 10k…too bad I'm going to be traveling awww

  • 150$ X4

  • 10K for $50 X 4

  • +4

Wait until at least next Tuesday to start this for the piggyback offer

    • +1

Or wait until next Friday to double up on the offer starting Saturday.

      • Or tomorrow.

      • Ah yes. The glitch thar doesn't get discussed very often.

        • +2

So let’s not propogate further then. Noting, I waited for a second $30 /1200pt offer last week and it never came :(

          • @Coops1: Me too on 2 accounts

          • @Coops1: I think no one received offer on the 5th.

            • @Neoika: I wanted my 40%. Unfair, and very unsettling and upsetting.

              • @Coops1: $30 spend offer is up again so that it is worth expecting sth on Tue.

                • @Neoika: Yes I have this today. Is it better to spend $50 by Tuesday and double dip? Or wait for a better offer later next week?

                • +2

@Neoika: Gotta love a Tuesday (or Friday) that keeps on giving. I can shop now :). I have been worried though!
