Viki Pass Standard 1 Month Free (Normally US$4.99/A$6.49, Works After 1 Week Free Trial, Credit Card Required) @ Rakuten Viki

180
VIKIFREE

Rakuten Viki is a streaming service for TV/Movies from Korea, Japan and China. They have quite a lot of popular Korean dramas that are not on Netflix, such as Sh**ting stars, The Red Sleeve, Mr Queen, Mouse, Goblin etc. Many K drama watchers agree that the subtitles on Viki are better/closer to the original language as they take the cultural context into account. (Let's keep the 'Oppa' references, please)

There is always a free one week trial for new users but this code worked on my account that has already had a free trial. You will need to claim it via a browser, as the app does not let you enter a coupon code. You do need to enter a valid credit card to sign up even though first month is free, just remember to cancel. No idea how long the code is valid for, just found it on a coupon site.

Without a pass, you can still watch some of the older TV dramas in SD for free but the amount of ads is very intrusive. Standard pass gives you HD and no ads.

If you are an existing subscriber and want to take up this offer, it looks like you have to cancel your current subscription and wait until the end of your billing cycle and redeem the code when you restart the subscription

Note: If you want to continue your subscription after the free month, one way to pay is with Google Play credits via the Viki app - handy if you have any spare credit earned via the Google Rewards app.

Is there a VPN trick for this streaming service? Much like Disney+ or YouTube Premium?

    • as a person who has been subbed to viki for a year and attempted, i havnt found a way. I dont believe they have region pricing, just the U.S amount.

  • Viki is good value, but the library of Asian drama is small compared with Netflix, (It has a few series you can't find on netflix). All shows have optional subtitles. You might find the app is not especially good to navigate, depending your TV / settop box.

    • I think it’s the other way around. However i use vpn to the US and watch chinese korean and a little bit of japanese.
