Hmmm. This or the 77" A80J?

    • +2

      lol

    • +16

Get 4 of these instead and immerse yourself in surround… picture?

      • 4 self lit TV's

    • +31

If I get up on tonight’s multis it will be 77" A80J.

Narrator: he did not get up on any multis over night

      • +10

The only multis I've gotten are multi-losses

        • +7

Remember the golden rule: ALWAYS chase your losses.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Well. I usually start with one loss.

            • @NoApostrophePlurals: I like to give myself a rush by usually picking obvious/easy legs to start then gradually getting adding more outlandish legs as I go hahaah

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I had a mate dare me to pick the winner of the entire UFC card. Made it all the way to half way through the main event before the multi fell over. I was thinking about the TV (and the rest) I was going to buy with the winnings!

75's are now cheaper than a 65! That being said, I still watch mostly free to air and a 75 looks horrible.

    • +1

I was considering a $400 projector for my garage gym… but this might be the go instead. Just need to get another chrome cast or maybe another Amazon stick

    • +3

There is a limit to how close you can sit with certain content on a large display. I never used to think there was such a thing as a screen that was too big but there definitely is.

    • Free to air looks pretty decent on Sony 75X900h with Sony’s amazing upscaling at 2.5-3m distance.

      • Yeah the upscaling is the key. The cheaper TVs often have this bit left out, or poorly implemented.
So a full 4k image may look just as good on a cheapie, but watching FTA can be a nasty mess.

    • What if you used the streaming version of the FTA channel?

      • lol How bad do you want it to look?

    • Yeah you need the broadcast HD as the minimum quality on anything at or over 42"

    • +1

Luckily I bought a 65" Chic with a 5 year warranty in January
Man, that thing was heavy to lift up to around head height to hang it on the wall mount by myself

  • +2

Get a VHS player with good upscaling

    • Great VHS is still better than some YouTube 4K.

      https://youtu.be/fT4lDU-QLUY

Master Betacam (not betamax) footage is even better.

      • Definitely a pre-covid era 😅

    • +3

I’m just watching OG mighty morphin power rangers and beast wars anyway

      • +2

        +1 for beast wars!

  • +2

At this point in time its worth buying one for shits and giggles.

    • +3

I thought is was Giggle and Hoot?

    • +1

The dream: grab it on clearance for $500

      • Don't forget the cash rewards !!

        • Low key hoping for zip to do another upsized cashback promo (I’d definitely jump on the buy button)

  • +1

    Ordered one. TOTAL paid $685
    Subtotal $626.00
    Shipping $59.00
    Discounts -$10.00

    • Wow $59 only? (Essentially $49) - great bargain.
Even if you have a Ute it’s not worth the effort (and definitely not a one man job)

      • +1

Yeah, cheap agree. But I already got 3 TV's. I got no room for it :-) wife said that I always make home messy :(

        • +1

wife said that I always make home messy :(

I know the feel! Just tell her it was an emergency!

      • Packaged Height (mm) 1118
        Packaged Width (mm) 1818
        Packaged Weight (kg) 32.7

A medium-sized hatchback / wagon / SUV should cope. Don't need a ute. Its not like the old plasmas, can travel flat if needed.

    MacGruber would approve

This is amazing, why are they slashing the prices so violently? It’s like a disturbing horror film where JB Hi-Fi is running round an old industrial building and me and all the other prices are running around attempting to flee when JB just goes and slashes them all horrifyingly

    • Well one - the reviews vary wildly

Two - they prob got a super sick deal on them but didn’t burn through them like they thought they would

Also boggles the mind they try and flog off crap deals on their jb perks subscribers … but then treat this like an everyday-er…

Just hope the people that got it last week paid with 28 degrees price protection enabled cards..

    • +8

Maybe they are worried that people are going to run out of money now that we are paying 20 bucks for a lettuce.

      • +3

I guess with the interest rate rise they’re trying to anticipate people with less disposable fun money

      • …hmmm…. this or 32 lettuces?

      • Never get this. An Iceberg is $6-$7, but Cos lettuce is still 2 for $2. Same for Brocolli etc, the frozen price is the same as it always has been.
Same as the toilet paper and flour "shortage". Coles and Woolies had none, but Aldi always had full shelves.
        People just need to adapt.

        • Supplier contracts for frozen goods would be locked in for some time. Wait 3 months and see if you can still get frozen broccoli for $5/kg

          • @greatlamp: That's fine. At the end of winter, fresh broccoli will be $4/ kg again.

            • @tunzafun001: So you don't believe the current inflation in food prices will remain? several countries have recently shifted into the brink of economic collapse (or in Sri Lanka's case - free-fall), but you still believe inflation is only occurring because backpackers aren't coming over to pick vegetables?

I want to hope you are right.

              • +1

@greatlamp: Nah, inflation is here to stay..and with the latest covid strain the govt are talking about firing the printer up again ..so more likely to accelerate.
But, the lettuce situation is flood related, not inflation. To put in perspective, Cos lettuce @ 10% inflation will go up 20c…Floods will probably see massive yields of rice and watermelon, and that will probably drop 20c. Just need to pivot.

But if you are selling TVs..well good luck with that. Inflation up, price down.

P.S. heat wave in Europe means more moisture in the air..La Nina pattern..means another very likely flood event coming in the Aussie wet season. But we all love to give our Aircons a flogging..leave em on at work and go home, jump on a flight, get a TV bigger than the sun… "But why are these floods happening"..

                • @tunzafun001: I think our weather is more complicated than that, we aren't getting our rainfall from Europe. But I get your point. I'm in the "Climate change is real but it's already too late" boat.

                  • @greatlamp: For sure..but hotter temps means increased evap everywhere.. and will come down somewhere eventually.
Not too late to change..but unfortunately it is too late for us to learn.
Wowza…we got here from a Chinese TV.

  • Anyone has this? Can it play x265?

    • Don't suppose you got an answer to this? Tried a movie on USB in store?

  • +2

What's the ads like on this TV? Better or worse than a Samsung?

    • -1

      Yes

    • +2

Aim Down Sights is the same
But this one holds the bluetack better

  • Not me being tempted to get a third one for the house (in addition to a 65er). Definitely not me doing that.

    • +3

Do it mate - what if the deal gets ozbargained?

      • FOMO resistant.

    • Just do it

  • +1

Anyone has this would like to know how this TV is before i purchase it compared to the ALDI Bauhn or Hisense 75 inch ?

  • got one through delivery, no pickup

    • Genuinely curious as to your game plan on getting it home? Do you have a truck or…

    • Please, can you provide feedback on the picture and picture motion quality.

      • just got delivered today, good thing, we can choose delivery day, when i get home, i will see.

  • This brand or Hisense U7G? Blaupunkt has Google Play Store which can be its strength over Hisense.

    • I’m really happy with my hisense 65p7 (2019) but recent feedback on hisense looks like they’ve REALLY gone down hill…

      • Still among the best value for money though.

      • Me too mate. No frills like bluetooth, crappy UI and no Dolby vision, but it's a great tv. HDR10 is perfectly adequate for Netflix etc. Mine is connected to a Telstra tv and it never misses a beat.

I want to upgrade to a 75 but I find it hard when my 65p7 is still going and looking great.

        • I'll never go above a 65. Just chewing up more energy for not much gain (or losing quality for the lower def channels).

      • +1

I got a 50 inch hisense. Cost a third of a Samsung 7 series I bought my dad at same time. Price has its own virtue of course, but over time less and less happy with it, i envy my fathers TV, and next time I will spend the money.

Knock off $10 with JB Perks and a further $20~ off buying a $685 gift card through Macquarie with 3% discount. Thanks OP been looking for a cheap 75" TV.

  • +4

Similar price plummet for Hitachi 75" QLED last year this time. It is worth waiting till mid July (not EOFY) for JB. I would not be surprised by a further 5% off/free delivery applied later if the stock does not get cleared by then.

    • QLED is a nice jump up over LED, red blues and greens pop with the fluro color effect

      • Big W do this generic Tv in QLED.

    • I don't think that model is available anymore

      • +2

I am talking about the timing of hunting a real JB bargain. The pattern has been copied.

    • This is 20% less than that deal & there is nothing even close to this price in the market so I suspect they will sellout at this price (and if not the 20% off sale finishes tomorrow anyway).

    • Any deals on similar generic QLED?

      • Big W ECKO do a QLED. Screen is quite glossy and viewing from a side angle is quite poor.

Just how crap is this TV?

Can I replace a 2015 Sony Android TV and not regret it?

    • not crap at all

    • +2

      You will regret it.

    • +1

      Exactly what I was wondering.

  • $795 isn’t the RRP. If I used this JB catalogue a few wks ago, it was advertised as a sale at $795 with RRP $1295
    https://catalogue.jbhifi.com.au/2022/06/09-jun-cat/15/index.…

It was posted here but I went and used the incorrect deal tag on the last year model

    • Yeah I couldn’t find any current source saying 1295 - it’s not in jb site anymore just says ticket price 795. It was 1295 rrp last week though

      • +1

I realised when JB do additional discounts, it would show what was the previous discounted price and they would slashed that price tag instead of showing the normal RRP
