  • any tips to get $20 voucher to apply correctly - mine not working in checkout

    • I went in store and voucher was accepted fine, was prepared to buy $2.49 pack of lollies if I was asked to make it over the $100 but wasn't needed :)
Buy a packet of hooks for $1.99 or De-greaser for $2.79

  • can you stack egiftcard discount with this

  • Are these waterproof too?
Bought a uniqlo jacket that was windproof but was useless when it rained.

    • features a PFC-free water repellent finish to protect against moisture

    • A bit but then the down gets wet and you have to let it dry.

    • No. Anything but a light drizzle is bad news.

    • +2

      Not waterproof.

  • +2

    CLUB20OFF is the code.

    • Didn't work - buying $200+

      • purchase over $100

        • +21

Yes $200 is more than $100

      • +1

Think you have to join with a new email as it links to that, so the code by itself may not work as you have to log-in for the voucher to work and in-store you have to give the email you used to collect the $20

        • +1

That was it! Worked once I'd logged in to the site. Thankyou.

Bought 3. I had literally just come home from Rebel where we tried them on for size (same price). Now we are all set with jackets for Europe this December.

          • @sheikyerbouti: Haha yea the deal did say for new members so presumably they track by your login.

  • -1

Nice. In case anyone is interested I have compared and Kathmandu are slightly better quality.

    • +1

Which one, Heli? In what way better quality?

      • +1

No way is Katmandu close in terms of warmth…

      • -2

Like I said only slightly better quality. Quality of stitching, outer shell material, lining. This assumes fill of equivalent grade, who knows. Not sure how anyone can say one brand is warmer than another when there are different grades.

        • -2

Based on the feedback of a million Melbournians who invariably rate the Macpac as the king of the puffer jackets in cooler cilmes…

  • Anyone know how this compares to the decathlon deal the other day?

  • 3.5% off at CR too

  • coupon code CLUB20OFF

  • +2

I will pair this with me TSLA wind proof pants for bike riding

    • Exactly what I have :)

    • +3

      Tesla make pants now?

    • +1

Where are you riding that's so cold you need this jacket and windproof pants? Genuinely curious!

      • +1

Not OP but cycling to work in canberra at minus 5 requires windproof pants. Although a down jacket is a bit OTT, I think you would get too warm. Shell jacket plus long sleeve merino top is better.

Plus gloves and beanie and perhaps balaclava and windproof shoes

      • I don't get why these are so popular either, most of us don't live in Canberra or Jyndabyne

  • Score! One for me and one for the wife.

  • +4

These definitely run large. I usually wear Small or Medium, recently purchased a XS from Macpac and fits perfectly. Sizes are quite similar to the Patagonia TorrentShell 3L.
For the price, can't complain and have been quite happy with my purchase. Much warmer than the Uniqlo and has been my daily go to lately with the cold weather.

    • Yep agree I guess they allow for a few layers underneath. I wear small with a t-shirt when I’d normally be somewhere between medium and large.

    • Cant see xs there.

      • BCF doesn’t sell XS unfortunately, you’ll need to shop from Macpac

        https://www.macpac.com.au/macpac-mens-halo-down-jacket-♺/119143.html?cgid=halo-jackets#offers=&start=2

I believe this is the v1 (someone may be able to verify)

        https://www.macpac.com.au/macpac-mens-halo-down-jacket/11297…

Same for Patagonia, no other shop besides Patagonia stock XS, hence I always miss out on bargains :(

  • How do you use the new user promo if you're purchasing in-store?

    • +1

Print out the voucher & give your email at the checkout, they will look it up.

  • Needing something to go across the $100.
    Don’t fish.

    • De-greaser for $2.79?

    • Bic lighter?

Always need one for birthday parties etc.

    • +8

$1 electrical tape under clearance items

      • Thank you! Ordered.

    • When I bought the jacket in a similar deal I bought 3 gang hooks… I'm not a fisherman

  • Thanks OP. Ordered via click and collect. What are they like if you need to exchange for a different size?

    • Not sure but if you are going in-store to pick up, should be fine to try it first then exchange if incorrect. I purchased in-store so got the size correct prior to purchase.

    • They were happy to change on the spot if I need to exchange for a different size

  • +1

thanks OP for sharing! just thinking, Macpac has this for the same price. For new user it's 79.99 + 9.99 + a couple of dollars to make it over 100. For me, it's 92.08 after using the voucher. IMO it might be better of just buying from Macpac directly for 99.99 and free delivery.

    • $80.99 for click and collect.

If it’s close by, worth it.

      • agree, the delivery makes the deal less attractive

      • whats the code? I see $99 in Macpac

  • Just wanna check if this is waterproof/raincoat?

    • I wouldn’t deliberately wear it in the rain. An unexpected shower would be fine though.

    • The jacket that’s both waterproof and contains down is $379.

  • -5

Got an Aldi down jacket for 49.99 cheaper and is hooded

    • +2

Picked these up today and will be returning them for the MacPac

      • -7

Don’t see a point spending another $100 on top. Hooded Halo is $149.99. This $99 is not hooded. Don’t even bother why having a down jacket without a hooded.

        • +1

I got a down jacket with a hood, I hate it. I feel it just blows around in the wind.

      • Why is that?

    • +2

The Aldi is much less warm. I have both; the Aldi is good for sunny days or for short periods; the Halo for cold windy days, nights or longer periods outdoors. If I am watching the kids sports at 830am then I use my Northface.

Yes I have 3 down jackets. Picked up over many years for various reasons. You don’t go to the Harbin ice festival or January in NY in an Aldi down jacket

If you are living on the east coast (not inland) then the Aldi will likely be all that you need. Inland, the Halo is more versatile

Hoods are a waste of money as you don’t use them 90% of the time and they aren’t actually very warm because they are loose. Get a beanie.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I have the hooded one and love it. Just order this as well.

  • +2

    Is this V2 or V1?

  • -1

A 20% discount against loyal customers, wow.

  • Thanks OP, ordered a jacket and a degreaser with C&C.

  • For me, this is the best jacket I’ve ever owned. Still going strong after 5 years and always toasty warm in even the coldest Aussie conditions. Like those situations when it’s 4c outside at a party in winter and you are not even cold due to the macpac…king of down jackets. Compared to everyone around me freezing their a$$ off

    • -3

Nah Aldi wins hands down for the price. Sure pay another $100 more of anything will get you better

      • +1

Yeh the Aldi one is cool if you’re poor.

        • at aldi this weekend ….$49 …..they have navy or olive for mens …..bought one previously and it was great until i ripped it on a sharp object, fixed with tape but looks daggy they are 90% down and 10% feather, not sure of fill weight, bought an olive coloured one today.

          • +1

@garage sale: Not even comparable. I tried them both today. Also one feels cheap and flimsy and is thin. Macpac feels (and looks) higher quality and warmer.

    • +1

Are you also wearing thermal base layer on the lower half of your body?

    • +1

Compared to everyone around me freezing their a$$ off

It covers your ass? Are you really short, or is it a really long jacket?

  • great for winter

    • +1

      Also for summer in Antartica.

  • +1

Anyone had any experience with BCF returns? Their stated policy makes it sound a bit dicey if you wanted to return for a poor fit, but wondering if that's true in practice?

    • +2

Just choose c&c then go to store and try one on. If it's not right just cancel the order and order a new one in store

  • +1

This jacket is an overkill for wearing in Sydney.

    • It's not overkill in my opinion. I frequently wear this with 1 thermal layer underneath and it's just right. I tend to feel colder than most other people, so there's that. YMMV.

    • When it was colder last month, it was perfect.

    • except its not? Been wearing these for like past 4 years now in sydney with a single T-shirt underneath. When i leave the house early in the morning, the colder mornings can be -4c in Greater sydney area.

    • for me the issue is stains ….. i can wash my polar fleece in washing machine but can’t wash puffer jacket, has its place but also practical limitations.
spilt coffee you can wipe off but stuff like butter chicken leaves stains due to the fat content, the joys of alfresco dining in autumn …..

      • but can’t wash puffer jacket

        Why not?

        • the down clumps ….. put it in the wash and see how puffy it is afterwards …. you can dry clean but that’s $$. one of mine said gentle machine wash on care label , wasn’t the same after the washing machine ….luckily these things are cheap now …..

  • No XS ?

  • Got BCF Christmas Camping Gift Wrap 15m for extra $1.

    TY!

  • Coupon code no longer working for first time sign ups

    • You mean everyone…

    • +2

Worked for me.. just add something to bring the total over $100

  • CLUB20OFF not working anymore??
