Mine appears to be buggered on arrival!

Unplugged and replugged both the battery and lcd ribbon and no dice.

I also have installed amberELEC custom firmware on a new Samsung sd card but it doesn't appear to work.

Basically i get a black screen with green dot.

A couple of times I've managed to get it to boot up with stock firmware and sd card but it glitches pretty quickly.

With custom firmware and new sd card it has never booted.

I also noted the yellow light doesn't come up when I want to charge?

I have emailed Hekka and they have asked for the model name and some pictures… Will see what their customer service is like!

I've got black lines appearing in my unit on the screen.

I sent a few videos showing the issue and they asked me to get a quote to get it repaired locally.

Unfortunately no one really wanted to work on it / or the labour costs were expensive with no guarantee.

I emailed them back advising them and they asked me to send the unit back to China.

Fortunately I paid with Paypal and they do offer reimbursing shipping costs depending how much it will cost.

Yep. I gotta say I don't recommend Hekka.

As above, mine didn't work out of the box and after a few emails they have now ghosted me.

They asked me to show pictures and videos of the issue… And then now I'm ghosted.

Still been given the run around.

For high value items I wouldn't take the risk with this company. From my experience they will do all they can to avoid a return/refund.

You are better off going with Banggood/Aliexpress if you want Chinese goods.

This leaves a pretty bad impression for me. I've never actually received service as bad as this.

I have sent 11 emails (two email addresses), contacted them over messenger, contacted them over live chat and have just messaged their ozbargain rep. Also note their rep just joined ozbargain last month.

The correspondence so far has been me confirming what's wrong, them asking me for evidence, me providing evidence and them ghosting me. After getting a hold of them and repeating the whole thing it's another ghosting. It has been over two weeks since my first email to their customer service.

So keep that in mind if you read this post and are considering ordering from Hekka.

At this point I've come to terms it's $90 down the drain. :)

Hi Circly I dont work for Hekka, but from understanding Becky (@hekka2022) she is the admin here from Hekka, she assisted me to get my full refund for my torch I purchased from Hekka (it was not working after barely 3mths). Worth a try to message her, Good luck mate.

          • @OZGE: Hi OZGE,

Thank you for reaching out. I have DM'd a rep here (possibly Bekka) and will see how things go.

It is unfortunate I need to make a song and dance on here before Hekka take me seriously.

The last thing they told me is they sent the photos/videos to their supplier for verification and for me to wait until they hear back.

That is a bit backwards when you consider how DOA purchases are handled with Australian or other international countries.

How much was your torch out of curiosity? I don't get the impression that Hekka are that keen to refund/return high value items. That or their returns process is downright broken.

I certainly wouldn't risk buying a couple hundred dollar phone with them if the process to resolve issues is so difficult.

In any case I'll keep updating my situation here.

@Circly: Hi @Circly, my torch was only $25 but I was quite disappointed their product died with minimal use, in your case DOA in my opinion should be straight refund.

Initially they asked me for video and pictures then they ghosted me as well.

I have since commented on the Hekka's torch sale whenever it came up, warning people buy from Hekka with risk. Refer here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/715016

Finally a Hekka admin was setup and contacted everyone in the group resolving issues.

In your case for that amount of money I would continue negging them and consider Paypal charge back etc. Put it this way if this product is purchased in Au, it is under AU consumer protection and full refund if DOA.

              Good luck keep us posted.

@OZGE: Yeah if they keep this up their deals will be negged to oblivion every time.

I dont think they realise they can pull the same sort of tricks with people on this site.

I'm glad you got a resolution. I'll definitely keep posting my experiences on their deals. I'm half convinced I won't even get the appropriate outcome.

I've sent a number of videos and pictures of my dead device and they kept saying they didn't receive the emails or that they sent emails to me and to check my spam. The same run around happened on two different emails. I half suspect they do it on purpose so people give up.

Yep I'll definitely keep PayPal up my sleeve. Although PayPal may just make me send back the item (with postage paid). Which would be an annoying resolution for me. I'd rather not do that and just neg every deal from here to warn everyone lol.

Cheers I'll keep you and others posted and warned!

@Circly: 3 weeks and 19 emails sent by me and current resolution is to send me another sd card as that may be the issue.

Thing is I already cloned the sd card with one of my own AND installed custom firmware. Both which do not solve the issue.

So I don't think it will help but their "engineers" want to try.

To their credit they are responding to emails in a timely fashion… At least for now.

                    @Circly: 29th August.

Well, I got a tracking number for the sd card today. Anywho, I check it and it's getting shipped to Poland.

Of course I wouldn't be living in Poland if I was on ozbargain.

I've mentally let go of the $$ I spent on this so its more funny than anything.

Well I suppose this thread will get locked before it's resolved (if ever).

                      @Circly: 4th September

Well my sd card arrived (they sent me someone else's tracking number).

As expected a new sd card didn't do anything and device still turns on.

Been a couple days since I emailed them and no response.

  • is anyone happy with this purchase if you have one?

    • Yep I'm happy. Mine arrived quickly with no faults. I downloaded Amberelec put all my roms on a 512Gb card and have used it heaps - no problems.
To extend battery life I turn WIFI off when I'm not using it.

With such a cheap price you have to expect warranty to be a drama.

It's been 2.5 weeks and they are still asking me for video/photo evidence. Lol

Yeah definitely not worth the risk with higher value items. Good deal if your device works out of the box though!

  • I received mine 2 days ago, wow this device is really awesome! mind you, I already got a handful of modded portable consoles; psp, vita, 2ds XL, 3ds XL, switch… yet the experience in using RG351V is still unique on its own way. I really like the vibrant screen and the right aspect ratio playing the retro games like SNES, Neogeo and the likes, even great with the PS1 emulation, didnt try the more demanding one like N64/Dreamcast/PSP (plan to use other handheld for those instead). Overall, for the price I paid, it really is a bargain, I haven't used custom firmware yet, I've read that it will even improve the performance of this device. The build quality is superb. I hope everyone who got issues on their unit will get it resolved, I got lucky I guess.. it really blew me away with the screen playing snes roms and the responsiveness of the buttons
