How iCloud+ works
iCloud+ is Apple’s premium cloud subscription service. It gives you more storage for your photos, files and backups, as well as additional features including iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email and HomeKit Secure Video support.*

While other subscriptions can't be shared with an overseas account, iCloud+ can be shared with an overseas account via Family sharing

How to get access:

Follow the onscreen steps. In the mobile number section use your Australian mobile number (Very important to use a valid number or risk losing your ID). Choose country as Turkey. Then follow through the rest to create your ID. Login into Apple ID on a browser. Go to this link to enter a Turkish address to your Turkish Apple ID, select payment method as none and save.

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone/iPad > Your Name > Media and Purchases > Log out from your current ID and login with your Turkish Apple ID

  • Buy TL iTunes gift cards (Make sure you only buy Turkish ones, only comes in 25 TRY and 50 TRY denominations) from TurGame > Choose currency as TL/TRY and pay with international transaction fee free card.

  • Redeem iTunes gift cards by going to App Store > Account (located at right top corner) > Redeem gift cards or code.

  • Sign up to iCloud+ via settings or by clicking on this link from an Apple device.

  • While logged in using Turkey ID start Family Sharing group and invite your AU account. Make sure you add iCloud+ to sharing with family.

  • Logout from Turkey Apple ID and login back with AU Apple ID.

  • Accept Family sharing request and enjoy iCloud+

(Australian iCloud+ monthly subscription costs: 50 GB: A$1.49, 200 GB: A$4.49, 2 TB: A$14.99)

Nobody in Australia cares. We're trying to deal with Barilaro, Gladys and co's dodginess here in NSW.

        • You know the democrats are centre-right? Your ideology is more aligned with them than the main Australian political parties lmao

          • -1

@consume: CRT, Trans agenda, abortion until day of delivery, BLM riots, Antifa, defund the police… yeah, centre-right. Sit this one out, Jordie.

@[Deactivated]: What does any of that have to do with how Democrat politicians vote and their policies? You’ve got some serious brain rot going on, maybe take a break from the culture wars hey

              • -3

@consume: You need reminding that the Dems hold both Houses and the White House - their county is going down the sh*tter but their garbage green/social/leftist policies have nothing to do with the state of their nation. Sure, mate. Pray for #Trump2024

                • @[Deactivated]: I agree with everything you just said, even the hashtag but as a punishment lmao

Americas not even a democracy, so it doesn’t matter what either side wants

                  • @consume: Actually, no need to pray, he's coming anyway. It's much more entertaining than Australian politics. Should be a fun next decade (move to the countryside).

                    • @[Deactivated]: I do miss trump and his antics

Move to the countryside because when SHTF, cities and suburbs are affected first?

@consume: Yeah, it's going to be a bumpy ride in the cities. Food, fuel, and heating shortages on the way, even for Australians. Not to mention inflation pricing many out of the rental market.

            • @Wardaddy: Lmao there's a reason Americans look at their political parties and see a right and left, while the rest of the world looks at America and sees two parties on the right. https://bfy.tw/Q71s

              • @consume: I lived there for years while working in government, don't presume to lecture me about US politics. The current Democrats are far left, some are socialists.

                • @Wardaddy: ROTFLMAO! You’ve got to be trolling me!! If you’ve got no clue what far left and socialist means then why even bother starting this conversation

While I’ve got you here, what do you think of this?

                  • @consume: Yeh sure, the squad are all right wingers, Bernie's not a socialist, Buttiegig is straight as an arrow, sleepy Joe wants to protect the borders, and all is right with the world.

                    • @Wardaddy: Squad is definitely trying to seize the means of production hey.

Wish you’d have let me known from the beginning that you were a boot licking right winger. You guys think everyone’s a socialist and communist haha I wish that was the case

Here you go, what actual far leftists and socialist believe
“Socialism is an economic system, Communism is a societal system. In this case, Socialism = “Worker ownership of the means of production”, whereas Communism = “A stateless, classless, moneyless society with Socialism as the economic system.””

Now you can stop looking dumb lmao

            • +1

@atlas: Tried my bank cards and virtual zip card, cant seems to get them working. Not sure about other options

edit: also not workin with amex

@darthsparrow: How to you make payment using a Turkish gift card ?

I have added the gift card to my apple id and there's credit of 50 turkish present but there is a pop up messsage that says " Verification required"
When i click continue , it shows the apple ID and balance , but when I tap on it, there's no option to use the gift card?

                  • +1

@tychiang82: I finally got it to work- however, i works out 30% more expensive with itune gift cards long term. Any one able to have a work around and add the australian credit card?

                    • +2

@tychiang82: hey i had the same issue as you, how did you verify without a turkish number or credit card?

                    • +1

                      @tychiang82: Same problem here.

I was able to add an AU credit card into the Turkish account, thought it'll be the default payment.

However, when I clicked the lin in Step3, it asked me again of a Credit card for payment confirmation, and not accepting the AU card I have added into the account.

Another opition is via a Turkish mobile bumber.

Anyone got a solution for it?

                  • @tychiang82: yeah, how did you resolve this problem?

  • +3

Almost 3x more expensive than google one storage.

    • +6

At least 3x less risk that Apple will suddenly deprecate the product though

  • +1

Any risk of apple locking account with this? Otherwise, looks great.

    • +2

      Wanted to know as well.

What are the chances of losing your data/ apple terminating your account?

    • +1

I'd say this is an intended feature, considering that you can't share things like Apple Music across regions.

      • Yeah that’s true. They could easily prevent it if they wanted.

Wonder what the best solution is for the mobile…

  • @Pricebeat

Just double checking that you have all the other features offered by iCloud+ working with this hack?
    • Private Relay
    • Hide My Email
    • HomeKit Secure Videos

    • +2

I forgot to check. Will have a look

    • +3

Can confirm family sharing works for Private Relay and Hide my email. Have not tried Homekit videos

      • +1

        Thanks, PB for double checking.

  • I have tried but it doesn't take my credit card.

  • +4

    Understand this:
    - Apple ID is what ties all of this.
    - Apple ID has two purpose: iCloud+ and Media Services (App store, music, movies etc)
    - You can sign in with two different Apple IDs for each one of the services. Yes can sign with different countries too.
    - Check https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT207937

However, do remember that Apple ID is also ties in with Continuity. What makes Apple devices works seamlessly with each other. If you are looking for cheaper storage prices, know that it may muck up your Continuity experience. Think of: Wallet, Handover, HomeKit, Hotspot, and many more. See https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204681

I personally wouldn’t recommend switching your Apple ID for the iCloud to a Turkey’s one as you may experience abnormalities in your iCloud related stuff. Go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud and see how many services may behave strangely. Let’s not forget password & security and other privacy matters.

    To me: not worth it.
It may cause more trouble and you will spend time (which is money) to figure it out and to fix it.
But have fun trying and don’t be mad if it broke something else.

    • +1

Oooo one more thing: Apple One ties both iCloud and Media Services together. It’ll be hell to figure out what went south in the event of something broke.

But it’s a free world, do what you wish.

    • +7

I personally wouldn’t recommend switching your Apple ID for the iCloud to a Turkey’s

No one is. it's family sharing to AU account. Two different things

    • +5

I personally wouldn’t recommend switching your Apple ID for the iCloud to a Turkey’s

If you read carefully the solution provided by @Pricebeat, you are not making any changes to your own Apple ID or that of any family members.

All you are doing is creating a new Apple ID. Lets pretend for a generous family member who lives in Turkey, and signs up to iCloud+. They then invites you to join their family sharing pool.

Best comment i seem in the two deals posted. People is willing to pay for an iPhone but get stingy with the Cloud service….

Don't waste your breath, look at the reply below. Here in OZB is all $$$, don't care how the backend tides up, enjoy the cheap account while it last and if their data got lost because of using a blocked second account, they don't care or will go scream their lungs out in apple forum.

      • +3

Best comment that has no relevance to the deal. Comparing apples with oranges.

  • -4

This deal is unobtainable. Australian payment methods don't work. Has the OP even got it working themselves?

    • +3

This deal is obtainable mate. You can buy Turkey iTunes Gift cards from turgame.com (50 TL giftcard for 50TL). Gift cards will be delivered in a few hours only. I did top up my iTunes Turkey account successfully with these gift cards.

  • I seriously don't know what you boys and girls are thinking….

I understand the part that you create a Turkey (or India) account, then family share with the AU ID…..

Can you be sure your Turkey/India ID will not be blocked by mocking around like this? It may not be immediate but could happen down the road. Then you data will be gone!

If you want to save money, back up your phone to itunes, don't go OZB with your data…..

    • Apple doesn’t store data in Turkey. Apple uses AWS, Google as well as their own and pretty sure none of them set-up data Centers where they offer these products.

  • can someone clarify Pt1 for me. how do you setup a Turkey ID with AU number? do i need to VPN to Turkey or can i do it without by changing region or some other setting? also can i change one of my dormant accounts to Turkey?

    • +1

You don’t need VPN to create an ID. Better to set up a new ID

      • Can you share how to create Turkey ID? Thanks

        • Hi
          Go to https://appleid.apple.com/account

Follow the onscreen steps. In the mobile number section use your Australian mobile number (Very important to use a valid number or risk losing your ID). Choose country as Turkey. Then follow through the rest to create your ID. If asked for address, enter a Turkish address.

  • +1

Great deal but cant get it to accept CBA cards or Revolut. Its not as good a value if we have to go via gift cards, if anyone has managed to get a regular payment method working I would love to know!

    • Or any other countries that also have a low price and will accept AUS cards or Revolut.

Gift cards sounds a bit too fiddly and untrustworthy.
Unless someone can recommend a solid gift card website with guarantees.

      • Turgame.com is selling Turkey Giftcards at same value. I just bouth 10x. no issues at all.

        • For Turgame, did you use your real phone number? I’d prefer not to.
I tried a few of the free sms verification services and couldn’t get it to work.

  • +2

I found a few caveats after trying this which in hindsight are probably very obvious.

First is that you cannot invite your TR iCloud account to your existing AU family - it will throw a region error. It does work if you invite your AU iCloud account to the new TR family per the instructions in the OP.

If your AU iCloud is already in a family group you will need to leave that group first before you can join the TR family, and keep in mind you can only swap families once a year.

So while I got it all working using a fake address and iTunes credit from turgame.com, in the end I couldn't really use it. I can't delete the TR account with credit left on it either, but whatever.

Thanks though, OP. It's a good strategy for the right people.

    • +3

      That wasn't what I experienced.

Initially, I did the mistake of leaving my family (I was the organiser) and joined the TR account using my US iCloud account.

When I realised that, I setup everything again. This time, I used my US iCloud account, setup a new family and invited TR plus my existing family members in. We are able to do Purchase and Subscriptions sharing even though there are 2x US accounts and 1x TR accounts in this new family. The only thing that I can't share was Apple Music that I purchased with the TR account.

      • +1

You are right! After reading this I tried inviting my Turkish account to my existing family again and it worked!

      • hi @darthsparrow & @j1nk0r,
I've setup my TR account successfully and attempted to invite the TR account into an existing OZ Family account and got the Region Error like @j1nk0r mentioned.

So just confirming that setting up a NEW Oz Family Apple ID account will work? I haven't setup the iCloud account only the AppleID accounts in both Oz and TR. The TR now has icloud+.

        thanks for your help.

        • +1

You may have to restart the family sharing group by re-inviting everyone. Just a guess.

        • @j1nk0r i m curious to know about this too. i have the TR account setup but haven't activated IC+ on it yet. i am thinking of successfully inviting it into my family first then paying for the IC+ subscription

          • @Jit0809: I can’t explain why it threw the error for me when I tried, but then it didn’t later in the day. So I guess maybe just give it some time? I did have iCloud+ activated on the TR account first in both cases. I invited it to my existing AU family group on both occasions - 2nd time it worked.

            • @j1nk0r: Ok finally success. I followed the steps to have iCloud+ running. Next have a New Family Share in Oz and like all posters mentioned, they were successful inviting other members. I created a new iCloud account in OZ and it worked! Thanks to everyone for their input.

              • @icemanmelb: Hey mate, can you please explain how did you end up inviting the TR account to your Oz account?

                  • +1

@icemanmelb: ok so here is my input. while it failed on iPhone, i was able to login with TR account on my Mac, then accept the invite on the Mac. After joining the family group

                    1. Purchased the iCloud+ on my TR account with giftcard credit from g2a.
                    2. Stopped sharing iCloud+ from OZ account with family members.
                    3. Downgrade to 5GB plan on OZ account.
                    4. Enable sharing iCloud+ from TR account with family members.
                    5. Accept iCloud+ shared storage from TR account.

NOTE: there was no prorata credit for cancelling the service from OZ account. all members moved across seamlessly without any action on their side.

                    • @Jit0809: UPDATE: the credit came back overnight. Also Turgame is cheaper than g2a

        • @icemanmelb: sorry didn’t see your reply, but I did encounter the region error that you mentioned yesterday when I tried adding another member to my Family Sharing and finally figured it out.

When inviting another member, use the iMessage option and have that member click on the link in their Messages app. DO NOT use the Invite in Person option as that was my mistake that resulted in Region Error.

          • @darthsparrow: Do you need to create a new oz family Sharing with the iMessage method?

  • Can anyone kindly advise, if the icloud+ storage can be use for family in which their icloud space already full (15gb) and this include icloud email inbox which belong to family member?

i assume icloud photos will work as per conversation above, but would love to know about icloud drive and icloud email for family member. Will that work?

    Thank you

  • Does this work?

  • Can I add the new turkey Apple ID to existing family sharing will that work?

  • how did people who got the gift card, verify their Turkish accounts?
I've bought a gift card fine, but before it will process anything it asks for me to verify my account using a credit card or mobile number
