  • Great, thanks. Just brought one, but don't know there is cash back.

    • +4

Where did you bring it to?

  • Does anyone know how the cahsback works, its not very clear on the ASUS website, just says e-gift card

    • Sounds like a prepaid credit card with $50 cash but more details would be great yeah

  • This or the TUF AX5400 linked here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12391272/redir

    • TUF is coming up at $241 and UK import. Idk but local delivery and AX5700 is worth $4 lol.

Also the upright design of this router maximises WiFi range from an engineering standpoint, if you’re just popping it on a table.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the cashback. Made my decision easier. Just purchased.

  • Wanted to mention an error in OP's post, the promotion period for the Asus cashback appears to end on the 17th of July according to their website, not the 27th. Problematic for me as Amazon says the router would arrive on the 21st, so I wouldn't be eligible for the cashback (as I believe it needs the device's serial number and such).

As long as you submit your claim by the 27th you should be fine. The purchase period ends 17 July. As long as it arrives before the 27th the deal seems valid.

      See T&Cs

The duration of this promotion is between the 13th of May 2022 and close of business on the 17th of July
      2022 ("Promotional Period").
Participating products must be ordered and paid for within the offer’s promotional period

      and

All claims must be received on or prior to 27th July 2022 to qualify. No extensions will be given
      under any circumstances.

  • Any experts know if this is worth double the price? I missed the officeworks sale a few weeks back at $460 or whatever it was.

  • Will this work with TPG NBN ?

    • +1

RT-AX86S is compatible with all ISPs.

    • It is a Router so will work as long as you can plug in an Internet connection into it.

  • Will this be a significant upgrade from RT-AC68U? Sorry, I am not very informed on this subject. I want to improve my wifi range atleast.

    • From what I can tell range is dependent on frequency mostly and lower frequency = better range. Since both routers have the same frequencies (2.4 GHz) range will be similar. See here https://youtu.be/T2LdR1K0xNo

      • Thanks that's very informative, I find modem/routers (I don't even know what the difference is) very complex. Although I wish to know all about them.

Hmm, been waiting for the AX86U to drop in price as it is a more logical upgrade from my current AC86U, which requires reboots from time to time when some wifi devices are disconnecting. But local stocks for the AX86U seems lacking for some reason - is it end of life? I will stay strong and pass on this one.

    • Yes interesting that stock is very limited. Could be Covid related though?

You can get AX86U locally for almost $500, it's not been on sale for a long time. I've had enough waiting and am getting this instead. Half the price for slightly less feature is a no brainer.

  • I have RT-AC68U and AC86U in mesh configuration

Any advantage to upgrade to this?

  • Second try - if anyone can't get this delivered in time for the cashback (e.g. me), you can grab it by AMZ UK for $261. It does mean messing around with the UK region issues (so not me after all). Link not included as the auto-moderator decided it was an affiliate when I tried before.

  • AX92u or this?

I've already ordered 2 off amazon UK but couldnt decide if the ax86s is the better choice

  • Got my cashback claim approved today.

    • How long did it take? Did you get a confirmation email when submitting it?

      • +1

Submitted on 17/7, didn't get a confirmation email. I received the claim approved email today.

        • Thanks!
