    FYI
Maximum wifi transmission power per country:

    AUS 5G
    Channels: Max txpower (mW)
    36, 40, 44, 48 : 200mW
    52, 56, 60, 64 : 200mW
    149, 153, 157, 161 : 1000 mW

    AUS 2.4G
    Channels: Max txpower (mW)
    1-11: 200mw

    UK 5G
    Channels: Max txpower (mW)
    36-64: 200mW
    100-140: 1000mW
    155, 159, 163, 172 : 4000 mW

    UK 2.4G
    Channels: Max txpower (mW)
    1-13: 100mw

From the above data for 2.4G uk is half the txpower (ie translate to low range, lower speed with increasing distance), for 5G regular channels between (36-64) are the same 200mW. channels 100+ are all different.
Unless you can change the region I do not recommend buying it.

Solid comment! I totally agree. UK routers may seem like a bargain, but they are a different hardware version than Australian ones. I had so many issues with WiFi devices. My conclusion was that it had something to do with channels and Tx power.

  • 5ghz channels look like uk is better?
2.4ghz for mainly for Iot devices anyway

  • I and many many people have imported UK routers before and used them perfectly here. I read a ton of comments about routers and have never heard this raised as a problem so it seems like a total non issue to me.

This is an awesome hi-spec router at a great price and I'm probably going to buy one but I will flag that I keep seeing people complain about crippled upload speeds using it.

So please be aware that if you are unlucky enough to encounter this problem too there's a decent chance you may need to return it.

    • I ordered one and it says there's only one left!!

  • I urgently need one as I'm moving house next week. I was hunting for an RT-AX88U as well as an RT-AX68U and I cannot find any of these in stock. $800 is a bit steep. Would a free trial of Prime allow to be able to take advantage of this deal? Even then, I doubt it'll arrive next week. finding it funny for chip "shortages" for older models but a near $1k model seems readily available… Ok

    • If you're in need of it "urgently", then probably not the time to be picky.
High speed vs cheap price vs fast delivery -> choose what is important to you.

      FYI
      - This unit has ETA (for me, at least) of 15 - 25 July
      - I got the a RT-AX92U (mesh 2-pack) for $479 and happy with it, maybe explore other options.
      - Prime day has basically finished…

      • I'll likely just fork up the full price from JB HiFi. I'll repurpose it when I move out again. I am currently moving into a rental temporarily for a full year, my existing house right now has what's been a great and stable set up of RT-AX88U set up with a pair of RT-AC68U AiMesh. I want to leave this set up as is and uninterrupted as it's perfect for this house. I'll apply some brand loyalty here because the RT-AX88U has been faultless for the last couple of years. If I were to get the same performance for a similar period of time that is literally faultless, then I'll be happy. Thanks.

      • would you recommend the ax86s or the AX92u

  • I highly recommend this router. Just upgrade the firmware and you are good to go.

    • So the UK model can have its firmware changed to match Australian frequencies?

  • I ended up buying this unit from Umart, only $50 off but at least I have a high probability I will get the unit in the next week. I needed one urgently for next week and although I was really after an RT-AX88U or an RT-AX86U, I cannot find them in stock. Even my local JB stores don't have the GT-AX6000.

  • Available at Scorptec for $679 (plus $80 of steam credit if bought before 17th July)
