TCL 75" C727 4K QLED Full Array Android TV 75C727 $1276 + Delivery ($0 to Selected Areas / C&C) @ The Good Guys

1130
SAVEBIG

Looks to be the cheapest FALD TV on the market.
I thought i'd bite the bullet and give a budget TV a go instead of always buying LG OLED lol.

Looks to have some decent reviews on the website but cant find any actual testing by rtings or verified reviewers.

The only thing missing to me is 4k 120HZ.

wow nice deal OP. if you do not find the TVs native android OS responsive enough, just hook up a Nvidia Shield TV. If you get the pro version i think it also upsamples non 4k content to 4k ( not sure on this).

I dont think you will miss the 4k @ 120 if you do not game on it

    • supports hdmi 2.1 and ALLM for gaming, which are both required for 120hz. I really curios how that translate to real world gaming. Anyone have one and can comment? Im really interested in this TV

      • lol I didn't even realise it had HDMI 2.1 very cool

        • It might be HDMI 2.1 but seems like the spec only says video format up to 4K/60Hz.

  • 'hook up a Nvidia Shield TV' or a Andriod Amazon Prime 4k stick (on special elsewhere on OZB) but shouldnt be needed, andriod on TCL by this generation after updates is OK (last gen P715 series sucked for andriod) ~ While x2 the price of many 'budget 75" TVs that have been seen over the last year is worth the extra as this is a nice QLED

Ive been rocking my BigW 75" $900 LEDTV with Andriod for a over a year but I see 55" LG OLED C1s on Facebookmarketplace and id swap it anytime for the pic on the smaller LG

how can you go back to a 55" from a 75" unless you are using it into the bedroom or something

  • this is a nice TV.

  • Great TV. Thought I'd got them a bargain when it was 1550 a couple of months back.

    • hows gaming on it?

      • Not a gamer, sorry dude

    • +1

How is colours in a pitch black room? I know it won’t be OLED but how far off? Looking to buy one for my bedroom

      • Sorry, meant to say it was for my folks. I have watched a handful of movies on it and found the colours to be brilliant.. Then again, I'm no expert.

        • No worries, thanks :)

  • I bought this last year for $1525, haven't had any issues. I don't really do anything fancy with it though, mainly watching through HTPC, playing switch or FTA TV occasionally.

  • +3

    TCL - never again

    • +4

Worst brand, bought it in 2019 and got fault within 6 months, repaired and became unrepairable again within 1 year. Got replacement tv and dead again just after 1 month of warranty expired. Spend some more money And get lg, Samsung or sony it will hurt in the beginning but wil last you few years.

    • +2

I got a lemon and TCL and TGGs pathetic. It sometimes has sound only when turned on but wouldn’t replicate 3 times it has been taken away. I have videos of the issue. NSW Tribunal useless too as no face to face hearings which was the only way I could produce my evidence. Pathetic all round.

  • I have had 2 TCL TVs over the years and have never had any problems. I just wish they weren't a Chinese brand for the obvious reasons.

    • +2

      What obvious reasons?

      • +6

        What obvious reasons?

Maybe the harsh Authoritarianism, blatant theft of intellectual property and brutal treatment toward any culture that isn't them?

        • +9

*brutal treatment toward any culture that isn't them? *

Are we now talking about the Chinese or Americans?

        • +5

Just to clarify, CCP doesn't give a fk s**t to Chinese culture…they are a hybrid of the scumbags of east and west (communist is a German idea) in the worst form.

    • +1

I have had 2 TCL TVs over the years and have never had any problems

I've one for a couple of years and it has been solid. Definitely the best of the budget brands, Builtin Google TV and Chromecast makes it a better proposition than LG for me.

    • +14

Almost everything electronic is Chinese or has Chinese parts. Almost all panels are made in china.
      Don't buy anything electronic then.

      • +4

I always laugh when people complain about Chinese rubbish electronic devices. You either don't want to pay what things are actually worth without slave labour or you put up with their method of quality control (which anyone with any sort of experience knows that it's ship as many products as possible until the lemons are weeded out).

      • +3

That's not correct. LG, Samsung and Sony 'Panels' are NOT made in China. My LG is made in Korea

  • How can it have hdmi 2.1 but no 4k120? Isn’t that impossible?

    • +6

no, not impossible. The panel may not support 4K120.
Just because the input processor supports HDMI 2.1 doesnt mean the QLED panel is capable of displaying it.

Its no different to projector stating it can take a 4K input but the native resolution on the output is 1024x768.

  • I don't know much about modern TVs. What would this be like for sport?

    • +1

yeah I reckon you could watch sport on it

  • suggested wall mount for this bad boi ?

  • +1

is this thing bright enough for daylight ?

I don't care about peak brightness like OLED's all advertise, I wanna know if I can have it in a well lit curtainless area of the house

    • +5

      Pulled the trigger
      That's $1,276 I didn't know I would spend today. Thanks OP!

  • -2

Is there any point without knowing how many FALD zones? it could be 2 zones

    • +2

I believe it has 1296 zones

    • +3

Just because TGG did not list it does not mean it's not on TCL's website.

  • +2

Worth adding that the SAVEBIG code applies to many items. eg the 65" C727 comes in at $956 which has to be the best bang for buck TV on the market.

The Sony X90J 65 is $1795, maybe the cheapest price seen so far?

EDIT: Just tried to buy one but not in stock within 500km of my location :(

    • I bought the Sony 75" Bravia 4K LED 100Hz Google TV 2022 loving it 😍

    • Shame the X90J 65" is running out of stock and no longer goes as low as $1499 like the education price a few months ago.
This C727 65" might be a good deal at under $1K.

      • Just ordered one to replace a 10 year old LG 42" TV.

  • +1

I have the 55" version of this, great TV. Very nice picture quality, the built in Android TV is decent enough, and the speakers are reasonable. It's a bed room TV and you really do appreciate the FALD. Black actually looks black.

  • +1

This TV DOES NOT HAVE A 120HZ PANEL. Don't be fooled by marketing BS. It has a 60hz panel with 120Hz motion smoothing. Fake refresh rate.

  • Currently have a Sony 65" KD-65X9000H, but looking to go upto 75"

Would you consider this TCL a downgrade in quality?

p.s. I don't game on it, just use it for Kayo, Netflix etc

    • Oh well, I hit the trigger anyway.

Figure I'll probably still get around $1000 for my Sony

      • Got $58 cash back from cash rewards and free delivery for this Saturday (I'm inner metro Adelaide)

  • +2

My TCL cheap TV has been surviving 4 years without issue, 5 hours daily use. Wish it may broke someday so I can upgrade. I'm open to any brand as long as it's a great deal.

  • I have a TCL 65" TV and a TCL phone. Both are great value and great quality.

  • +1

I have this TV for around 9 months, cost around $1300-$1400 which I already included the 10% off gift card and cashback from TCL.
The picture of this TV is so much better than other cheaper TV, I guess QLED and FALD make a difference. It is quite a bright TV even it is next to the window. In nights, there will be some bleeding if you watch it pitched black and only in very dark scenes with bright things (eg subs). The bleeding isn’t noticeable at all during none dark scenes or with even a little bit of light on, so I can accept for the price. I think if you need even better picture then you should go for OLED or more expensive TV.
    Sounds is acceptable, not great.
I will recommend this TV to the people who willing to spend a little bit more, but still at a low price; for a TV which is much better than a cheapest TV.
There are a lot better TV out there, but probably none a 75 inch QLED FALD TV at this price.

    • How's the viewing angle? Is colour noticeably washed viewing at at angle?

      • I believe this is VA panel (could be wrong), so viewing angle isn’t very good. I am around 2.5 meters from the TV, probably anything more 2 meters away from the middle can tell the picture quality is fading.

  • +2

Just bought the 65" for $956, click and collect and it's already ready for pickup. 4% cashback from cashrewards too so another $38ish off. Have not upgraded TVs in like 7 years so will be nice to watch Bluey on

  • +2

Just bought one because I could with free delivery to my door. Cheers OP

  • +1

Wanted a better and bigger TV and bought this one based on the number of likes. Thanks OP

  • +1

I just went to store and the rep said there's none in Australia, which is a bit weird but just decided to go there and check the picture quality. I ended up pulling the trigger and see how it goes.
    Thanks OP

    • I also had same experience, I couldn't see it in person. So it'll be interesting. My one is arriving tomorrow so ill see what the picture quality is like then.

    • I went to store and got even better deal. The Good Guys Taylors Lakes have plenty in stock and officially written 20% off on TCL, Samsung and some other brands.

  • Can you use this as a monitor ? or a second monitor ?

  • +2

I’ve just bought one, stacked it with 4% CR which tracked immediately ($58) and TGG $80 store credit which came in today from a deal in June, bringing the price down to $1138. With free delivery in two days, I think this is a great price. Thanks OP.

    • My CR hasn't tracked yet. Does using paypal mess with it?

      • Not sure, I used the app and paid with Mastercard.

    • Might not work with code?

    • Store credit would have invalidated the cashback

      • Why do you think so? Store credit applies as a gift card and cashback terms explicitly say that’s eligible.

    • +1

Received mine today. Delivery was seamless, packaging is perfect. TV and apps work. Sound and picture are great so far. I’m no TV expert but this suits my needs for watching news channels, Youtube and occasional movie nights on Prime Video.

  • I've had this TV for 6 months or so pretty sure i paid $1200 ish from Hardley Normal on sale…You get what you pay for, its a decent TV for the price and size but i do get frustrated with Dark Scenes which can be quite washed out and hard to see at night time. The built in Dolby Atmos Speaker is pretty good for what it is. Don't think i will buy another budget brand TV again though as i am a bit of a Brand snob when it comes to quality Picture normally, and if you're wanting to use this as a gamer, it's ok but you really should be going for a TV with that magical 120hz refresh rate.

    • +2

pretty sure c727 exclusive to The Goodguys. are you sure yours c727? not c725 (no FALD) or some other models?

      • Yes, since when did Hardly Normal sell C727 models?

      • +2

        You're right i must have the c725 :)

    • Which console games can you achieve 4K at 120fps? Can they even hit 60fps?

  • Thanks OP, I have purchased. Been umming and ahhing for months on which cheap TV to get and this sounds like a good choice at a great price so finally made the decision. Thinking it might be good to team up with the Ray Danz TCL sound bar (TS9030).

  • Just saw a new deal at https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/75p735-tcl-75-inch-quhd-…

75P735 TCL 75 INCH QUHD 4K Google TV

Seems little bit better in terms of 4k and recent model.
But need techy advise on comparison.

    Price wise under 1400 AUD.

    • +2

P735 is an entry level model. Not QLED and also lower brightness.

  • +1

is anyone getting free delivery with good guys deal?

    • Yep, I got it with inner Metro Adelaide. Store is a 5-10 minute drive away

    • I went to The Good Guys Taylors Lakes store to check this model and got even more discount with free delivery.

      • Tell us how much you ended up paying mate

        • +2

It was 1250$ Including delivery + 2 tv screen cleaning kit

  • I have two tcls. 75P715 and 75P8MR. They were cheap and have good picture quality but the operating system could be better.
eg They briefly lock on startup asking whether you wish to view the memory card. The major annoyance is you cannot delete recorded movies unless you remove the card, insert it a computer and search for the movies number that you have recorded on a piece of paper.
Both tvs do this although a generation apart showing tcl dont improve over time.
TCL support is also next to useless

  • How is this compare with the Blaupunkt 75" 4K Ultra HD Android TV for $636
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711354?

    • +1

This TCL has 2 things that cost more to build and should improved pictures quality by quite a bit —-> QLED and FALD. But your link is half the price, this TV will not better than TV thats cost $2500. So your choice is the right choice (user review 2.8 though) .

  • Shows to me $1356 + $55 delivery in Adelaide

  • I think this has expired

    • You can still go to store and get this deal. As I went yesterday to store it was already written 20% off and also they arranged free delivery

  • had issues with TCL TV and their support is a joke. there's no support

    • Same here. Arrived dead. On my third round through online support, store support and TCL support. Still TCL need me to provide more information to decide next step. It sounds they still prefer me to contact store to swap/repair my TV. The store is only keen to submit another support call back to TCL. Funny partnership and unhappy me.

Shipping is quick and is the only good experience so far.

  • Called my local and they best they could do now is $1611. Devo.

  • Careful setting up this TV, TCL tries to get you to sign up to a TCL account then leach our your user data.

To get around it, I had to the call TCL and they told me about a hack, press up 5 times, and then down 5 times. This was the only way to get around it during set-up.

    • thanks for the info, ill reset my tv to factory settings and try this

  • +1

    So coming from a Sony 65" KD-65X9000H

    Day 1

    Cons

Set-up was a pain, due to the above thread, TCL trying to get me to sign up to them and leach my data. Could tell the helpdesk knew about it.
Up-scaling by default is nowhere near as good, Friends re-runs, 11 year old is obsessed and makes it our family viewing. looks very pixelated compared to the Sony, only I noticed though. But I think its more real, the Sony was fake smoothing like a zoom calls feature. Jennifer Aniston, I see you without make up.
UI is a little more laggy compared to the Sony, but not huge. Like going from a flagship phone to a good mid ranger. Can imagine in time, I won't even notice.

    Pros

Actually prefer the UI, more integrated into Google TV experience. Sony felt like 2 separate systems.
Brightness seams better, HDR popped by default. Sony made you fell like you needed an engineering degree to get the most out of it.
Prefer the more simple remote, in part due to the better UI. Top half is like a Google TV/Dongle, bottom half is useless. Sony remote, 90% of it was useless.
    Its bigger!

Big test will occur over the weekend with things like Kayo (up-scaling issues?) and premium 4k content in light and dark settings.

  • Anyone else have any feedback about this TV? going to buy one for $1595

  • +1

Well, I have ended up returning the TV. As per my comment above

"UI is a little more laggy compared to the Sony, but not huge. Like going from a flagship phone to a good mid ranger. Can imagine in time, I won't even notice."

Things got progressively worse with the UI/operating system. Lag got worse and worse and I started to get full blow crashes. Power button wouldn't even turn it off. TCL and Google TV performance is a known issue when you look around reviews. Goodguys were super helpful and responsive. Offered a replacement, a deal on another TV etc. I opted for a refund and switched back to the back to the Sony 65" KD-65X9000H.

I did think about just plugging in a Google TV stick, as I was happy with the screen itself. But to buy something new and then having to hack it somewhat, didn't seam right.
