Telstra Mobile 200GB+100GB Monthly Data for $99/Month over 24 Months + Bonus $1000 JB Gift Card (New Port-in Only) @ JB Hi-Fi

140

I noticed the bonus gift card is up to $1000 (from $800)
I still don't really feel this is a deal unless you actually need 300gb / month of data- but there may be some it will help here.
(and given Telstra are already beginning to raise their prices by CPI for their BYO plans it may be ok to be locked into a price for a few years)

100GB bonus data ends 31/8/2022

$57/mth .. not great unless you really need that much data

    • I suppose it could be good for those who are on same account and do data sharing. Other accounts could drop to lower plans to offset cost.

      • +2

AFAIK JB Telstra Plans do not allow data sharing. This was what I've been told recently when I checked with a JB rep.

        • You appear to be correct. That sucks then. It says in T&C’s “All data expires at the end of the month and is not shareable.”

I guess the good old $59/month 200gb/month for 12 months with $500 gift card is never going to happen again?

    • $400 is fine

  • +9

JB+Telstra mobile deals are really only worthwhile if it's on 12 months contract.

    • +2

True, when there are cheaper plans coming out, no one wants to lock themselves for 24 month contracts

      • -1

With inflation how it is I wonder if plans won't drop and will go up …so maybe good to lock a cheap price in.

This is not it for me way too much data

    • second that!

There’s a mobile offer bundle plan on atm at JB

$699 upfront for the Oppo Find X5 on a $69/month for 12 months (page 5 of the catalogue)

      But it’s Oppo -.-

      • There might be a bonus $250 voucher for oppo phones. I was looking around and got sent the bonus voucher, don't know what I did.

300GB upfont plan is only $89 at Telstra, so the effectve GC value is only $760 not $1000.

pulled the trigger last time. Obtain a new number within my account, jump straight to chat after to move my old number to the new account. Cancelled the old pre-paid account and the new obtained number. Waited around 15 minutes and done.

    • Is it a lot of hassles to do that?

      • 15 minutes.

        • So what do you say to the chat? Just said I signed up new contract with JBs Telstra plan but I want to move my current old number on upfront Telstra plan to this new contract ?

          • @cloudie9: The rep just asked me like 3x to confirm that he is doing it right. Didn't asked for plan or whatever. He just asked about the new and old number and where it is going.

          • -1

@cloudie9: There are several comments like this from previous deals and I just followed it. So yeah, no port in/out. I need that 300gb as I always watch horse / NBA at work.

      • Doesn't work anymore .. his experience was years ago

    • Apparently no longer possible to do this

      • can tell you now it's possible. Did it last time for the same deal like this.

        • When?

Recently people said that Telstra do not allow anymore

          • @matt-ozb: Like everything with Telstra, their inconsistent. It's all luck of the draw who you speak too.

            • @scuderiarmani: But when were you successful?

              • -1

@matt-ozb: Years ago I did it.

                But everyone's experience is different.

                • @scuderiarmani: Exactly .. doesn't work now .. everyone failing as Telstra have strict policy

                  • @matt-ozb: I've heard it doesn't work lately. And more importantly, I wouldn't risk signing up to a huge plan if I couldn't be 100% sure it'd work.

From memory I did it for the Fold 2. Then paid out the plan anyway.

But like port in discounts with Telstra, Many on chat wouldn't help. Many would. Telstra is just luck, like Foxtel really. Big reason I don't bother with them anymore FWIW.

                    • @scuderiarmani: It worked last year for me but the hoops i had to jump through almost made it not worth it. Almost lost my old number as well in the process

Unless you REALLY need an absurd amount of Mobile Data I don't know how anyone can justify being on a plan, not with all the incredible deals on prepaid. Even simple things like Woolworths monthly 10% off groceries is huge value add.

If you don't have NBN I guess these come in handy too. Though 300gb on streaming may not last long anyway.

unlimited data on felix for $35 is my price ceiling.
yes, yes, thats vf, this is telstra, but meh.
where I am it all washes out

  • Still cannot beat this deal from Goodguys:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/704011

Does JB apply monthly credit to this deal?

  • If they did the $30 back on top of this deal, like they did previously then it would be a decent deal

  • I was told by the JB staff in Melb CBD store that the bonus gift card value for this deal has been bumped to $1200, however it reduces back to $1000 from Sunday onwards.
