it's actually 4,588 for the R5 due to the $1000 discount limit. good price regardless.

tingling to buy. pls send help :<

    • Thanks, was calculating and typing out on my phone in a hurry ;-)
Buy now on credit, then do your tax return quickly ;-)

    • +2

      You don't need a R5.

      • +3

        thanks mom

      • That's why the R6 is already sold out

    • "This is not the camera you are looking for"

  • +2

Woah. That is an epic price. Cheapest by at least $400-500 for the R5.
    Nice find.

  • fk… paid 5000$ like 6 mths before

  • Wow, I’m contemplating an R7 as I can’t justify spending $2k let along $3.5k or more for the R6 or R5…but that’s almost tempting me to step up to the R6
I like the auto tracking feature on the R7 though and don’t need 8k recording on the R5

    VERY TEMPTING!

    • +1

On the off chance that you pull the trigger on a R7 before 31/08/2022, don't forget: https://www.canon.com.au/products/specials/eos-r7-r10-pre-or…

    • I'm thinking about getting the r7 too… You can price match and use the 5% discount to bring it down to under 2100 on jbhifi. Not sure if I should buy the r7 and wait a month before it arrives or wait for people to sell them second hand… If anyone has any advice that would be great :P

      • R7 was marked OOS when I checked this morning. Not sure if that was deliberate;-)

        • Should be available to purchase on jb… but some stores are definitely out of stock

  • Oh good price. I had to stack boxing day sales and Canon cashback to get a little better price early this year on my R5. Smashing price for the R6 though.

  • R6 out of stock already unfortunately, was rushing to grab one but too slow..

  • Canon EOS R6 Body sold out.

    • Great, my wallet breathed a sigh of relief ;-)

  • +1

Just sold my R6 second hand yesterday for $2900, tempted now to rebuy.

  • What can you use these cameras for? That's a lot of cheddar for a camera!

    • +13

      I assume for photography…

    • +2

      High end cheese

  • R6 is OOO…

  • R6 with 24-105 f/4-7.1 kit $3271.20 still in stock:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/353707445326?epid=3045145215&has…

IMHO not great value as the kit lens is dogshit but it's there.

  • +1

Still having my Nokia N95 for photos.

    • +1

It took me 2 seconds to map 'N95' to a phone. But you are right :)

  • Is R5 C better than R5? Worth extra $1041?

    • +1

Different use cases. Plus fan, minus IBIS. R5 for stills plus some videos. R5c for cinemas.

      • Thanks, I am considering buy one for my dad.
He is using 5d mark iii at the moment.
Not sure which one is a good for him.

        • +2

The R5C is part of the Canon Cinema Camera line and is meant for digital cinematography. Unless your dad is shooting high end videos, it's not for him. The R5 is a photography/stills camera first, and a video camera second. It's the other way around for the R5C.

          • +1

@jmys01: So that mean R5 is better performance on photography than R5 C.
            Thanks for your great help.

            • @getit: Personally speaking I think R6 has the best value, but unfortunately it's sold out too quickly.
Maybe speak to your dad and see if he has anything in mind?
Because I'm also using a 5D3, and changing to mirrorless means new sets of lenses, or get a ring which is not all that ideal, and eventually still need to get mirrorless lenses as it's where the world is going.

I pretty much only do still landscape photography, but the R6 can still output 4k60 for video, which is definitely enough I think.
Even the R5 (not R5C) has superb video capabilities, which I think is not needed by most people.
My only complain about the R6 is the 20M pixels, if they can bring it up to 25-30, that would be the sweet spot.
R5 has 40M+ pixels, it's just an overkill unless large format printing, but that's another story, it can cost over a hundred dollars to just print one.

I'm not a professional, but hope it helps.

If you have to ask this question you probably shouldn't buy either.

  • +2

    nice, got the last R3

    • What price were they going for after discount?

      • +1

$7299. also I use it for work so it's a lot more justified coming from 1dx

        • Great price, no wonder they sold out quick. I've had a couple since February and going great.

  • R7 all the way baby! If the R6 didn't overheat I'd love one actually but man, that RF FF glass is priiiiicey!

    • Yeah I picked up an r7 last week, loving it to bits.

    • Canon now have some affordable STM RF lenses.

    • +1

I have been doing long days shooting lots of video with an R6 for over 12 months now, both internally and via an external recorder. My R6 hasn't even come close to overheating once.

  • you cant stack this with shopback 4% can you?

  • R6 vs A7iv ? Which one will you pick if you haven't invest in any of their lenses

    • Personally A7IV. Sony has a better selection of E mount lenses IMHO. Canon is still building out their RF lens range.

    • +1

It's a personal choice to what features are important to you. I like the current Canon R range because of their colour science, AI tracking, and more intuitive menus. They also have some of the best glasses as well. Others might like Sony AF and access to cheaper Tamron and Sigma lenses.
As for lenses, the RF system now have the lenses that 99% people likely use. Including the popular ones like 24-105mm F4, 24-70mm F2.8, wide angle like 15-35mm and telephoto like 70-200mm. They also have the more affordable STM range. I can see some good prices atm.

      • +1

meh on colour science its a mute point when you for eg use a colour checker passport. damn good prices though for which ever system you love
i literally bought the sony 200-600g week and a half ago. still had a good price at $2400 but this sale would have brought it under $2200 i think. Not even my mate who is a manager at the store knew this was coming

      • Some of Canon's glass may be better, but you're talking the most expensive glass. Entry level / standard stuff IMHO Sony has better … or same for cheaper (e.g. Sony 200-600 vs the RF 100-500, the Sony is basically half the price and has longer reach). As a person who likes fast primes, Canon is really lagging (no fast primes wider than the 50/1.2 for example). I have Canon EF and RF and Sony E mount.

    • Unpopular opinion. I would pick Canon with EF glass and the ND filter adapter.
Can buy CPL one too.. makes life so much more enjoyable.

  • Imagine this price for the R5 plus Canon cashback…..

I reckon it's on the cards for sometime this year.

  • What a price for the R5

  • +1

Prices have been further dropped on many items. Not the R5, but others have had drops of a few dozen to a few hundred dollars.

    • +1

Hmmmm I was looking at a lens yesterday and it said "more than 10 available" … But now it is "out of stock" but only 2 have been sold in the past 24 hours which was the same as I saw yesterday. Hope it gets "restocked"

      • +2

Look at history, you might see the quantity was changed late this afternoon when many items disappeared. Am guessing they are pulling off the items that are not profitable with the discount code. Or they are getting complaints from Canon and other retailers…. Some of theses prices are unusually low.
Good on the buyers who managed to snag these bargains in time though.

        • +1

They got complaints from Canon apparently.

  • +1

The R6 is OOS at DD but here is the next best deal which is another bargain, not enough quantity to make a post:
sunstudiosaustralia42 $3095 minus $300 with 10% off code here. I have tested it. Code expires tonight.
