  • It really should be up to 14c/L discount, because the discounted at EG locations in Tasmania is 6c/L.

    • Thx updated

  • Nice find!

  • I cant see my referral code

    • What referral code?

      • look up

        • i just get a bar code on the app, no need for a referral code.

          • @jv: I am talking about the randomiser

            • @screensaver: Do Origin even do referrals ?

              • @jv: Yes they do, want mine ? lol

      • Yep! I spoke with Origin Energy support and 2 different people confirmed it.

Hey man, we heard you like Fossil Fuels, so…

    • -2

we heard you like Fossil Fuels

      I do…

I like to use them whilst wearing my Fossil watch

    • I hate fossil fuels (and don't drive as a result) but this is a bit daft, very few people actually like fossil fuels who aren't members of the LNP. But good luck being able to source and pay for an electric car at the moment (unless you want a used 10 year old Leaf with a munted battery for $20k).

      • +4

I was just making the point; Origin Energy is among the worst performers on green electricity generation (they are Australia's fourth biggest climate polluter), and their chosen promotion is to make petrol cheaper.. seems a little tone deaf to me, but whatever

        • ah, gotcha, I was thinking just in terms of petrol usage.

Doesn't really matter who you buy power from in Australia though, you're getting a pile of coal doing it. Origin is definitely one of the shittiest companies out there though.

  • Does it cost anything to generate such code in one's account? Probably can request one from another member if you are not with Origin.

    • +1

my account just got closed because I signed up with ea. Code generator is still there. Code lasts 15 mins

    • Does it cost anything to generate such code in one's account?

You can get a similar one with Coles Express using the free AFL app… No need to be an Origin customer…

      • +2

Coles petrol is usually more expensive (up to 10c/L more) than many others (where I live, anyway)

        • only people that use it are organisations with a company fuel card I reckon

          • @Poor Ass: I do use it on the odd occasion they are similar in price to others, as I shop at Coles more than woolies (better Flybuys deals), but it doesn't happen very often

        • Coles petrol is usually more expensive

          Usually, but not always…

          • @jv: always exceptions but downside no discount gift cards to pay with

  • wish I had known that today. I filled up at woolies caltex today with my 4c docket deal, but it would have been an extra 4c off with this. I don't have any dockets for woolies left, so I will still use this deal tomorrow when I fill the second car. Thanks.

    • oh no chopper?

    • just get another Woolies docket…

      • +1

lol, you have to spend $30+ to get the 4c off ?

        • +1

          lol, dockets are free

          • @jv: as I am not driving somewhere to scrounge around for dockets tomorrow, I will just drive to the petrol station and use this

            • @souths123:

as I am not driving somewhere to scrounge around for dockets tomorrow

They're readily available in the trolley bay….

              4 cents x 60 litres = $2.40 !!!

              • @jv: trolololol

              • @jv: again, I am not driving around to trolley bays atm to find dockets. I am going straight to petrol station and straight home tomorrow, anymore than that would negate bothering with the 4c docket scrounge. I prob only have to put in max 35L tomorrow. We don't have large cars and don't use them much compared to most. I only fill the cars once every 4-6 weeks.

  • 4 cents a liter seems so outdated for a discount, you can get a lot better savings just finding the difference in locations now.

    • This deal is "up to" 12 cents discount and is much better.

    • +1

4 cents a liter seems so outdated for a discount, you can get a lot better savings just finding the difference in locations now.

Sometimes, the place offering 4/8/12 cents discount is also the cheapest…

    • This from 2013!!!!

"THE days of big shopper docket fuel savings are over after Coles and Woolworths agreed to limit discounts to four cents a litre. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on Friday announced the two supermarket giants had agreed to the four cent a litre maximum discount limit."

"Fuel shopper docket schemes offered by supermarket chains Coles and Woolworths will be hit with a discount cap of 4¢ a litre from January 1, the competition regulator has announced.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced it had accepted undertakings from the supermarket giants that they will voluntarily stop offering fuel shopper docket deals to their customers that are funded by other arms of their businesses.
Under the brokered deal, both retailers may continue to offer fuel saving offers to their supermarket customers, but any discounts on fuel offered to supermarket customers from January 1 are not to exceed 4¢ a litre."

  • +1

remember those days where all the 4c stations just simply increase the price by 4c and then called it a discount

    • Better scam running now with some idiots waiving half the fuel excise to help fiddle the bottom line….

      • I believe that scam is still running… imagen when that's over…… +22.1c

        • Servos profit will tighten.
We’ll pay more - but I have no issue with that under the present circumstances. At least it’s a levy focussed on users and helps pay for roads.

  • +3

Anyone else getting a bit over the many variations of Ampol/Woolworths? Some sites display the "Earn Everyday rewards here" - but don't give discount, others do give discount but, don't accept E-giftcards, and then the EG ones which give discount and accept E-giftcards.

Ok, so that's only 3 variations, but still a bit sour as during holidays I was heading to one which was EG, but was on other side of the road, when I saw an Everyday rewards sign at one on the same side of the road so filled up. Nadda!

    • +9

The whole situation with EG, Ampol, Chevron, Woolworths, Caltex and Everyday Rewards is an absolute hot mess. It's actually the main reason I started a Fuel Discounts wiki page.

      Item EG1 Ampol2 Commentary
AmpolCash (physical) gift cards Yes Yes
AmpolCash (Digital) gift cards No Participating locations only Only 73% of Ampol locations (986) accept AmpolCash Digital.
Gift cards issued by Woolworths Group (WISH, Essentials, Fuel) Yes No Ampol Woolworths Metro and Ampol Woolworths MetroGo locations do not accept gift cards issued by Woolworths Group, despite using Woolworths branding on the convenience store.
Woolworths fuel vouchers Yes Participating locations only Only 16% of Ampol locations (218) accept Woolworths fuel vouchers.
Everyday Rewards points Participating locations only Participating locations only All EG locations (excluding five in mainland Australia and all in Tasmania) award Everyday Rewards points. Meanwhile, only 45% of Ampol locations (611) award Everyday Rewards points.
Everyday Rewards Dollars Participating locations only No All EG locations (excluding five in mainland Australia and all in Tasmania) accept Everyday Rewards Dollars as a payment method.

I also had a closer at Ampol locations and I pulled out two statistics:

      • Out of the 611 Ampol locations accepting Everyday Rewards, 399 do not accept Woolworths fuel vouchers.
      • There are also 6 Ampol locations that do not accept Everyday Rewards, but accept Woolworths fuel vouchers.

No wonder people get so confused.

      1. EG refers to locations that appear on the EG store locator. It also refers to locations that appear on the Ampol store locator as Woolworths Caltex or EG Fuelco Ampol

      2. Ampol refers to all locations that appear on the Ampol store locator, excluding Woolworths Caltex or EG Fuelco Ampol. There are EG locations co-branded with Ampol (or Caltex), but I will exclude them from this definition, because EG runs their locations quite differently from Ampol (even though EG sells fuel supplied by Ampol). Ampol includes Ampol Woolworths Metro and Ampol Woolworths MetroGo; these locations exist, due to Ampol entering into an agreement with Woolworths to license the Woolworths Metro and Woolworths MetroGo brand to Ampol to use on the convenience store at locations in lieu of the Foodary brand.

      • +1

Haha. Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one!! Hot mess for sure. They certainly need to figure it out!

I think it was branded Ampol Woolworths MetroGo - and yeah, saw Everyday rewards and Woolworths and thought I'd found the trifecta. I'm sticking to the one EG I know, and boycotting all others!!

        • To put another layer of confusion to the Ampol, Woolworths and EG mess. In addition to the 6 Ampol Servos (all in Tasmania) which accept the 6c Woolworths Dockets, but doesn't accept the EDR card.

All EG servos in Tasmania currently doesn't accept the EDR card for points, but will accept the dockets for the 6c discounts. I'm not sure if EG servos in Tasmania only requires the user to show the EDR card like the participating Ampol servos in Tasmania does.

          • @abr83: If you are purchasing fuel from a Tasmanian EG location and you present an Everyday Rewards card with at least one fuel e-voucher stored on it, EG will redeem a fuel e-voucher from the card.

I have not tested the scenario of purchasing fuel from a Tasmanian EG location and presenting an Everyday Rewards card with no fuel e-vouchers stored on it, but I suspect nowadays you will not receive a fuel discount in this scenario.

I find it odd that the six Tasmanian Ampol/Caltex locations still only require you to show an Everyday Rewards card to receive a fuel discount, especially since this started around 2015 (years before Everyday Rewards was formally introduced in Tasmania). These locations originally didn’t even scan the Everyday Rewards card; they would instead manually apply the fuel discount and then write down a copy of your Everyday Rewards barcode number on a merchant copy of the purchase receipt… not exactly sophisticated.

    • +1

Totally agree - I only fill up once in a blue moon and have yet to visit an Ampol that did the discount. The most recent disapointment being the AMEX deal. I guess it makes sense if you have discovered a local station that the magic works at.

    • Sick of this stupid discount thing too. In years to come when we are all running EVs, refuelling ICE cars won’t be one of the fond memories……
      NO!!!
Suddenly realised we are soon going be picking over CHARGING DISCOUNTS !!!!

‘Gonna’ sail away to a distant shore and be like an ape man….’ 😭😭😭

      • charge at home

        • Lots will, but lots won’t be able to.
And the draw for charging won’t be about the vehicle at all really - it will be getting customers into the business for a time period in which they can sell captives other goods and services.

          • +1

@saltypete: especially those apartments with no charging port

            solar on ya car lol

  • Are these reusable?

  • Will this stack with the long running RACV 5c discount also?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/785517

    • +2

      No.

      • This is against the terms and conditions of both the Origin Energy discount offer and the RACV discount offer.

      • Multiple people on OzBargain have tried stacking the Origin Energy and RACV discount offers in the same transaction, but the checkout automatically removed one of the discount offers.

      • +1

        thanks for your prompt response.

      • +1

        No.

        C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

  • Is it ever worth it to spend $5 in-store to get the additional 4c per litre off?

    my math

    50 Liter fill @ $1.75 pl = $87.5
    - $0.04c woolies = $85.5 ($2 total savings)
    - $0.04c origin =$83.5 ($4 total savings)

    • $0.04c $5 station spend =$81.5 ($6 total savings)

so i guess so long as the item you are spending $5 on can't be had for < $3 technically in front???

  • if you're not an Origin customer, just download the areevo app, generate a fuel discount code and it will give you a 4c off voucher. It says it last 15 minutes but you can screen shot and use it infinitely. Stack it with your Woolies 4c voucher for 8c off

  • +2

Ampol is also an energy retailer now, and one of the cheaper retailers at that, and they offer 10c/L off fuel at their stations if you use them for electricity. Their app is also really quick for paying at the pump so you don't have to go inside.

    • Three things with the 10c/L discount via Ampol Energy:
      1. It only applies to Ampol branded servos, so EG Ampol is out.
      2. There's a yearly limit of 1500 litres (not an issue for many, but I'm yet to find out a way to check the cumulative usage).
      3. This 10c/L discount cannot be stacked with anything else, including the Woolies 4c/L docket; but you'll still be able to get Woolies reward points.

In a nutshell, it still pays to do a bit of quick calculation to see whether you want to fuel up at Ampol (assuming you're eligible for the 10c/L discount from Ampol Energy) or EG Ampol (assuming you're eligible for the 4c/L discount from Origin, have access to the 4c/L discount from Woolies, and possibly considering to spend $5 in store at the servo).

Four things with the 10c/L discount via Ampol Energy:

        1. It only applies to Ampol Foodary branded servos, so all other Ampol service stations (including EG Ampol) is out.
        2. There's a yearly discount cap of 1500L (and Ampol defines a “year” as the 12 month period from when you first sign up for an Ampol Energy plan).
        3. This 10c/L discount is not officially permitted to be stacked with anything else, including the Woolies fuel discount. Having said that, depending on the Ampol Foodary you go to and the staff member serving you, you may be able to get away with stacking this 10c/L discount with a Woolies fuel discount.
        4. You will be able to earn Everyday Rewards points when redeeming this 10c/L fuel discount at Ampol Foodary service stations on mainland Australia. (Ampol Foodary service stations in Tasmania are currently excluded from the Everyday Rewards program, mostly because they still offer a 6c/L discount when redeeming a Woolies fuel discount.)
        • @WookieMonster
Would the 4c/L discount from Origin Energy stack with the 10c/L discount I was offered on my Everyday Rewards ???

          • +1

            @chrisie: I don’t think so.

            • The Origin fuel offer terms says nothing about it working with the 10c/L Everyday Rewards discount (and vice versa).

            • Two people confirmed in the related 10c/L deal that it did not stack with the RACV fuel offer (which is another partner discount offer).

You could always give it a go, but if you do so, I think you will end up redeeming the Origin discount for the day (which means you will need to wait until midnight AEDT before you can redeem the discount again).

            • +1

@WookieMonster: Hey Buddy many thanks for your very quick response. I'll give it a go and see what happens
Thanks will let you know :)
