  • That'd be equivalent to about a 10% rebate? about as good as it gets these days, unfortunately.

    • +30

Yep, you will have 10% of the Apple gift card’s value returned to you in the form of Everyday Rewards points.

(The 10% calculation assumes you opt to redeem your Everyday Rewards points for Everyday Rewards Dollars (either through Money Off Shopping or Bank For Christmas), as 2,000 Everyday Rewards points are converted into $10 Everyday Rewards Dollars.)

There hasn't been a higher (or lower) bonus points earn rate for Apple gift cards (i.e. 30x) at Coles, Woolworths or BIG W since October 2021.

      • +2

        Thanks for the research

      • +2

        I thank thee

  • +3

Make sure you set your rewards method to "bank for christmas" until you're ready to spend the points.

    • +4

      why bother?

    • +2

      whys that?

      • +5

Anyone can check your balance and steal any points with just your membership number.

        • +2

          Yep, that happened to me.

          • +2

@cheaponos: Happened to me too. Someone used it to fill up petrol in Vic (I'm in Sydney) and then immediately drained the rest of it at Woolies at the same place.

Thankfully they replaced my card restored my shopping dollars after I reported it.

Everyday Rewards has some glaring security issues:

            • Multiple ways to log in, either membership number or email with multiple ways to authenticate
            • Automatically converts points to rewards dollars per 2000 (unless set to "Bank for Christmas")
            • Zero verification needed redeem said dollars. All that's needed is your membership number/barcode, which can be easily guessed. No PIN, or app or SMS verification.

When I reported the theft of my rewards dollars I suggested to them that they improve security because it's outstandingly bad and was told it would be passed on, but I don't see anything happening on that front.

            • @lint: Wow… I'd never thought of it, but you're all right. The security of WWR points is even LESS "secure" than Qantas FF…

I could see a scenario where a potential bad-actor operating the checkout would see that a person is buying a number of cards during a big-bonus promo, and then note down those WWR details that are clearly displayed on the screen for ALL to see BTW…. I think it even show both NAME and NUMBER from memory…. and do exactly what is described above to jump in before the purchaser and skim the points from the WWR account… before the person even gets home.

They say up-to14-days for points to credit, but my experience is the points appear "immediately" after purchase… in a few minutes.

              • +2

@timjohns: don’t need to do that. they regularly send offer emails with links that log you in to the EDR website with no password. i’m sure someone has reverse engineered the link format. you can’t change anything but you can view available rewards dollars which is all you need

    • +2

my account got scammed three days after my last 20x bonus points event, but consultant from everyday rewards was very helpful. Hopefully i will get my $ back soon

      • +3

I also had my points stolen. Twice! There seems to be a lot of it happening.

      • How did it happen

        • +3

guess a ww rewards number, generate a barcode.

scan it at the checkout and if there's any dollars on that account you can spend them.

with flybuys you need to swipe the physical card.

          • -2

@[Deactivated]: With flybuys I just scan the barcode from my phone

            • +1

@noren7: to spend the flybuy dollars?

            • @noren7: How?

            • +2

@noren7: with collecting flybuy point, yes, barcode only.
with spending flybuy dollar, no, physical card required.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: You don't need the physical card for Flybuys but you need to choose to convert the points to shopping dollars, then to spend those dollars at checkout, you need to need to enter a PIN for verification. Nobody can steal your points just by guessing your member number or generating your barcode to use at checkout.

Everyday Rewards has none of those security features.

            • @lint: This!

            • +1

@lint: not true. i got my flybuys stored in stocard on my phone. redeemed my points without ever entering pin. just redeemed $10off my shopping yesterday

    • … or convert to QFF points at 2:1 ratio?

  • +6

Just checked the past deals and the last time was 25/5/22 to 31/5/22, so this offer might be the last one before the new iPhones come out.

    • +3

Don’t forget Big W. They have them on sale now. Seems these are always available somewhere for 20x points.

    • +3

Between Woolies, Big W and Coles, there seems to be a 20x bonus points offer roughly every 2 weeks.

      • +1

Good point, although if you're like me you shop at WW and don't have a Big W.

  • +1

    C'mon google.

  • Do people prefer this over 5% off gift cards?

    • +10

Yes, because the return is more than 5%.

      • +1

        whats it equel?

        • +2

If you normally shop at Woolies anyways, you're basically getting 10% off the gift cards.

But ysince you need to buy something else at Woolies to realise the savings you're getting $110 value from $100, so you're basically saving 9.1% if you think of it that way.

  • Come on wws give us 25x

  • +1

Come on, give us straight discounts rather than crummy points!

    • +8

what’s in it for woolworths doing that? this gets you to buy more groceries

    • +1

Care to share where you buy your food for this to be a problem?

  • +11

I just got called by Telstra, they wanted these as payment. Considering I can get money back in points thats a win-win!

  • +2

Same, first he asked me to install "Any Desk" and then to log into my Amazon account. Strange but he seemed like a nice Indian fellow that somehow knew my computer had a virus… hahahaha

  • I have seen a few of these deals over the last few weeks, as most users have mentioned…

I’m a little confused how they work.
Essentially you’re not getting any discount on the gift card, but rather extra points, which can then be converted to discount on your next shop at Woolworths, right?
Are the 10% off Apple gift cards no longer a thing now at Coles, Woolies etc? Is this the new norm?

    • +2

It gives you points which you can exchange for $ to spend text time on Woolies food run. So it works out if you continue to eat food.

      • Thanks for clarifying.
I don’t often shop at Woolworths so I may explore getting 5% off Apple gift cards via my financial institution instead

        • +1

Do you shop at Coles? They do a similar deal from time to time. You can also convert Everyday Rewards Points to Qantas Points.

        • +5

You can also buy ultimate gift cards when they are 10% off and convert them into Apple gift cards at JB hifi

          • @RTY: Good to know, thanks!

  • So, is it correct that with this offer, I buy my gift cards, redeem them to add to my Apple account balance, and then can use that account balance to purchase the iPhone 14 when it is released?

I’m using an 8 right now and it is on its last legs, so I won’t be able to wait for a deal on the new one. It seems like this (WW cash back) is as good as it will get, assuming I can use these cards to pay for the newly released one in September.

I just don’t want to mess up and end up with Apple cards I can’t/won’t use. I looked on the Apple site to see if there was a limit to how much you can redeem, but I couldn’t find anything, however I (think I) recall something mentioned on OzB a while ago.

    • +3

maximum of 8 giftcards or load up your apple balance with unlimited giftcards

      • Cheers AH 🙂

      • And even then, the guy at Chatswood let me use like 20 gift cards at last iPhone release no problems.

But yes, procedure is exactly as you say. Technically 8 max, especially if you order over the phone - but in store is very flexible and adding to account is no problems as stated.

    • +3

Max balance you can have on your account is $4999, so no problems with purchasing an iPhone with credit.

      • Champion. Thank you.

  • I am not buying an iPhone 14. I swear bro.

  • Can I use these to pay for an iCloud Subscription?

    • +1

definitely, Apple Care+ too, and along other subscriptions :)

  • I’m using the 11 pro max. Hopefully the 14 will be a big enough upgrade to justify buying it.

    • I'm still on the XS Max. Initially I wanted to upgrade last year, but was disappointed with the specs.

  • +1

The manager at our local woolies only allows $500 worth of the apple gift cards per day. He is so grumpy. When I scan them it asks the staff member to verify the expiry date. That’s when they limit me to the amount. He tells me there are too many scams. So annoying. I just go in each day and buy one 500 card. As with the limits there are very few keen people who bother to do what I do and as such the stock does not deplete very fast.

  • -1

So how much is the iPhone 14pro max 512 gonna cost me ? Time for a big upgrade. Just need to make sure I buy enough apple credit for the phone.

    • Given the 13 Pro Max 512 is $2369, the 14 Pro Max 512 will likely go up in price a little, I would get $2500 of gift cards.

    • You should look at what the Pro has over the normal Iphone and see if its worth the cost.

I got the pro for years but when I looked it up, the extra money was for extra functions on the camera, but if youre like me and only ever take still photos of there dog and or friends I realised I had never actually taken advantage of the "pro" functions the entire time I had the phone so when I got the 13 i just got the normal iphone.

If youre a photographer and use the features disregard.

  • What's the max card denomination instore? Is it only $200 or can you get $500 if there is stock?

    • Woolworths stores usually stock a variable load denomination, where you can load any amount between $20 and $500 inclusive.

The next highest denomination usually stocked is $200.

      • +1

Thanks very much, I see the "variable" one mentioned in the catalogue terms now - so the variable about e.g. $500 must be set in the store at the time of purchase I assume? Otherwise the points wouldn't be able to be tracked if the amount is set after purchase on apple portal?

        • +1

That's right. You tell the checkout person how much you want to put on the variable card.

  • -3

Excellent! Now I can pay my tax bill.

    • +3

I am a tax agent, please PM me all your apple gift card and I will sort out your tax for the financial year. Service is FREE for new customers.

  • -1

Can I use cash to pay those gift card at wws?

  • I just want to triple-check that I can get the bonus rewards on the variable gift card (ie you choose a value between $20 and $500). Can anybody confirm?

    • Yes you can. Any card except for the $20 fixed value one is eligible.

    • Yes. I’ve done it before.

  • Thanks mate

  • Can you use apple gift cards to get a screen replacement?

  • Can you buy these online and get the reward points added?

    https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/

    • +2

      No.

The deal is only valid in-store at Woolworths Supermarkets and Woolworths Metro.

For future reference, the Woolworths Group gift card portal (the one you linked to) runs its own gift card promotions, and they're very separate to the ones you see in the Woolworths catalogues.

  • Dumb question but when I click on the deal I cant actually find the part that says its on. Its available in the ACT yeh? ive clicked through the catalogue but no luck

    • +1

Found on page 14 of the ACT Woolworths Catalogue.

      • Found it! thanks!

  • Hi, just wondering anyone knows if I could use 10% off (wws gives 1 transaction 10% off every month if you hold their insurance) to buy this Apple gift card? Thanks.

    • No, it will appear but if you select it it will use up the 10% off and only apply to the non-gift-card purchases (if any) in your transaction.

  • Hi!

Could someone please explain how the Everyday Rewards redemption works? Online it says 2000 points is equivalent to $10 off so if for example I have 4000 points, will that equate to $20 off your next purchase at Woolworths or $10 off your next two purchases?

Also what does the 'Bank for Christmas' option mean in the app? Does it mean you can redeem AND use all your points in one transaction come December 1?

    Thanks in advance!

    • +4

Every time you earn 2000 Everyday Rewards points (and you have either Money Off Shopping or Bank for Christmas as your redemption option), it will be automatically converted in $10 in Everyday Rewards Dollars. That means that your points balance will decrease, but your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance will increase.

You can redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars at Woolworths (as well as Everyday Market, BIG W, BWS and participating EG locations) to pay for eligible items. There are a small number of scenarios where you cannot redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars, including the purchase of mobile phone recharges, tobacco and some other items. (You can find the full exclusion list in clause 32 of the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions.)

You can only redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars in lots of $10 when you go to pay for your items at the checkout, but you can choose how many lots of $10 you can redeem. For example:

      • If you spend $9.50 on groceries in your next shop at Woolworths, you cannot redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars.

      • If you spend $11 on groceries in your next shop at Woolworths, you can choose to redeem $10 in Everyday Rewards Dollars, or you can choose to not redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars and save it for a future transaction of your choice.

      • If you spend $38 on groceries in your next shop at Woolworths, you can choose to redeem $10, $20 or $30 in Everyday Rewards Dollars, or you can choose to not redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars and save it for a future transaction(s) of your choice.

Bank for Christmas is identical to Money Off Shopping, except it means that your Everyday Rewards Dollars can only be redeemed between December 1 and December 31. You can change between Bank for Christmas and Money Off Shopping at any time; if you switch from Bank for Christmas to Money Off Shopping, your Everyday Rewards Dollars will be immediately available for redemption.

Hot tip: if you change your redemption option to Qantas points, any Everyday Rewards Dollars will be converted into Qantas points at the rate of $10 Everyday Rewards Dollars = 1000 Qantas points, and this is not reversable. You have been warned!

      • Awesome thanks so much for your response! So as I think someone mentioned above, it's safer to switch to 'Bank for Christmas' until you actually want to redeem your points for cash off your purchases? Is that correct? Otherwise what is the benefit of the Bank for Christmas option? Thanks again.

        • +2

The most obvious benefit is that no one can redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars whilst Bank for Christmas is the selected redemption option (assuming it's not December).

There is also the benefit that you can save money throughout the year and then redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars in December to help pay for Christmas and Boxing Day shopping, but I doubt many people actually care about this.

The reason Bank for Christmas is used by some to protect their balances is that there is a concerning number of reports of people having the balances of their Everyday Rewards account drained by seemingly random people. There is no option to set up a PIN or two-factor authentication to allow Everyday Rewards to determine whether the registered cardholder is the person attempting to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars, which is a glaring security issue…

  • Can I buy more apple cards with my Woolies reward dollars? Could be a nice loop😂

    • +1

There is no currently known way of directly using Everyday Rewards Dollars to purchase any gift cards at Woolworths, BIG W, etc.

      • It is against the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions to use Everyday Rewards Dollars to pay for any gift cards.

      • If you scan a gift card (or gift cards) in a transaction (and nothing else) and then go to the payment screen, there will be no option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars.

      • If you scan a gift card (or gift cards) in a transaction alongside at least $10 worth of items that can be paid for using Everyday Rewards Dollars (e.g. groceries) and then go to the payment screen, you should see an option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars, but I think you can only redeem enough Everyday Rewards Dollars to partially or fully cover the cost of the eligible items.

      • There used to be a loophole where if your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance was close to the limit (currently $4,000) and then you purchased a gift card that would earn enough points that would take your balance over the limit, the checkout would automatically redeem enough Everyday Rewards Dollars to fully (or nearly fully) cover the cost of the gift card being purchased. (An OzBargainer actually discovered this loophole last year.) These days, I believe Everyday Rewards have changed their setup so that you do not earn any more points in this situation, or you'll continue to grow your points balance beyond 2,000 points (i.e. Everyday Rewards will stop automatically converting 2,000 points into $10 Everyday Rewards Dollars).

  • Can you buy the gift Apple gift cards in store using woolworths gift cards as payment? Also when u redeem them with apple can the receipt for the product still be claimed on tax since gift cards were used as payment? Thanks

    • Can you buy the gift Apple gift cards in store using woolworths gift cards as payment?

      Nope.

      • If you go to purchase any gift card at Woolworths (or BIG W), go to the payment screen and select Gift Card (or Gift Card (Split Payment)), you’ll get error messages on the EFTPOS terminal as soon as you scan/swipe/enter a gift card.

      • If you go to purchase any gift card at Woolworths (or BIG W) and attempt to use Everyday Pay as a payment method, you’ll get error messages as soon as you go to the payment screen, because Everyday Pay cannot be used to purchase gift cards.

Also when u redeem them with apple can the receipt for the product still be claimed on tax since gift cards were used as payment?

You should be fine, because apparently payments made by gift cards or Apple Account Associated Balance will appear on the tax invoice as a credit card. I don’t have personal experience myself with this though…

  • Is anyone having issues with the number of gift cards redeemable with purchases over $1000 even though the conditions say the limit is 10? Woolworths employees told me they couldn't put the purchase through because they get a call from head office every time they do large transactions like that and they have to sign some sort of form…
