The iPhone 14 models are rumoured to increase by US$100
    https://www.tomsguide.com/news/iphone-14-price-hike-rumor-is…

Also the iPhone 14 non-Pro models will use the same A15 chip that the iPhone 13 uses.
    https://9to5mac.com/2022/03/13/kuo-a16-iphone-14-pro-models/

Therefore these iPhone 13 deals will probably the best iPhone deals for quite a while.

    • Curious to see how they remove the notch from the Pro models. Maybe similar to Galaxy's solution then

    • but what about the cameras?? will they stay the same too?

  • Don't forget OfficeWork 5% price beat.

    • Officeworks can’t price match Telstra deals from what I’ve been told.

      • +4

I got 5% price beat on my iphone 13 on Telstra day, I guess it varies in stores.

        • +1

Yep I got it on iphone12 at the last one

      • depends on your sales assistant if they want to lose their commission or not :P

    • -1

Officeworks prices have now been matched to Telstra so no 5% price beat

      • Doesn't look like it on Officeworks' website

      • +3

OK. My bad. Got confused by a $250 discount on the final pricing on Officeworks.
Anyway, just tried on the phone and price matched not honoured due to "needing a Telstra id to purchase" - seemed wrong but no point arguing

        • Everyone and their mother has a Telstra id or can get one easily.

          • @starbearer: They can always find an excuse if they don’t want to honor it.

  • Good deal if you got the JB GCs at a discount and get JB to price match. That would bring it under $1,000.

  • +1

Do I need to sign up to a plan for this deal?
    And stay connected?

    • No

      • -1

        No to which part.

      • When you add to an Upfront Mobile plan. Offer ends 25 July.

Can anyone confirm if I can cancel plan right away without costing me anything?

        • You just need a Telstra account. You can do this by just buying a $2? Simcard so no need to buy a plan. I went into Chatswood Telstra today and bought 2 iPhones and that's what "THEY" said. They looked up my name and details and I already had an account with them?!?!? so I didn't even need to buy a simcard. I used to have a home phone with them long time ago which I cancelled because of their stuff ups. No idea why they still have my account opened…

          • @Jubei: Yeah i didnt need a plan etc.. already had an account, even if you don't have one they can just make one.

    • +1

Wording on the website suggest you do need to :
      Offer applied
Includes $250.00 discount on the cost of the device.
      Read offer details:

Get $250 off your new Apple iPhone 13
When you add to an Upfront Mobile plan. Offer ends 25 July. 5G rolling out in selected areas on selected plans.

      Min cost: $1099
If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan.

Not sure if you can cancel without paying.

      • Says no lock in contract

    • I went into a Telstra store yesterday and they said as per the terms yes you must get a plan, even for a month. I asked about getting a pre-paid $2 SIM but they said that's excluded. I ended up getting a Pro Max 13 with another SIM for $58 (40GB) and will cancel it before the month ends. There's also a $47 for 2GB.

I was going to go to Big W to get an Apple Gift card with 20x Everyday Rewards points (expires today) but I was already at the Telstra and didn't want to make another trip. Works out similarly.

PS I called JB Hifi beforehand to pricematch and they said no, because you need a plan.

  • +1

Not as good as the Telstra Day prices, but still competitive. JB price matched them last time

Was on call with jb customer support and they said cannot price match as this requires Telstra account to complete the transaction 🤷‍♂️

  • Would the phone be locked to Telstra?

    • +1

No, I bought from them outright and use with Vodafone.

  • +2

    No reduction to the mini!

I guess it’s not being replaced so they’ll keep prices high

    • +1

Who thought small things will last long

  • +3

    JB won’t price match.

    • +1

+1 this - I tried multiple times with JB during the last Telstra sale and had no luck - not sure what other folks said to get a different response

      • would trying in-store and showing them a $2 telstra sim (in the phone) work?

  • +1

A mate bought this from JB last Sunday for $1319 price matched from Big W using the $1200 gift card on the $99 24mo. deal.
    What are their options?

      1. Keep phone. Don't do anything
      2. Ask JB for a credit. Unlikely to match considering posts above.
      3. Return phone and buy from Telstra?
    • Time travel.

    • I’m pretty sure Jb have a price guarantee for 2 weeks and will give you store credit for the difference

Whether or not it applies to this offer is a different story

  • +1

Why is there never a deal on the mini :(

  • +3

office works price match, just brought iPhone 13 128gb 1044$ happy days
    Thanks a lot

    • post receipt

    • In store? Customer service number rejected

    • +1

no success in Brisbane Newmarket store

      • what did they say? reckon going in with a $2 telstra sim in the phone would be enough to convince them?

  • Anyone else found a cheaper than above :P

  • +4

OW not price matching Telstra bc of ‘management decision’

  • +3

OW will not pricematch. Tried 2 different stores and got 2 different excuses. One said it was a coupon offer and the other one said they couldn’t price match due to needing to purchase a plan with the phone, when there is clearly an option to purchase it outright.

Also tried over the phone and they also refused to pricematch because you need a telstra id to login.

    Any other excuses?

    • +4

jb fellow was very descriptive when I asked about the price match. He said the outright condition for telstra states as follows

Get $250 off your new Apple iPhone 13, When you add to an Upfront Mobile plan. Offer ends 25 July. 5G rolling out in selected areas on selected plans.

    • Bought ours from Telstra yesterday.
Went to both OW (Carlton) and JB HIFI (Hurstville)
      Excuse was that:
      - they have been told not to price match anything from Telstra
      - although phone can be purchased outright, phone is locked to Telstra (not true)

Telstra guy activated the phone on a $2 Telstra SIM (he didn't even charge us for it) and we were immediately able to use our Coles SIM, so definitely not locked.

Still a good price so thanks OP.

    In a world that shouldn't have lost the plot on mobile phone prices, shouldn't these be really….. iPhone 13 128GB $399, 256GB $499, 512GB $599, 13 Pro 128GB $699, 256GB $799, 13 Pro Max 128GB $899, 256GB $999 @ Telstra

  • Tempted to upgrade my 13 pro to pro max but worried about the weight. It's even heavier than my previous S20 Ultra which I found super heavy. Rip. Would've love the bigger screen though.

    • +1

Honestly I upgraded from base iphone 11, there is barely any noticeable differences

      • +2

The 13 Pro Max is a monster phone! It’s heavy compared to an 11.

        240g vs 194g

      • i have 11 base, do you mean the weight or features? i know the screen is a big improvement from the ancient 720p on the 11

    • Interesting. Maybe the balance of the components are better in the hand on the iPhone

    • I just moved from a 12 mini to a 13 and find it very heavy, tempted to shift to a 13 mini.

      • I did the same and the difference is more significant than I expected. I used to run with the 12 mini in my pocket and barely noticed it, but I cannot keep the 13 in my pocket when I run as it is too big and heavy. An Apple watch will fix my problem and make things better, but the mini was a great little phone for light users like myself and I feel like I've made an expensive decision that provided a slightly better device, but created problems I didn't expect.

        • Yeah the main reason I ditched the 12 mini was the battery life, supposedly the 13 mini solves most of that problem. I'm giving the 13 a good week or 2 since I only got it yesterday but I'd bet that I end up getting the 13 mini soon.

          • +1

@LanceVance: The 13mini gives less than 1 extra hour of use over the 12 mini. It’s not much of an advantage and with chargers everywhere now and $109 gets you a new battery (free if under 80%) it’s not the deal breaker people make out.

I downsized from the ProMax to the Mini. Loved the big screen, hated the size ti carry as a man.

  • +1

Can I buy this in a Telstra store with a $2 prepaid sim?

    • +2

      yes

      • Did you manage to get it with just a sim?

    • +1

Don't even need a plan or sim, site states you do.
I went in store and bought without signing up to any plans. Just needed a telstra account.

      • @adrian2093 did you already have a plan with Telstra? I went into store and they said must have/buy plan.

        • Nope no plan.
I went in with the full intentions of getting the plan and she said she can do it without… happy days!

    • I went to a Telstra store and they said no, must be a monthly plan (can cancel after one month).

  • +2

I managed to get JB HIFI to price match this Teltra Deal-i have a Telstra Service so they were able to do this with managers approval.

    • +1

      What store and suburb?

      • Bankstown JB-HIFI. Speak to 'Ray' in the mobile department.

  • Price for the Pro 13 shows at 1449?

    • Thanks for pointing out!

  • +8

Just so you are aware guys, I ordered iPhone 13 pro 256gb, Alpine green on Telstra day. The order still showing as on back-order. Called Telstra support. No ETA available. They suggest that the wait might be for another 2 weeks. That being said, you might be getting your iPhone from today delivered in the next month or so, or even longer when the iPhone 14 released lol. Hope this helps some people not to get into the pitfall with these long waits. I'd suggest going to Telstra shop and see what they have in stock to buy outright. Or better price match with JB or OW or else.

    • Thanks. Good to know.

    • Telstra can be inconsistent and different departments can have separate stock. For example, on the most recent Telstra Day, when the normal orders were out of stock for iPhone 13, there were still some stock for Telstra Plus reward store (which you can use points + cash). Obviously, normal order is a bit better in terms of getting a proper invoice whereas the Telstra Plus reward receipt is just an e-mail. Also, if you ended up being on back order for Telstra Plus reward store, the wait could be even longer.

  • Do Good guys price match Telstra?

  • Gees. When did $1800 for a phone become a normal thing. Huge price for a bit of plastic in your pocket although another ozbargain is saving 50c on a packet of noodles..lol

    • Why the surprise? It's been around these prices for years now lol

  • Pulled the pin on this, may the spouse forgive me.

    • I dub thee dead man walking.

      • Was in stock when I pressed "order", a few hours later it turned into "on backorder" so who knows?

  • No love for the mini

  • i went to Telstra Store Brisbane Chermside
they sold the phone with no contract

apparently i also have a valid Boost number which uses Telstra network.
Boost mobile was there in the system

  • "If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan"

Does the "service" include PREPAID sims?

    Thanks all

    • I don’t have a plan, but just the Telstra account. I used to have a Telstra prepaid under this account. After couple of years, I still can log it in, I tried to place an order, proceeded to id check, then credit card payment page. I didn’t make payment today, waiting wife to confirm the colour. I assume that if buy online, you don’t need any Telstra service, just a account. Don’t need to pick mobile plans on the website, just take outright, keep blank for mobile plans, then click next.

      • Thanks for your input @sydracing. I've never had a Telstra service - prepaid, postpaid or otherwise - so I don't have an old Telstra account that I can resurrect. I figured that if I buy a $2 sim in the telstra store, I can say I "already have a service" with Telstra and can therefore buy the handset outright. Wish me luck!

  • Tempted to buy, but did not buy from here in the end, why Telstra needs my driver's license and employment info? so wierd

    • They need that for a plan. Though not sure they would ask it for buying phones outright.

      • They need id information, but not employment for outright purchase

        • they always need more than what they need, and can't keep them safe. too risky!

  • +1

Jb hifi can’t do price match, they said they are waiting for answer from head office, so until future notice, they can’t do it.

But I was able to buy iphone 13 from Telstra online without adding any plan. And we only have Telstra nbn under the account i purchase, so i assuming you can probably purchase even you are not with Telstra, as long as you've got a Telstra account.

    • I tried my old telstra account (with an old/expired Telstra PRepaid) I was able to login and go through with the order.
Not sure if it will go through delivery

  • Side note, anyone upgrading from an android?
Best way to get messages, photos and contacts across?
The apple app on android is trash.

    • I've got everything from my Android backed up on Google. Hoping that transfers across easier, maybe someone else can confirm?

I'll update you if it's successful or not.

    • There's a Transfer to iOS app on Google Playstore that lets you transfer everything across while you setup the iPhone. Worked like a charm for me except for Whatsapp which they announced a new transfer update today.

      • +1 the "Move to iOS" android app worked pretty well for me. Only thing that didn't go so smooth was Whatsapp - had a ton of images from Whatsapp chats that appear to have been duplicated into my camera roll. Just takes a while to manually clean it all up. But the important stuff (chat history, photos/videos) all made it across.

        • Messages won't transfer properly for me.
Only does all the sent messages not received.
And photos and missed around 100 photos.

  • +1

JB Hi-Fi price matched in store. I do have a Telstra ID but I wanted to buy the phone for my wife and invoiced in her name because her company reimburses the amount. Went to a Telstra store and they did try to add her to my account and so on but there were issues. After genuinely trying a few things, we left. Casually walked into a JB store in the same mall to ask if they can price match expecting that they would say no. They said 'yes' though and completed the transaction after verifying that I have a Telstra account.

    • Which mall was that?

      • +1

        Westfield Airport West

  • Confirming that I have been able to pick it up from Telstra store without signing up for a plan. I did not have a Telstra account.

  • +1

Price matched at JB Top Ryde if you are in NSW and looking to burn your JB vouchers, not even check if I have Telstra account etc. :)

    • Thanks. Just got one from the store too. No hassles

  • I just price matched at Officeworks in Geelong got iPhone 13 pro max 128gb for $1519
