If it helped someone, what's it to you?

  • -5

I just refreshed Ozbargain and OOS?! Probably not worth posting

    • +8

I you'd never refreshed they'd still be available

  • I wonder if an updated version of Series X will be out soon or not?

    • +11

Why spend money on R&D when you can still sell this at RRP 2 years on? /s

      • +1

Selling this on RRP for 2 years and more … Yes unfortunately you are right about this however R&D never stops. Even if they don't publish a new version they keep working on it. Otherwise competitors will beat them.

Having said that, considering they are still able to sell it at RRP, looks like they will take their time for a new model.

        • +2

          Hence the /s

      • Because if they can fabricate it cheaper they either make more money or lose less (Probably make more, hardware was traditionally a loss leader but surely not at $750)

        • +4

$750 for this hardware is an awesome price, you couldn't do it with PC components.
There won't be an upgraded model for at least a year or 2 I reckon.

          • -2

@Spendmore: You could. 2070 super plus worst mobo, psu, memory and storage is what an xbox is. The Xbox merely performs better because it's not a pc.

They'll do an upgrade as soon as they can to increase profitability and deliver a political blow to Sony. Except they might time it with xmas. 1-2 years does sound reasonable to me (xmas 2023?)

            • -1

@justtoreply: Have you seen the price of a 2070 super?
Add PSU, case, fans, controller, ram….no way is it possible.

            • +1

              No. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcZcgW1RfGw

        • a loss leader but surely not at $750

Of course it's sold at a loss. MS has never made a profit from console sales for any generation.

          https://www.eurogamer.net/microsoft-confirms-its-never-made-…

          • -1

@PainToad: Everyone is focusing on minutae. If MS can reduce losses or make it cheaper to get market share (then make money on software).. Well of course they will!

            • -1

              @justtoreply: "If"

You can apply an if to anything. AMD and Microsoft themselves have stated the situation isn't going to change any time to have a more performant console any time soon. Microsoft gave a two tier performance system at the start to compensate for the lack of progress in consoles at a certain price.

    • Not.

  • Isn't the minimum quantity 10 to post?

    • +15

Amazon doesn’t always show stock levels. When I first saw the link there wasn’t anything indicating stock. Second time I clicked after posting it showed 4 left in stock

      • +3

        Fair enough!

  • Gone in 30 seconds.

  • +17

Microsoft deal is much better as it comes in stock almost every month. Buy GC from SB at 10%

    • +23

Yeah this nonsense needs to stop. Stock levels have improved. Scalping for Series X is dead. RRP is no longer a bargain.

Wait a few weeks and get it direct from MS for 10% below RRP.

    • +1

Is that why you didn’t respond to any comment pointing out the same on your post?

      The irony though.

      • -4

Good research, Stock levels were different few months ago, also EB games have 6% GC CB options, Trade ins, and membership points benefits compare to just buying off simply from Amazon. it depends on person to person.

        • +5

Still not in stock at Microsoft. So I wouldn’t be complaining about the price of an item that is in stock comparing to the one that is not. Especially if I posted the same myself.

I don’t give a hoot about the neg but I have always been and will be against double standards. Whether on my post or anyone else’s.

  • Seems to still be in stock?

  • +1

Plenty of stock at Costco Ipswich this Monday.

  • still says 5 in stock

  • +2

There was a pellet load of them at Costco Ringwood yesterday

    • +1

Is a pellet of Xboxes a small amount?

  • -4

You don't really need a Xbox to play xbox games. you can get a Samsung smart tv (with game pass and controller) to do it now.

Streaming isn't close to the native experience yet. Even if you have great internet it's still not the same.

      • +1

if you have crappy ping and internet it isn't have you used nvidia geforce now? it has servers in Sydney. I can't tell the difference between my PC fps and geforce now on alot of games. But I also have a 250mbps fiber internet connection so I don't have any issues.

        • Do you play competitive shooters? Can you stream at more than 60 FPS?

          • @reloxation: yes Nvidia geforce now supports 120fps now. providing you have the display that supports it and you have a solid internet connection. Nothing below 100mbps link speed, sucks if your unlucky and have NBN with HFC or FTTN.

            • @kungfuman: I was getting all of my 250mbps NBN plan on HFC while I had a discounted price for it.

              • @Domingo: I get 250mbps downloads and 100mbps uploads FTTP constant connection at max speed all the times 24/7. no peak or off peak.

                • @kungfuman: I was paying for 250/25 and was getting 250/25 at all times 24/7, no peak or off peak.

I downgraded to a 100/20 plan after my promotional price on the 250 finished up because I didn't really need it.

            • @kungfuman: Ah dope, didn't know that. How much do you pay for it?

              • @reloxation: for geforce now?

                  • @reloxation: there is the "free" plan which won't get you high frame rates but it will give you a chance to test it out. and there is the 20 dollar AUD plan per month which gives you everything.

            • @kungfuman: I have HFC and got around 900mbps when Optus gave everyone a free speed boost for 6mths.

          • @reloxation: High FPS doesn’t mean low input lag.

I’ve got 100mbps FTTP and the input lag is okish but noticeable and I certainly wouldn’t want to play competitive shooters with it.

Might be ok for very casual gamers or kids.

            Brought a Series X.

            • +5

@PainToad: Where did you bring it?

            • @PainToad: the servers are in sydney unless you live in WA your ping (lantency) is going to be good.

              • +7

                @kungfuman: Streaming:
Press button -> Local device receives -> local device to your router -> Your ISP -> MS data centre network -> Xbox in data centre receives input -> Game processes input and renders new frame -> Console video frame output is encoded -> MS data centre network -> Your ISP -> router to your local device -> Local device processes new video frame -> TV displays frame.

                Compared to:
Press button -> Xbox receives input -> Game processes input and renders new frame -> TV displays frame.

                I know which I'd rather.

Streaming is amazing and come along way. But latency is not "good".

                • +1

                  @PainToad: Well said.

        • +1

I thought cloud gaming has a long way to go. I only tried xbox cloud gaming and the experience is terrible. Image is too blurry which makes FPS not relevant. Latency is huge so it is only suitable for lightweight single player non-action games. No experience on the Nvidia one so can not comment on the image quility. But based on most Youtube reviews the main bottleneck for cloud gaming(including the nvidia one) remains latency,

          • +2

            @lrq663611: It does.
You would have to be daft to think it's the same as having a console.

    • I wish they make an app for LG…

  • +1

    Back in stock

  • -2

1 left hurry up. I already have one so don't need it.

    • How do you know there's 1 left? It says in stock.

      • +2

When I clicked earlier it said 1 left. They must have updated their backend inventory.

  • +2

Still in stock for me with no indication of stock level

  • +9

Why does it say the console was $949 and we're saving 21%? Amazon are full of shit.

    • +2

Probably previous third party seller price. Amazon don't inflate rrp pricing

      • +2

Yep, clicked on details and they go by whatever price a recent item was sold for. How misleading.

  • RRP is not a bargain, sorry.

    • +9

I refer to the third comment by 2pro4sho.
"If it helped someone, what's it to you?".

      • -1

“If it’s actually a rubbish offering, and you can help someone, say something” is another one I like to refer to.

    • Yeah, nah. RRP is a bargain when the usual price is higher.

  • Showing out of stock now, placed my order about 10 minutes ago when it said "In stock", will be interested to see if it actually ships.

    • Amazon's inventory is accurate.
I don't believe they cancel orders.

  • -1

    OOS again

  • +4

People whinge is RRP but it sells out immediately anyway lmao

  • For what it's worth, if anyone is still interested, it seems to drop in and out of stock - sometimes shows unavailable, sometimes shows "Show buying options" which lets you add it to the cart.

  • +2

Amazon is up there amongst the most honest sellers. None of that dodgy Gamesmen crap.
