Keep dreaming. You can say that when the local retailers actually have stock. No evidence for that, and EB seemingly restock once a month at best, with likely 90% snapped up by resellers. With the new lockdowns in China and elsewhere, expect new bottlenecks in the supply line. Could lead to stock issues far worse than that experienced anytime over last two years.
Anybody that actually wanted one of these would have brought one by now there's been heaps of releases. I waited it out until I could get one directly from Microsoft for under 650 recently
It was never available from Microsoft for $650. Ever. I assume you used a voucher, or third-party cash back offer of some sort, to push the price that low. Nothing change the fact that future supply looks very bleak due to recent China lockdowns.

Im thinking about subbing just because of this as I play PC(s) and Console(s) both ps4 and xbox one. Seems a no brainer for when I eventually buy a next gen.
I must say their subscription service is spot on in terms of the games available and also able to play on PC, I have a PS5 and it's disappointing it doesn't come close !

At one of the local Pawn shops, they have heaps of these in their front display for $1,200 in USED condition. Used PS5's are $1,500.
And every one of them is stolen goods. Because no frickin way is someone dumb enough to sell for $600 to a pawn shop when they're gone so quickly for more on marketplace/gumtree

None. Global logistics still messy and Japan recently had Golden Week holidays which won't have helped.
Called around all day yesterday trying to find an XSX in stock for a walk in. Good guys Auburn had 1 or 2 left when I left. Most places such as JB, EB Games make put you on a waitlist or make you preorder. Good guys never puts the Xbox on its website and has no waitlists or preorders, so they're your best bet for securing a walk-in Xbox. They just get the stock and sell it in store. Worth giving the Good Guys in your area a call every so often.
Sounds like a lottery to me, and you already mentioned stock is extremely low. Then factor in the new supply issues caused by the current China lockdown, and you’re got a recipe for stock outages extending months. This could be the last lot EB release for a long while. I recommend buying whilst you can.
Once the delicious "Trade deal" finished, I knew they'd introduce the Xbox Series X or PS5 preorder availability… cheeky bastards. Grabbed an Xbox Series S instead, and runs really nice on my 1080p projector. Was hoping to future proof with the X, but oh well… paid for a bunch of ultimate game pass with the remaining funds from the trade-in, ie. 2 x PS4 Pros.
I went in with a PS4 slim for the same recent trade in deal they only had the Series S in stock I was asking if there was any way I could get the Series X and the worker was kind enough to reveal a loophole from which I dived into immediately lol I placed a pre order for a game that gets released in 6 months and now the series X is taking pre order I put down my deposit once the console is in stock head in store cancel my pre ordered game and put the credit towards the series X afterpay the rest and Bob's your auntie .

I was going to do this, but jumped on EB instead.
6% off through Suncorp instead of $10 Shopback, but no waiting for the Suncorp discount to come through and the Microsoft restocks seem to be about once a month.
Is the extra time and effort worth the $55 saving? Maybe, but I decided this was good enough considering I just got $500+ for trading stuff in at EB.
And don't forget there is 1.5% cashback on shopback too for Microsoft and the $20 bonus challenge

I have been asking PS5 users I know if I should get one then they list a handfull of games as reason why, half of which were on PS4. I can't say which is better until I get a PS5 but I will say the XSX is very good, quick resume..back into a game in 3 seconds is great and worth it just for that….no need to even mention gamepads.

Yah. Traded the one X in so got it for $499 I think.
Play NBA 2k and FIFA and both games have made no significant improvements for next gen so stopped buying them. 20 year vet. First year I've dodged them. Hopefully starfield is legit and the LOTR game.
The next gen version of NBA2K just got added to game pass if that's something you're interested in.

I was literally in there about 30 mins ago and asked the girl at the counter if I could go on a notification list for when pre-orders come up of if pre-orders were currently open and she said "no, we don't take names and there is no pre-order available at this moment." They seriously dont know their arses from their elbows.

The real question is, why didn't you check their website to see if it's in stock?
A: I am sure it would have been in the pre-work store open notes/emails if they were going to have pre-orders open for such a high demand item and have people coming in and asking about it.
B: Because it was a spur of the moment, just happen to be walking past and thought I would ask. Didn't know it was a requirement to check their website out before entering the store.

If by "smooth" you actually mean lower FPS, that generally shouldn't be the case as the Series X is more powerful. Unless the specific game is targeting a higher resolution than the PS5 version. In which case have you checked for a Performance/60fps/120fps/VRR option? I'm guessing not.
Well, I only received it for few days and only play FIFA 22 & Halo, on default settings so far. Nothing requires serious performance. The fan was going like it's going to explode soon and Xbox actually turned itself off once… Both games got jerky quite a few times.
Location of the Xbox is the same place where I placed the PS5 last time, and didn't hear a sound out of the PS5.

@WwDesi: Your personal experience doesn't reflect the overall experience of users at all. The series X is quiet and I mean very very very quiet. I don't think anybody should be talking about frames per second unless they actually have the hardware and the ability to test both.

@ktks: It is. And from all the information I know it's quieter than a PS5. PlayStation don't know how to design thermal efficient consoles and they haven't for quite awhile

I've had my Series X since launch and it's always been dead silent. The only loud thing is the extra clicky D-pad.

It does make sense, get one of these and a laptop for less than the price of a GPU. I know many changed ships, but didnt expect this level of shortage after a year and a half.
