    • no more jabs for the flight

    • A well informed post by a seasoned traveler. Thank you very much for the insight, your words of wisdom have benefited many.

Nah - just got back a few days ago, its all systems go over there, everything is 100% operational - but you do need to meet certain vaccination requirements and wear a mask to most places.

and wear a mask to most places.

Even Orchard Towers? Asking for a friend….

        • Just got back yesterday, everything is open but masks are required for all indoor settings, shopping centres and restaurants etc, and MRT and taxis. Most people voluntarily wearing outdoors as well. Orchard road is busy with many people out and about shopping and eating.

Love the photo. Cos the kind of person who buys flights from OzBargain is totally gonna stay at Marina Bay Sands 8)

    • +3

um… is now the wrong time to put my hand up.

    • +2

you look down Ozbargain as cheap site…I bought mine scoot ticket from here and I stayed at Marina Bay.

    • +4

the kind of person who buys flights from OzBargain is totally gonna stay at Marina Bay Sands

I'm that kind of person. I simply don't see any value in spending thousands extra on an 8 hour flight, especially when you still end up tired and cranky anyway, when those same thousands buy you an entire week at a very nice hotel.

      • I've also stayed at MBS and flown cheap airlines. I only fly Qantas now because of status - the lounge at Sydney is really good and I look forward to going, a great way to start a trip. If I didn't have status with Qantas (and a bucketload of points), there is no way I would pay the extra, I'd just fly the cheapest.

    • I thinking people are hunting for bargain for the same quality life(products), NOT simply cheap.

  • Is it possible to change the return location? ie. Fly out Melbourne and return Perth?

  • +1

@OP, do you think Qantas will do something soon to compete? Can't bare to fly on other airlines when I have status with Qantas but this price point is very good.

    • Yeah in the same boat but man, $870 for Mel <> HCM over the luna new year period with SG Airlines is kinda hard to pass up hey

    • +2

Just status match to one of the Singapore Airlines partners. Qantas are cooked anyway.

I travelled this year and it was awesome

        • +7

I don't know what's delusional about going on a trip and enjoying it. Just sharing my experience.

            • +3

@kungfuman: I'm with fivespice on this.

I just returned from Sinapore on the weekend, the only difference I experienced now compared to pre-pandemic was having to upload my covid vaccine certification prior to travel, and then wear a mask. It was simple.

And I've travelled internationally enough in the past that I once had to renew my passport a few years before it expired because I ran out of pages for stamps.

There are certainly issues being experienced in some airports, but between Perth and Singapore.

@tomlikesbeetroot: I for one would never class a "vaccine certificate, and a mask" as simple, you still need to get that certificate if your not vaccined. So its not a simple process for alot of people that can't get the vax due to medical complications. You can not compare the experience we have today for traveling as "simple" compared to before 2020. Before the pandemic it was easy. Now its just painful and not worth it. A few good experiences from some people doesn't equate to the large majority of people that do not.

                • @kungfuman: I've done 3 overseas trips in the past few months - all were amazing….only downside was the 30 seconds it took to download my Vaccine certificate, nearly ruined the trip. Sheesh.

                  • -5

@dahax77: maybe you should learn to read the comment, an unvaccinated person won't have the 30 seconds and won't have a certificate to begin with. unless I see 1000s of people here right now saying they had a good experience statistics don't lie, all I see is 5 or 6 vs 1000s of people with bad experiences. The problem is people don't like to hear the truth of a situation they would rather that you lie to them and tell them everything is ok. Alright I will say just that, everything is ok. You won't die or have any kind of a bad experience, here is proof 5 people in a forum have told you so.. So it must be fine.

                    • @kungfuman: Nice rant mate - everyones downvoting you - maybe you should learn to read the room.

                      • @dahax77: 4 people isn't everyone. So…… I dont' see 100s of devotes. And like a said people don't like truth they would rather be lied to.

                        • @kungfuman: Well it's actually 37 downvotes so far…..anyway i'm tapping out of this one.

                          • @dahax77: nope definatlly just 4 on that comment so……

            • @kungfuman: On both flight to and from Singapore I was given a row to myself which I enjoyed

    • +2

I travelled this. AMA lol. It’s better to travel now, way less people.

      • if only the airports shared your wisdom.

  • Thanks op

  • Why no dates in December or January?

    • +1

peak time. public / school holidays.

  • I wanted to travel in October for Dota 2 TI11 finals. Looks like Scoot is the best option for now. I saw fares for SA but it seems that it is operated by Scoot and the price is double than that of Scoot.

The only problem is, buying tix for the event will be close to a lottery since ALOT of people will be trying to buy it because of the event being in SG.

    • Secure tickets to TI first

  • Singapore return to Darwin used to be like $180 jet star

    • +5

many things used to be a lot different before.

      • They will be again its just jet star has cancelled this leg for a bit

      • plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

  • Any cheap return flights from Singapore to mainland Europe?

  • Looks like the sale seats for SYD-SIN for the end of November are gone, back to the regular $1140 (or codeshare with Scoot for $804). I don't book international holidays often enough to know, do the cheap economy seats ever come back once they're gone or I just have to suck it up with the full fare?
