Just received an email about this offer. Seems to be a good deal to me. e.g if you get $79 plan and keep it for 3 months, you will get $120 flybuys dollars. So monthly cost of the 50Mbps plan will be just $39
Note: New services only, excludes recontracts

Update: just noticed that there is no option to buy plan without the modem they are providing for $7/month and if you terminate the plan after 3 months, you will be charged $7x33 = 231. Modem is free if you continue with the plan for 36 months.

    Optus customer here for 5 years. Was paying $85 a month for essentially the same service as the $79 plan. When I asked for my current plan to be discounted to the current $79 plan, they suggested I switch but that meant locking me in for 36 months or pay the penalty for the modem. I threatened to leave if that were the case and after being transferred several times, I ended up getting switched but without having a new modem.

  seems like there is a modem charge of $7/month if you cancel before 36 months. So if you cancel after 3 months, you will be charged $7x33 for the modem

    The whole point of NBN was to come and go as you please and do away with contracts. It is a sham, especially if you have your own modem already. Environmentally irresponsible and unethical.

  Is Optus modem worth $250? Actually if you terminate the plan after 3 months, you will pay $115/month for the 50Mbps plan and get a free modem. Am I right?
