For people who love lower prices on already inflated cards can we get the price matched $1799?

    • any deals on intel cpu motherboard bundle? also 3070/3070Ti?
      Thanks

      • Currently I can't see any chance to make those happen :(

    • This is a monster card!

  • god damn

  • +7

Those hodl bros are starting to make sense. Annoying but eeeeppp

      • +1

        I don't think many people got the 3090 day 1 …

      • +13

the non hodl bros already mined 3090 since day 1 and got their money back and then most lost it in the crash ;)

          • +10

@[Deactivated]: I didnt neg you but I am assuming if rich intelligent stock traders lost it, most miners would have too. hence the hesitation to sell the cards for cheaper price.

    • The non hodl bros all sold there cards at a loss on gumtree

      • non hold mining bros.

      • Nope just mined to pay it off with the full hash rate 😏

    • -1

Holding has opportunity cost. I bought mine for $3400. Mined at least $1000 out of it. And played shit load of games in hi-res. And I'm happy about my decision. :)

  • +5

    6900XT better deal

    • That $1k deal was nuts

    • -3

      What am I missing? A 3080 outperforms a 6900xt and are ~$70 more

    • depends if you want rtx/play at 4k

    • because it runs inferior tech

  • +6

Hodor until we get prices that the US are getting. Even then I might not bite

    • +5

This is better than US pricing considering it includes GST. This card is currently going for US$1290 at BestBuy and US$1270 on Newegg.

  • +8

I think I'd rather save $1k and get the 6800XT.. Theres a huge difference in pricing between AMD and Nvidia!

    • +5

This card with 24Gigs helps other segments more than gaming segments. Probably not right to compare.

      • +3

Yep for certain procutivity workloads, but that's a small subset of users and nvidia is better in that field regardless…

    • +5

For pure gaming just can't beat the current value of AMD lineup. Though the 3090 is a good card for people who work with software accelerated by CUDA, and the VRAM helps with video editing with tons of effects. Waiting for prices to drop near 1.5k so I can buy one for my sis, an architect on a 1080Ti, should be a good upgrade for her.

  • +1

Wow how the mighty have fallen - semi-practical pricing is almost here.

  • +1

Yeah nah 4070 will be better for half the price

    • +23

HODL for 5070. Will destroy the 4070

      • +5

HODL for 6060, will destroy the 5070

      • +4

There is a difference between few months and few years.

        • -7

HODL for 9090, the latest before 10k series lol

        • 4070 is not expected to be released this year, so still quite a bit of waiting.

          • @DmytroP: 7700XT should be about the same with better RT and hardware FSR 3.0

          • @DmytroP: You probably can get 4090 within next few months with similar price tag as the 3090…Why wasting money on something that will lose value very soon…

            • +1

@pq8382: I'm waiting for 4090 myself, but the price is expected to be higher compared to 3090 launch price, so I'd expect something in $3-4k range. If VRAM is important for you and you need the card now (using for rendering, machine learning etc), $1800 for 3090 is not necessarily the worst choice.

              • @DmytroP: If nvidia is not insane then the price for 4090 will be at least same as 3090 launch price. There is huge stock of 30 series in current market due to the collapse of crypto.

                • +1

@pq8382: They will probably introduce 4090 at higher price and not reduce 3xxx price for sometime till stocks are cleared. 4080 and 4070 are coming later. Unless AMD 7XXX come sooner, but they probably wont. I cannot expect anything less from ngreedia

                  • +1

@John Doh: The 30 seris stock is pretty much at insane number where they have no chance to clear it with high price. If Nvidia choose to not lower 30 series price and increase 40s, I can see their stock gonna drop like skydiving.

                    • @pq8382: The problem is large retailers paid a lot more for the stock they recieved. The entire supply chain has made enough profits. Now they find it hard to sell at lower price. Unlike bpctech larger retailer will have larger stocks to clear. Thats my understanding and I may be wrong.

    • That’s a paradox, cause the next gen will be the same

    • NVidia have been saying they'll want US$600 for the 4070, but in the current market they will be lucky to even out at US$500 (particularly since AMD are considered to have the stronger cards).

The 4070 is at the 3090/3090Ti level.

So the natural price for this card over the next six months is approx US$500-600 x 1.44 x 1.1 = AU$800-950 (inc GST)

These cards have a LONG way still to fall.

  • I have a feeling miners stopped buying these due to crypto bear run. Hence this price

    • +25

      Sherlock, is that you?

  • +7

Be aware, nvidia just lowered the RRP, so these prices are going to be around for a while:

    https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-geforce-rtx-30-pric…

    USD:
Model Original MSRP New MSRP Difference
    RTX 3090 Ti $1999 $1499 $500
    RTX 3090 $1499 $1299 $200
    RTX 3080 Ti $1199 $1099 $100

    • So soon enough 1799 should be obtainable for the 3090ti

  • +4

If you need a new GPU AND the absolute best performance for the next few a months, go for it. Else, you're getting absolutely grifted by Nvidia and retailers buying at this price. 4080 will launch less than $1200 RRP and offer better performance. Current Nvidia GPU pricing is an insult

  • +2

Man I paid $1699 for my 3080, but that was 2 years ago and enjoyed every moment of it. My body is ready for 4000 series….

    • -8

you could have made $3k profit from mining past 2 years if you sold eth at the peak.

      • +1

Yeah I know, coulda have but it is what it is.

      • +9

If you know exactly when the peak is, you don't even need to mine.

      • Do keep in mind he would need to declare capital gains. So, not as high a gain as you may think unless he is also claiming the GPU as the cost for generating this income.

    • +2

2 years ago made sense, not anymore.

    • +1

Your body maybe ready but is your bank account balance :P

    • i paid 1139 for my 3080 in September 2020 so whats your point?

  • +8

damn, paid like $1k more on its release day.

Beware though, this is the cheaper/low tier MSI card. The stock thermal compound and pads that it comes with is attrociously bad. Took my card apart after 1yr, replaced the compound with noctua NT-H1 and changed out the crusty pads with thermal grizzly 2mm thickness top and bottom. Saw easily 9c drop in temp under load and much lower fan rpm and noise.

    • +3

Crazy that manufacturers would try save a few dollars on cheap thermal paste and pads on a high end model at this price. It would be like selling a sports car with the cheapest tyres

  • Did you pay real money for that profile picture?

    • +2

Fun fact - That ape sold yesterday for 94eth. Interested to know OPs attachment to it too.

      • it's hard to understand why anyone could have an attachment to such a terrible looking picture. Interesting fact though

        • +1

especially when theres recent allegations of BAYC/Yuga Labs with ties to nazi, racism and white supremacy

          • @AssBargain: I love how they backtrack on their little insider jokes when it isn't really that insider.

  • Thanks OP - Might get one.. Why is this so cheap??

    • +5

Because your comparing it in your mind to the past inflated prices.

  • Top price!

  • Price isn't bad considering this card is on special in the USA for 999 USD.

  • Thanks i grabbed one.

This card will help me mine Eth and that will help me get a house deposit.

    • lol, sure it will.

  • I would have bought the white ROG Strix 3090, but my 3090 AORUS Master should last me another year or two in which the 40 series cards will be cheaper :P

  • Highly debating on buying the 3090 ROG STRIX but I fell like price are going to drop more should we still HODL?!

  • +1

I would snag this unless you already have a 3000 series card. I really doubt Nvidia will flood the market with 4090 (they did delay it and trying to get out of the FAB deal they made thinking the crypto craze will still be on). Even with my 3080 and mined for 10 months, not worth getting as it is already good enough to game on most 4K titles with DLSS.
