Don’t use UserBenchmark. They skew their scores very heavily towards singlethreaded performance and have been known to exhibit strong biases against AMD.

There is no easy comparison that can be summarised with one number - best thing you can do is look at a reputable reviewer (e.g. Gamers Nexus or HardwareUnboxed) and try to make a decision for yourself based on your needs.

The amount of times people still reference userbenchmark…

    • Very biased towards Intel and against AMD, if you absolutely must look at their nonsense, there is a smidge of useful information in the "64 core OC Multi Core Mixed Speed" where in this case by their own benchmarks the 5700x is 4.28 (1721/402) times the performance of an i5 6500 and take that with a grain of salt as it's probably more.
I only do this to compare new CPUs that haven't been listed anywhere else and only within the same brand, eg Intel vs Intel or AMD vs AMD

    • Woeful . I just checked my first gen Ryzen 1700x and that scores 70 compared to 53 of the 5700x against the I5 6500 .
That just seems utterly broken .

Personally I find passmark to be an acceptable "single value" comparison - as limited value as a single score is.

      The 6500 gets about 6k/2k (multi/single) , the 5700x about 27k/3.3k

So at you'd expect after 7 years, it's "a lot faster", how much faster depends exactly on what you're doing. Maybe 2x, maybe 10x, but just a lot faster.

It's a tragedy that UserBenchmark has such good SEO. Take a look at their twitter it's pretty funny.

      • Kind of wish groups with a full time job reviewing this stuff would come up with ways to make it easier for the passing consumer to compare across brands and generations. Then they might have a chance against UserBenchmark's SEO putting them on the top of every comparison query I make. Something like rting's comparisons wouldn't be a bad step forward.

        • Revenue from ads on web pages is very low, so it's hard to justify maintaining such a tool if you're actually committed to using good data. The people with the skills to do so are better off doing something like making YouTube videos. I think LTT labs is aiming to do stuff like this though.

look for reviews on the cpu itself, anandtech, techpowerup or gamers nexus, they usually have benchmarks in them.

  • Do you guy buy CPU with the heatsink or without?
any recommendation on a third party heatsink that wont break the bank?

Depends on the build. If you don't care about noise or temps, then stock coolers are surprisingly decent especially with AMD's lower TDP range. If you want to go silent, keep temps down, upgrade down the road, overclock, etc; then it's been impossible to go wrong with a Noctua for the past 15+ years. Other things to consider are your case's existing airflow and physical space/clearance. A good AM4 cooler will also be compatible with AM5, so even if it's a bit of an investment now it'll still be useful if you upgrade to a new socket or more demanding CPU in the future. For all higher end and personal builds I use third party coolers (nearly always Noctua), for budget focused builds that are mostly used for gaming/office I'll often just use the stock cooler if the CPU bundle is roughly the same price as it is without the cooler (when available).

      • Hey thanks for this,
can you recommend the exact Noctua model for NZXT H510 case?
