Yep, I just got a price beat 10 mins ago at OW. Paid $200.50

      • hi
May I ask How did u get price matched in ow?

        • +1

Just walk in and show them the website on your smart phone or printout so they can verify with their back office computer for the stock level, pricing and shipping etc and come back to tell you "yes, it is now $$$$ after the price beat".

        • thanks for that. wasnt sure they would price match online retailer

        • They usually dont, and its not really a price beat (still a way better deal obviously).

Just go in store and be all like "this is much cheaper online, just wondering what the best price you can give me". If they give you anything less than $200.50, keep haggling

        • urgh, damn double post.

        • they usually do but they include shipping cost and make sure its a legit seller and there are stock.

        • They clearly told me they do price match .com.au online store.

  • Ramos dual core down to $135!

    http://www.androidinabox.com/ramos-w17-pro-android-tablets-p…

    Is the toshiba $70 better?

    • GPS, Bluetooth and HDMI out included in the Toshiba…

    • +18

The differences between toshiba with ramos
      Screen Res = Toshiba (1280x800) - Ramos (1024x600)
Display = Toshiba (IPS) - Ramos (non IPS)
Bluetooh = Toshiba (yes A2DP) - Ramos (no)
GPS = Toshiba (yes) - Ramos (no)
HDMI output = Toshiba (yes) - Ramos (no)
      Camera = Toshiba (rear 5MP, front 2MP ) - Ramos (just front 1.3MP)
Correct me if I'm wrong with those specs.

IMHO, I think yes, it's worth it.

      • -4

I don't think the toshiba has gps. Also obviously shoppingexpress is Australian seller and the other is not.

        but a nice summary, thanks!

      • Read through Ramos specs on the link and it shows 0.3MP front camera..so not 1.3.

Either way the Toshiba is 100% worth the extra $70.

    • wouldn't trust any "unknown" brands from my previous lesson.

      • whether or not Ramos is an “unknown" brand totally depends on how much you know.

    • My Jaw is stuck in awe right now…, Awesome Price for a Great product !,
but my 10.1" seems small already and going for a 7" would be worse for me… lol

  • How this compare to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch ?

  • +1

I think it's a good price for a branded tablet. I wonder if it's upgradable to ICS. Anyone know?

    • I'm trying to find out as well. Couldn't find much in Google.

    • i considered this before but after speaking to a tech at Toshiba i got the feeling they are dragging their feet on ICS update and didn't get it, IMHO chances are it won't get ICS well officially anyway, someone somewhere probably has hacked the tablet with ICS!

      • +2

No official OS updates after only 5 months. Yep, welcome to the world of Android.

        • more like world of toshiba…if only these companies used stock android, we wouldn't have a problem with fragmentation

  • What really puts me off is that it doesn't seem to have usb power/data combined in one cord. So you can either charge or transfer data when plugged into a computer. How did they miss that one?

    • +1

most tablets dont have this option.. ive had a xoom and also an a200.. and none of them charge through a usb port.. I believe it would just take way to long to charger through a usb port

    • The manual says it can be charged via USB (prefers off or on standby - otherwise it will probably take the whole day!)
The included AC adapter (with proprietary cable) is 2A so obviously it's better to use that, but it's great to have both options.

  • +1

Finally a reputable 7 inch Android tablet at a bargain price. Seriously good value for this Toshiba. I am very tempted even though I already have a Galaxy Note and several (highly restrictive) iPads.

    • I'm tempted too. But when you consider… is it worth half a gnote? The answer is no. The reason I got the gnote is so that I can use it as a tablet replacement, and it's doing that job so damn well right now. Will consider a 7"er when they are 1080p.

But for anyone looking for a tablet, I reckon this one is hard to beat for sure. I'm still tempted, just not sure when I'd use it is all.

      • +4

1080p on a 7" screen? Bit of a waste if you ask me…

      • +1

Yeah. I am sort of expecting the Galaxy Note 2 to have 1080p and that would probably be 5.3" again. Obviously a 7 and 10 inch should have it.

  • Can this be upgraded to ICS?

  • +6

yeah, eat that Mr Kogan, Tegra2 for $200 is an absolute steal.

  • +1

Funny the rep advertised it as a toy for the kids. But I do agree it is cheap compared to $400-$500 smart phones or iPads when this can keep them happy without playing and draining all your phone battery within a few hours.

    • +1

Yup, this is smaller than the heavy 10.1" tab while bigger than most smartphones. In addition, even though nowadays most kids are "touchscreen" veterans, you still put yourself at risk of losing your contacts and stuffs and getting them back from backup (for your smartphone) as oppose to this.

  • -2

is this getting long in tooth?

im see kids at uni with tablets for reading lecture pdf/ppt slides.

ive seen a lot of sheety tablets is all.

    hold out?

      • +4

Long in tooth means it's getting old.

        • Owh cool. Now I sound silly.. Lol.

In that case I don't think so..considering it's Tegra 2? Very decent specs and at a very good price. Either way Technology will always get "old" as updated tech get released so often….so if the specs are enough for your needs and it's at a good price…you probably should go for it.

  • Actually need to ask for some OZB advise.. Would this be overkill if used purely for looking at pictures and some light reading? Maybe skype at times…

    • I think the resolution and performance would be a blessing when doing the basic stuff. I mean waht are your options for 200$?

      • could save up a few more weeks/months and pay ~70$ more for the TF101 found on gumtree

        • TF101 is 10" tough? I actually need a 7" one with reasonable battery life. Its for an elderly lady.

  • +1

I just got one for officeworks with a pricematch. $199.50.

Not much in accessories out there for this device, and while ICS is supposedly coming (Thrive 7 in the US), there isn't anything currently available.

    • wth…I paid $200.50 after adding the shipping fee and 5% price beat! Just get a kindle reader folio and any 7" screen protector if that is what you meant by accessories. I heard Toshiba is a slacker on updating firmware, I doubt there will be one soon.

      • +3

lol .. a true Ozbargainer, getting annoyed about being ripped off by $1 :D

      • +4

I got mine for $189 at OW Adelaide St Brisbane. The guy misread the printout and was originally going to beat $99 (not $199) by 5%, but I set him straight for some bizarre reason.

        • +6

          You what!?
This site is clearly not for you, hand over you bargain dogtags and go home son.

          lol

        • He should've also added shipping fee before price beat.

        • +1

Yeah you should have bought it at $94.05 and upload your receipt so we can bring it to OW to price match.

        • +2

Momentary lapses such as this can befall us all…

  • just wondering, can i get a Tax refund on this ? If i have combined items above the $300 threshold?

    • you mean using TRS when leaving country? you can only combine if it's on a single receipt, so if you bought 2, you will ;)

    • GST refund? Yes. 1 receipt or tax invoice with a total of more than $300. They don't care if you have 10 items x $30 each.

      • yes i meant GST refund.

Thanks =D i might consider the deal now. Just a little worried about the thickness/battery life before I make my purchase

    • Must be purchased within 30 days before the departure date from Australia.

  • I have one of these (bought it at an insurance claim auction for $200) and they're pretty damn nice. Bright, well made screen, a responsive screen and decent battery. There is an issue with the new Google OS however in that you can no longer write to the external SD card, only read. This is an issue for a lOT of apps (ComicRack is the main problem I have). This means for some things you'll have to be copying/pasting to the (small) internal memory to read.

Apart from that I'm incredibly happy with this tablet, so take that as you will!

    • Not being able to write to SD is driving me crazy on the Xoom, seriously hope it's fixed soon

      Otherwise very good deal

  • I can never seem to keep the kids away from my smartphone. It's odd though, because I'm not a father.

    • +6

      are you a mother ?

      • he can be a brother.

        • Or a primary school teacher.

  • +2

    bought one, my first tablet.

  • +3

Massive thank you to everyone in this post.

Just got one from Office Works $200.50.

My Wife is going to be very pleased to receive her birthday present 1 month late.

I purchased an ainol tablet from merimobiles about 7 weeks ago. It came 1 week after her birthday we tried to get it working but there is a problem with the battery. Merimobiles are trying to fix it and are sending me a new battery but it is taking ages. Last night she was getting really angry at me (in a way it is my fault…too busy looking for bargains rather than a decent quality product) anyway she wanted me to buy her a new one but most are around $400. So this one will be just fine! Thanks so much! Will keep the other one for myself hopefully get it working if not will hopefully be able to send it back and get my money back if need be.

    Thanks again!!

    • Don't give it to her a month later, give it to her now and ask her to use it immediately as one month later it is only worth of $150??

      • +1

her birthday was one month ago, he is already late a month :D

  • Just got one from Officeworks in the Brisbane CBD for $200.50 (and decided to get two years of extra warranty for $23)

They are not on display but when asked they had stock.

  • can anyone verify what stores in sydney have done the match price please? and a pic of the receipt would b nice

    • just purchased one at liverpool officeworks. $198.41

  • Wasn't asked to do the extra warranty but probably seemed too much of a cheap skate that i wasn't worth asking.

Anyway i did mine in Noarlunga SA

Had never done it before and they did it pretty much no questions asked just gave them a print out of the website and then they confirmed it with my shipping post code etc.

Will the image of the receipt make it easier?

  • +6

Why is everyone going to OW for price match and not supporting Shopping Express for giving us this great offer ?

    • +3

instant gratification. plus it's cheaper with the 5% discount - $198.41

      • +2

we should support these online retailers. they are the ones bringing the prices down while aussies have been traditionally raped off by the big retailers. definitely buy more and give them bigger bargaining power with their suppliers so they can continue to provide lower prices. if we fall for the big boy bully tactics from the big retailers (beat by 5% of lowest price elsewhere) and squeeze these smaller guys out, they will regain the market power and push up the prices again!!!

    • Price matching also maintains some stock so everyone can get a piece of the action. Keep it up, I can't get to OW until Sunday.

  • +6

Because we get it now!! And 5% less.

  • +1

toshiba tablets are a little thing and heavy but a nice price indeed.

  • +7

OW is trying to kill online stores like Shopping Express with the price beat. After they all are dead (another 10 to 20 years) OW will be selling them at RRP when there are no other competitors around for you to choose from. Classic example Woolworths and Coles.

    • +2

then, more online stores popup and OW will be doing it again. Ad infinitum.

They won't win. Only the consumer.

  • +2

Officeworks Wetheril Park would NOT price match claiming they don't price match a temporary sale price and only a store's every day price and they contacted the Melbourne office to check before they made their claim to me. So bulls&^t I said so I went to another Officeworks and they gave it to me for $199+15.95 express - 5% = $204 (they claimed they take the highest shipping price) I wasn't going to argue.

This will be quiet small compared to my ipad 1 (which my wife would not let go off) but the screen resolution, weight, available ports and microSD port make it perfect all rounder tablet.

In a way I feel bad I am not supporting shoppingexpress for this good deal but I wanted it NOW :) and I am sure they will sell all their stock before the sale ends this sunday.

BTW for those looking for the manual here is a link
    http://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1021253426.pdf

  • +7

Got one! Super Cheap Deal. Nice one Shopping Express. Can't be bothered looking silly price matching at Officeworks just to save a few bucks which you may not even get. Plus by the time I drive there my fuel and time would cost more than the 10 bucks saved.

  • +1

Just bought one for my wife at OW Werribee. Wife is really happy now :)

They still have a few more stock left from what I heard. Get in quick!

  • it doesnt have a sd card slot. how to expand the storage? i jb my new ipad, so i can use sd card now. what should i do with this one?

    • +1

      never mind.

found it on toshiba website, it has a micro SD slot.

    • some a retarded liked to neg.

      • returned to neutral now :D

  • +2

If anyone wants a bright green or dark blue back cover for one of these, Office Works have them on clearance for $16.
    http://officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Tablets…
    http://officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Tablets…

    • +1

are you sure they are for the 7"? Don't understand why you would put on a back cover when the unit has a nice rubberised anti-slip back anyway.

      • That's what I thought. This tablet does not need a back cover?

    • i think those covers are for the 10" tablet.

  • +2

And if you're looking for a store near you with the tablet in stock, click here
    http://officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Tablets…
And then click on the "Store Availability" link - can't directly link as it's a java script.

    • +3

Just make sure you call first to save yourself a trip. Before you ask them to price match make sure they have it in stock otherwise they will just tell you they are out of stock.

  • +1

cant decide to buy this or not —'
are 7inch tablets ideal for uni lecture notes? where ill edit and annotate?
and wondering if battery will suffice for 6 hours at ui..

    • +1

excellent for uni, or to take around, not too heavy.
but dunno about the battery life

  • +4

damn you OP, i went to local OW, and they price match this beauty and i came home $189.05 poorer. i should quit coming to OZbargain….
because of Ozbargain, i bought a Acer A501 32GB @ $399 from OW, and realised it big and heavy, and no much use, so sold to a happy sastisfied gal @ $400… 7 inch is probably the right size to hold in a hand with ease. Thank you and no thank you OP again.
