Ahh I remember the day that I got my 6x sapphire for this when they had their 50% off mistake. Bet you they still made stupid money that day!

Not bad price currently for a sapphire, everywhere else is 649!

  • Are these worth buying in 2022 when they came out 3 years ago?

My last garmin lasted 4 years before I thought the battery was done. Turns out it was a bad firmware update that Garmin then fixed after I had already replaced it. I am no expert, but I think the only thing the Fenix 6 is missing is the ECG sensor compared to the 7. And that ECG might not even get approved in AUS. IMO Garmins definitely last.

    • Yes, this a great price. The Garmin 7 line does not offer a big jump on hardware or features. It just has a couple of new gimmicks, probably more software base. It will take some time until the 7s pricing is discounted. The sapphire glass is the best feature you could get.

  • I need the 6S for my small wrists!

  • Garmin Forerunner 955 and 955 Solar are both on the eBay 10% off deal (you have to search outside the promo page to see the solar edition). Glass heart rate sensor cover and touch screen are just some of the useful upgrades ($720 and $855 respectively).

    • Those FR955 eBay listings have since disappeared, so my comment is no longer relevant.

This is a great price for a great watch.
I have Epix2 Sapphire Black Titanium (which is essentially Fenix 7 with AMOLED display) and I'm loving it. Best fitness watch with enough smart features and amazing battery life. Otherwise I would have jumped on this deal as it's heaps cheaper than Epix2/Fenix 7.

You can get it even cheaper if you use online chat (or call store) to price match Amazon $599. If you call, just ask them to SMS you a link to your price match deal. Then you apply the 10% coupon to the cart link they provide and it should now cost you only $539.10.
That is how I got Epix2 discounted earlier in the year (called 3 stores to get the best price) - but still double the cost of Fenix 6.

The most important features for me are:
    - Battery life (16 days+ with Epix2 / 14 days with Fenix 6 with always ON display). I only charge my Epix every 2 weeks (display not always ON mode; 5km run with GPS every second day; 24/7 heart rate; phone notifications), so Garmin claims are real in my experience.
    - Sapphire glass - important to protect such an expensive watch.
    - Ruggedness/Waterproofing - it is a sports watch I wear 24/7.
    - NFC for payment.
    - Daylight visibility even my Epix2 with AMOLED is clear in brightest sunlight. Fenix6/7 have (always ON) MIP display which gets brighter/clearer with the sun.

The main difference between 2022 models (Fenix 7/Epix2) and Fenix 6 is that new models have touch screen. I rarely use it though as I prefer navigation by buttons, but it is the only worthwhile benefit of the new hardware - be it at a ridiculous price premium.

NOTE: This is primarily premium fitness watch. If you are mainly after Smart Watch features, these are limited (but enough for me), you should look elsewhere: Galaxy Watch 4 or Apple which you will have to charge daily.

Thanks for your informative input. Is this not a touch screen?

      • Surely.. I was considering this but no touchscreen will be a deal-breaker. Coming from an instinct solar I'm over buttons.

      • +1

No - Fenix 6 has no touch screen.
But that wouldn't have convinced me not to buy it. Honestly, I love my AMOLED touchscreen on Epix2, but at this price, I would have bought Fenix 6 at less than half the cost. It's no brainier.

      • I guess the question is, are you using it as a watch or a Fitness device? If I'm running it doesn't matter if it's buttons or touch, I'm too busy trying not to die or trip over.

        • +1

That's so true - I have touch screen automatically disabled during my activities - eg. running :)
At all other times, I find I use buttons 90% of time. Touch screen is much nicer when using maps though.

As I said earlier, this is primarily a fitness watch, and for that, buttons are fine (or even preferred).

    • Thanks for the price match tip. Got it for $539.10 as you said.

      • Hi mate, just wondering if the link you got from JB work only once or can be used again. I called but they said the best price is $584.10 including the discount. They told me that they cannot price match Amazon and add the 10%

        • It works by the team member creating an order for you, linked by phone number. Single use unfortunately.

  • My fenix 5 is still ticking along unfortunately.

  • Hi, with the 10% of on ULTIMATE HOME EGIFT deal, will the price goes down to $526. Can I buy this with the Giftz ultimate gift card.? Thanks

    • +2

Ended Up paying $486 for this watch,
      1. Price match at JB to $599 at amzone. Sent link to my phone.
      2. "92JBFRENZYJUL" brings down to $539.10
      3. Paid with $540 ultimate gift card which I bought for $486. Using "JULOVE" from "giftz.com.au"

Bit of an hassle, but worth it. Cheers.
