    not bad.

just not applicable to existing customers..

    shame

i've bought these in the past, contacted boost via chat, and they have created me as a new user, and then ported my current number to this new sim. It took around 15 minutes for the to do and then 5 more for things to update and for the new sim to start working. I have ven told them if there is any way i can keep any of my remaining data and move it to the new SIM, and they say they can't, but eventually offer to give you a 50GB bonus if you politely "push" them to give you something.

      • +1

thanks for sharing this experience mate. that's very helpful

      • +4

I tried this and it didn't work. I called again next day and the next person also refused saying this for new customers.

        • last time was in march this year. Maybe they got more picky about it? alternatively, you can port out using a cheap $2 sim from another company and then port back in. Be aware that apparently there is a specific mobile company that you cant port in from, can't remember which one it was, remember seeing it on another comment in the past.

          • @pichxlonco: Was able to do it via chat 10 days ago. They said "I think i understand what you are telling me to do, it will take 10 min.. "

        • +3

I assume you can still port out and then back in again as a 'new customer'

Gomo might be a convenient option if you have a phone compatible with esim - https://www.gomo.com.au/esim

Or spend an hour on a $2 Vodafone (or whatever) SIM

        • +3

Same as gonzule, I did it via chat and they just straight up did it with no argument (in late June). No dramas doing it last year either. Again, that was via chat, not phone.

I just say I bought a starter kit instead of a recharge, can it be applied to my current number please. Generally get told we'll have to activate the new SIM and then port your number to it, is this acceptable? Once it's done just pop in the new SIM and Bob's your uncle.

          • @MonkDog: I did it for my phone and it worked, I need to try it for mum this week and see how it goes.

        • I did it twice this year already via online chat, I think I have the transcript saved

      • +1

And if you shamelessly beg you can get them up to 70GB >:)

      • +1

you are way past pushing it asking for extra data after getting them to port you over to a new sim with all the work involved

obviously you got pretty lucky with customer service, i wouldnt expect extra data

        • Worst thing that could happen if them saying no. In my case, i had over 80gb left. I guess it would be a different story if you had 123mb left

          • @pichxlonco: having data isn't really relevant, it's suppose to be an offer exclusive to new users, demanding to get previous data ported over is taking the piss

people going in and buying this and expecting it are being setup for failure

  • Thanks. bought 4

    • Thanks

  • When do these SIMs expire?

    • +1

      8/2023

      • Did you ask the seller? how do you know?

    • +1

      31/8/2023 to be precise

      • Does it mean I can buy it today and activate or port over at the end of 2022 or even later?

        • Yes but you dont get the bonus data after 26 Sept

  • Why does it show 158$ when I try to buy it?
Not sure if I have to apply the coupon, but if yes then I tried that as well, it says coupon code not applicable for this product. Coupon code used - PLRANGE4.

    • +1

that code is for ebay Plus members only

      • Thanks, so is the price is also for ebay plus members?

        • You can subscribe to eBay Plus Monthly plan and cancel immediately and you only pay for one month.

          • @utsc: Not sure who downvoted you, but this was exactly what I did. Since the eBay plus membership is only $6.

The saving you get is more than that so it is worth it!

How is Boost going to charge for 5G after the free trial period?

Any idea on when International Roaming will be restored again in Boost? Currently not possible to get OTP via SMS while overseas.
There was a talk that international roaming would be restored after a software upgrade which has not happen for over a year now

I’ve not tested this on boost but on Telstra, this works flawlessly for calls and OTP whilst overseas. You have full carrier functionality whilst abroad - ie take/make calls like a local. If anyone has boost and has confirmed this, I’d like to know. Amaysim currently does not have this.

      • Always have wifi calling on with Boost but never actually tried it to see if it works.

      • WiFi Calling didn’t work for me overseas 6 months ago

        • This is whilst you were with Boost? If that’s the case that’s a pity :( was hoping it works, I’d jump back to boost just for overseas OTP SMS

  • +2

    Still no international roaming !

  • Bought one thanks. I found boost is better than other Telstra wholesaler network, being In Tasmania.

    • Thanks

  • No 5G I think ?

    • Apparently 5G is available until September as a trial from what I read

  • Mine is going to be expired in Feb 2023. Should I fomo and buy now or wait for the next offer ? Lol

  • This deal (and the other out of stock/expired one) seems to have many more positive responses and upvotes compared to the Woolworths 365 day 140ish GB Sims that come with a once a month 10% off Woolies shop.

    Can anyone tell me why?
Is Boost that much superior in stability/data speeds etc or something?

    • +4

Boost is the only wholesale Telstra provider with full Telstra network coverage, so is as close to the full monty as you can get.

    • woolworths uses wholesale testra which is a cut down version

while boost has full access to the telstra network

      read this
      https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Guides/Telstra-ne…

    • +1

Also the $150 Woolworths annual plan only gives you 100gb. The missus is on WM and uses the 10% off/month but we found the second 10% off was rarely getting used as we went to Coles/Other Supermarket/Markets instead and didn't have a second large monthly Woolworths shop.
      YMMV.

      • But woollies has esim

    • Maybe not everyone shops at Woolies.

  • Two weeks have past and I still haven't received the Kogan SIM i ordered? What's another alternative people have used to port out and back in?

    • i think servos and supermarkets have a 2 dollar kogan sim you can use to port out.

  • Looks to have been OzBargained, any more coming into stock?

  • This item is out of stock.

  • +2

Sold out, but there are still a few stores with stock for a few more dollars.
