I always found it interesting that the Bunnings back team keeps a watchful eye on amazon despite their price match policy not even including amazon.
good price. I use mine as smart buttons to control the rest of my IoT devices, notification/event flashes, and general aesthetic ambiance.

They probably just have a 3camels account that they scroll through each day

    • the nanoleaf panels are touch enabled?

      • +1

yes. the touch functionality can be exposed to HomeKit (not sure about Alex/goog). each individual panel has a single touch, long press, and double press that can be programmed. love it

there's also the usual gimmicky stuff you can use them for in the Nanoleaf app itself like touch games

        • Awesome!

I'm in the google camp though :( Got excited that there might actually finally be a way (ANY WAY) to have a physical switch that also triggered smart devices linked to Tuya

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: You probably could if you used Home Assistant - it can register HomeKit devices to use, and then you could translate that to the Tuya integration. Little bit of work needed though :)

        • +1

That’s pretty cool actually.. I can think of a few uses.

        • Another stupid question, what's the cheapest way to power 1-2 triangles? Dont really fancy spending $200 per room just so i can switch/dim my smart lights :(

          • +1

            @Jimothy Wongingtons: haha, I'd either
            - look into the mini triangles, since they're somewhat cheaper, especially on sale and sell in a smaller pack count (I think 5 pack)
            - take a look at the 42w power adapter that they sell a la carte- see amazon. but at $~50 it's not cheap

            • @KeplersLaws:

              $~50 it's not cheap

cheeky, just looked into it, it's got a very unique secondary quick connector sigh.

Ah well guess i'll just stick to using google assistant voice control then :(

@Jimothy Wongingtons: you can get Zigbee buttons for around $20 that you do not need to power on all the time. While these may be cool instead of the buttons, you may need the controller for every separate installation.

            • @misu p: right. these are mainly a mosaic/ feature piece, which have incidental smart button functionality. I too use aqara zigbee buttons around the house and they work great. zigbee buttons also take CR2032 button cell batteries and last years

        • can you expand more on this ? I have two sets of these but never noticed any individual panel touch functionality ??!!

nothing happens when I touch mine …

Unless this is some new model ? My triangles look little different to the ones in the pic.

          • @Omarko: yes, you likely have the much loved but now discontinued 'Nanoleaf Light Panels' — rather than the new Shapes line (hexa, tria, mini tria). those don't have touch functionality

  • +2

I don’t need them… but do I want them? Yes.

    • +1

Then after Now that I have them… I don't know what to do with them.

  • +1

Have some of the Canvas ones in the daughter's room and while they are decent enough, you really need a bunch of them to make any worthwhile shapes. And the app absolutely sucks.

    • I agree that the app is not the best. but after setting up my desired scenes I just use HomeKit anyway, and I find they work fine.

  • Price-matching online with JB HiFi can't be stacked with the extra 10% off unfortunately - see comments here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12455854/redir

The thing I dislike about these is how the light doesn't go fully into the corners, so the shape looks more rounded than completely like the intended shape. The triangle is possibly bearable but the hexagon is horrid, it looks like it couldn't decide between being a circle or hexagon.

  • I'm fascinated by these but the product pics don't show off much, anyone seen some cool designs around they can share specifically with these?

    • +5

sure, here's my setup. ignore the lines, they are not visible to my naked eye.

      • The lines don't actually exist it's just the camera capturing it

        • hmm, not to go too far down this digression but don't they technically do exist, but are just refreshing quick enough that human eyes don't notice it? like monitor screens, helicopter blades, etc

      • Looks pretty nice thanks for sharing Keplers :)

  • I’m guessing to get GG to pricematch you gotta go in store but then how would you apply the 15% code?

    • Anyone?

    • Anyone had success with Price Matching with GG, I was told by their Customer Service that they couldn’t Price Match with Bunnings or Amazon??

      • i'm honestly not sure if good guys officially price match, can't find anything on their website about it. i know there's the 30 day concierge guarantee but that's completely different.

they of course do the "price match" button functionality where they will offer a slightly better price than competitors on the product page itself but do they have an official policy to price match generally?

  • Anyone knows why Nanoleaf is so expensive?

    • It’s 20% because they’re far superior to aliexpress/ reject shop rgb panels, and 80% because they need to cover their marketing costs😂

  • +2

just bought this from JB in-store, with 10% off storewide deal, then with the egift card for the extra 10% off for $161.19 :))

  • +1

im not sure why it says out of stock when my local bunnings still has these in stock for $199?

    • +1

the bunnings deal will end when amazon ends. amazon's stock is now on backorder for me, but it doesnt seem like bunnings has noticed that yet hehe. but yeah, looks like the listing was updated again
