    amazing machine!

      expensive machine!

      • yes, its pretty expensive. I paid $1600 for a 13" m1 Pro, sold it for $1600 and then paid $2500ish for a 14" pro (AOC discount+Cashback). $1000 increase for 8gb more ram, 256 more storage, gorgeous 120hz display, higher performance, better speakers and better I/O. Diminishing returns for the $$ ofc but I couldn't live with a 60hz laptop after having a 144" desktop display.

        • +3

          that's one mighty big display

          • @bwad: oh shit now I see what I did wrong 😅 144hz**

    • +4

Yep. I just upgraded to the M1 Pro 16” from a 2019 Intel i7 15” and the difference is crazy. These apple silicon chips are such a huge step up.

Yeah nah. Get a dedicated GPU for AI/ML workloads

  • I'm confused. How do you 'stack' this with the egift card when purchasing online? What are the steps?

    • +6
      1. Go to the deal on 10% off eGift cards. Buy as much value as you need and get 10% off.
      2. Go to JB Hi-Fi and use eGift cards to buy JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards (the eGift card works like a Visa debit card)
      3. Add the item to cart and apply multiple JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards to pay
        1. What do you mean by 'as much value as you need'? Can't I just buy a single voucher for the value of the Macbook?

        2. So in the checkout screen of JB Hifi, there'll be an option for 'gift card'. Is that what you mean?

        • What do you mean by 'as much value as you need'? Can't I just buy a single voucher for the value of the Macbook?

The gift cards are in $20 $50 and $100 denominations. There is no option to buy a single voucher to the value of the laptop.

So in the checkout screen of JB Hifi, there'll be an option for 'gift card'. Is that what you mean?

          Yes that should be it.

  • First TGG, and now JB. I also see OW lowered, although unavailable online and instore.

What are the odds HN would bring it down too? I gotta make use of some salary packaging benefits…

    • +1

TGG sale is on all MacBooks, including the M2 chips on Air and Pro
JB have only selected a few to be on sale, but you can get a price match

  • Bought this from JB with 1000 dollars in gift cards from the giftz deal as well. Took 10 minutes for giftz cards and then about half hour after purchase to recieve 1000 in JB gift cards then easy check out with 2 JB gift cards

    • how much did you end up paying at last?

  • +1

Damn, so many things to HODL for. M2 Pro 16, 4080, 7800X3D, 38" Alienware. lol. Luckily for me, none of them are a priority ATM.

  • Price matched at Apple a MBP 14" 16GB/1TB Silver (they checked the JB in the same centre which had stock) - thanks OP

    • +1

Did they do a better price or just the same?

    • which apple store price matched for you?

  • Got this on Tuesday for $2388 by stacking AOC store and 20x everyday rewards.

Seems good so far, havnt used it too much.

    • Hi do you mind explaining what you mean to this to a forum noob please?
      What does AOC stand for?

Do you buy the gift cards first then use those to buy the gift cards through Woolworths etc?

      • Hey Man. AOC is a on student campus deal with apple which has a slightly better discount than aple education store.

I wasnt even sure if my Uni qualified but I ordered through AOC and picked up no problems:

        OR
        https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/store

I combined with this deal 20x woolworth reward points with apple gift cards:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/713728

Which is expired but $2670 of gift cards gave me $270 worth of woolies points to spend.

You could maybe combine with this deal currently and see how you go:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716240

I am also going overseas in less than 60 days from date of purchase and hoping for the holy trinity - claiming the $240 ish GST back. Wish me luck

        • Thanks so much for clarifying. Great tip, I'm with the uni and didn't know about AOC.

With the GST thing is there a risk that they check you're not bringing the laptop back?

          • @alexferdi:

is there a risk that they check you're not bringing the laptop back?

There's always a risk as you are not suppose to return any item you claimed trs on.

are you me because I did the exact same thing! (except I used flybuys). I also clicked during the 5% CR deal and it tracked $120 cashback for me which I did not expect. I doubt you can get a Macbook any cheaper anywhere else in the world.
