    Great games.

  • +1

I just bought Little Nightmares. Of course! -_-

    • Ditto

    • +3

      Classic Pollywaffle.

    • +6

      Thank you for your sacrifice

  • -5

Lol, of course this is free now; I bought the damn thing. Just jb my console and can’t use plus now but oh well

  • +2

Stoked for Like A Dragon but already spent $$ on the others…

  • +4

    Great month.

  • This is the basic plus right? Awesome games.

    • +2

      Yep

      • Sweet :)

      • So we keep them forever, so long as we have some kind of paid PS+ membership going on? They can't remove it like they do with Gamepass games?

        • Yep once they're added to your account you have them forever. You just need to have a sub to be able to play them

  • +2

yeah Yakuza like Dragon but i am playing it at game pass now hahaha

    • Same lol!

    • +1

Haven't started playing yet on Game Pass, but I was hoping I'd get around to it before it was removed, which is always the risk with XGP games. At least now, I know that it will always be on my account whenever I finally get through the backlog to start playing it, so, yay! :)

  • +2

Surprisingly decent. Thought it’d get even worse to encourage people to get on extra or deluxe but glad that’s not the case.

  • +1

Is this Yakuza the first in the line up of yakuzas we should play?

    • +21

Yakuza 0 (takes place in 1988)
Yakuza Kiwami (takes place in 2005)
Yakuza Kiwami 2 (takes place in 2006)
Yakuza 3 (takes place in 2009)
Yakuza 4 (takes place in 2010)
Yakuza 5 (takes place in 2012)
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (takes place in 2016)
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (takes place in 2019)

      • +2

I've only played (and loved) Yakuza 0, then tried Like a Dragon and hated it - didn't like the changes

        • It's is a departure from the norm

      • Cheers

    • Like a dragon is almost like a reboot for the series, 0-6 are the story of Kiryu Kazuma, LaD is is focused around a new protagonist so you can start from there if you want without losing much (starting from 6 would be silly).

Add to that the older games are all brawlers, LaD is a turn based system so depends on what you are more into.

I loved all the games (with 0 being my fav) up to Like a Dragon, I just couldn't get into the new combat system. Might try it again now though.

  • +5

Hope the leak is correct. Would love to try the new Tony Hawk games.

    • +7

They’re excellent. One of the best “decades later” remakes.

    • Pretty sure this came from Sony themselves, not really a leak:

      https://blog.playstation.com/2022/07/27/playstation-plus-mon…

      • That's even better.

Maybe at the time it was still linking the previous month? I don't know. All I remember when I googled, the top results were all still predictions.

  • +4

Decent lineup. Of course I have all three already…

    • +3

      This is the struggle.

Sony put good games on there and people complain because they've already bought them. The reason they bought them is because they're good games. So then Sony for for more obscure / less-good games and everybody complains because "they're crap!" :D

I think this month is kind of the sweet spot… stuff like Yakuza and THPS are good, but not huge AAA games that millions of people already bought. Then Little Nightmares waving the flag for the quality indie games. There was one a couple months back called Curse of the Dead Gods which I'd never even heard of until it was on PS+, but I absolutely loved it. Still playing it almost daily now. Wouldn't mind more slightly-obscure-yet-awesome indie stuff like that!

  • Oh snap!! Some bangers on that list!

  • Wow bought the PS4 version of Yakuza for $29 from JB months back and still unopened…..

  • +3

A soon to be Microsoft owned game given away free on PS+. Pretty awesome games to be given for free.

Hoping any form of success with THPS1+2 increases chances of a 3+4 remaster.

    • +3

      Just want skate 4

      • +1

There's a new Skate title in development.

      • +2

        MAKE EA SKATE AGAIN

    • +1

Apparently such a game was planned and then shelved after Vicarious, that did 1+2, was rolled into Blizzard

      https://www.pcgamer.com/more-tony-hawk-remakes-were-planned-…

Maybe the MS merger will undo it or see them pass the rights onto someone else, but for now it seems off the cards. That's despite acknowledgement that 1+2 was successful.

    • 3+4 wont be remade until atleast takeover happens

  • +3

Do they still sell ps 12 month subscriptions to stack on? I can find them anywhere!

    • Also interested in the answer to this. Back in the day there were discounts on 12 month cards every other month. Can't recall seeing any for a while now.

    • I think they stopped selling them a couple months ago while they were managing the introduction of the new PS+ subscription tiers. If you can't find them I guess they might not have resumed selling them yet?

  • Don’t have any. Very happy.

  • +4

Fantastic month! Sony still bringing quality games to essential even after launching extra and deluxe tiers. Good to see. Compared to GwG that just needs to die with the trash MS give in it each month.

  • +1

    Beauty

  • +4

Thps2 is the best, ripper soundtrack.

  • I just bought a 1 month ps pass. Once that expires will the games still be on my console?

    • +4

You wont be able to play it

    • +3

You will need an active PS+ membership to access these titles after you redeem them.

I.e. Once it expires, you won't be able to play them. As soon as you reactivate, you'll be able to play them again.

  • +1

    Fantastic month.

  • +1

    Delicious month.

  • +1

    Great month!

  • Little nightmares is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Little nightmares 2 takes it up a notch.

Great that’s it’s free but I’d happily support the developers and pay for these games!

    • I still haven't play little nightmares 2, byt looking forward to play little nightmares on the big screen, instead of switch!

  • finally a month I can put my hands on.

  • If I get active PS Plus subscription and make another Turkey account to get another PSPlus subscription there - will I lose all games that I’ve claimed on my old and still going subscription? Saw some comments that I will and that’s weird.

    • +2

Any game you have claimed while you were subbed to that PS plus account, will be tied to that account and can only be accessed if that accounts PS plus is active.

You only lose access to the games you have claimed if your PS plus lapses on said account.

Making and account for the Turkish psn store, and getting plus on that account and claiming games will have no effect whatsoever on your other accounts, claimed or bought.

  • +1

Good games… pity I own both on XSX already, but honestly Like a Dragon was probably my most played game last year as I really enjoyed the not too serious JRPG. I hadn't played any previous Yakuza game though.

    • As someone who started playing yakuza with 0 then Kiwami 1 and 2 and absolutely loved them (despite owning the older ones I never got around to it)… Like a Dragon is awesome, I had been playing DQ11 around the same time so I was really into what they were doing with it. Would love to see more of it in future titles!

      • I think in the midst of the pandemic, having a JRPG with a serious political story balanced with some "street" humour was what I needed. I felt that they really integrated that not too serious mentality really well throughout the game - not just the dialogue, but the items, the actions, the missions, side quests, mini games, etc.

    • +1

Do yourself a favour and play the earlier Yakuza games, they're all great (albeit overlong). If you have XSX then I assume you have GamePass, and I think they're all on there, unless they've since been removed?

  • +7
    • +1

Awesome! Wonder if they'll include lost judgement later since I don't have that.

    • Kinda bummed that only Yakuza 7 is for PS+ Essentials.

      • +1

That's not technically true - PS+ Essentials (ie the basic PS+ that has been around for years) also has Yakuza 4 and 5 (for PS3) and Yakuza Kiwami (PS4), assuming you were subscribed and grabbed them back when they were available. Only problem would be you would still need a PS3 for 4 and 5 due to lack of backwards compatibility for PS3 stuff. But yeah, certainly more convenient to play the PS4 remastered / remade versions.

  • +1

Wow how great is this month . Great work Sony!

  • +5

As much as I enjoy Game Pass, at least Sony still give out bangers from time to time that you get to keep. So long as you have an active subscription ofc. Now I just need to snag a PS5…

Gold monthly games can only be described as trash, and now that Microsoft is removing 360 titles and probably going down to only 2 games per month, the quality better improve to this level

    • Agreed. Whilst game pass for the most part is good, the quality has trended down a little.

  • Damn, good games but own them all 😞

  • +2

    24-6-21 Target Sale Purchases..
    Crash 4 = $20
    Tony Hawk Pro 1-2 = $15
    Both still unplayed.. 🙈🙉🙊
    Can't blame PS+ yet damnnn 2 months straight! 🤯

    • +2

Yeah I got TH and Crash for fairly cheap but still haven't opened them. I might just give up buying games now and wait for them to come to PS+.

  • +1

Well, I'll give them this, Crash 4 and Tony Hawk do be 2 good games in a row.

    • I got crash last month for free so my kid could play.. I was impressed. Looks and plays great.

  • +2

I pretty much gave up on Yakuza games after Judgment. Not that I didn't love them all, but they're just such huge bloody time sinks that I decided enough was enough, so I didn't get Like A Dragon or Lost Judgment. And now PS+ does this to me. Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in!

Will also have a got at Tony Hawk since it seems to be pretty highly regarded. Already got Little Nightmares, that was excellent.

    Good month!

  • I have all three on PC and all are great games. Cant wait to have tony hawk on ps5 though. Just a cool relax on the couch game.

  • Anyone in Brisbane still looking to buy a PS5, JB HiFi at Loganholme (the Hyperdome) are taking orders for a PS5 bundle (I forgot which bundle, I think it's the Horizon one).

To get one, you'd need to go in store and pay the full price of $849 (it has a game or games with the console) and delivery is in September.

I was just there to replace a faulty Xbox controller, so I asked out of curiosity, and they "quietly" told me that I could pay for it now, and get it within 30 days, so, that's how I know (but when I asked about a PS5 they said no idea when).

  • +3

Good month although Like A Dragon is not for me, I like the traditional brawler style button mashing. It's half the fun of the games. Tried so many turn based and I don't like any of them, never have and never will.

    • +2

Same here but I just turn on auto attack and play it like an interactive movie lol.
It's also disappointing that the main yakuza series will be turn based moving forward.

On the other hand, the judgement spin off games are still mashers and aren't too bad though it's not the same without kiryu and majima.

      • +1

To be fair they did 7 games in the action / brawler style (not counting the Judgment spin offs, or the remakes/remasters, or the weird spin offs like the zombie one and the samurai one). Can probably only keep going back to that well so many times without changing it up a bit.

I haven't played Like A Dragon, but I guess I'm lucky in that I like turn based games as well as action ones (I'll take the original FF7 turn based menu system over the remake any day), so I'll probably enjoy it. Not sure I want to sink the dozens of hours into it that they always demand, though.

  • +2

    Stupendous month

  • -6

why do they keep pushin the crappy Yakuza game Yakuza: Like A Dragon this is the only one that is bad the rest are good.

    • +1

The other ones will be on PS Extra.

    • +3

      In your opinion…

Like a Dragon is awesome. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it's bad.

      • -4

clearly never played the original games.

        • Y7 has an 86 on opencritic and a 96% positive rating on Steam, so clearly you are in the minority in thinking it's crap. RGG are still making real time games, go play Judgment/ Lost Judgment if turn based games trigger you so much

You not liking turn based games doesn't mean they are bad / crappy, people have different tastes and there is no reason for you to be an arse about it. It's very weird to gatekeep a game series with statements like that in any case (It happens all the time with decades long series whenever devs try something new and it's honestly pretty pathetic).

You have like 8 Yakuza games + 2 Judgment games in the style you like in any case, I wonder why the devs wanted to try something new, almost like making games in the exact same style for like 20 years burns people out.

        • ur right yakuza7 is boring, slow as hell story wise and combat is retarded

    • -1

Had to login to tell you I LOVED Like A Dragon. Played the others but never could get into them, but this game was so good that it made give the others in the series another go, so I can catch up on the story. Your opinion, is bad.

  • +1

    Now live!

  • Ugh, I own Little Nightmares and just bought Like a Dragon a month ago, so not much this month for me, but that's a banger month for everyone else who hasn't bought those games yet.

  • Nice to have THPS1+2 on PS5. I bought it for Xbox One when it came out, but I completed it and then the Series X paid upgrade came out which I was a bit salty about. Plus you could only upgrade if you bought the digital copy.

  • Not tricky to find in the app. Subscription > learn more then included…

  • These are now available to download.
