Does anyone know if the MS ones come with 2 year warranty?

    • +5

Should be on all in Australia?

      • Not sure. A mate said that if you buy from MS, you get an extra 1 year warranty.

        • +1

You should be able to get two years warranty on a $700+ console. Also pay with an AMEX for an extra year, unless you are using gift cards.

          • @Pricebeat: How does amex get an extra year?

            • +1

              @CptnObvious:

Buyer’s Advantage Cover6, extending the manufacturers' warranty by up to 12 months on eligible items purchased with your Card

              Source

              • @Pricebeat: Lots of cards offer this

                • @Tleyx: That’s good, I only have an AMEX credit card, so that’s all I know

        • if they told you that they lied because Australia must have 2 years for products like this, for other countries its 1 year.

        • +4

    • JB Hi-Fi provide a 2-year warranty on this. https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053005194

I bought from Microsoft in June. It gave me 2 yrs warranty.

    • +1

      Yes it does.

    • -3

all computers and electronics come with 2 years warranty as standard because of the ACCC requirement.

    • -1

Had mine since launch day, wouldn't worry about extended warranty.

It's a $750 flagship gaming console, expect it to be under warranty for quite a few years to come.

Still waiting on your counter deal for a cheaper price?

      • Counter deal was the Costco one that was cheaper. This is still good to see though as stock is basically available readily now so they really arent hard to get.

        • +1

Do the maths and see which one works out cheaper?

$735 with a $60 yearly fee at Costco or a $674.10 from Microsoft with 10% off Ultimate gift cards and no yearly fee.

      • +2

I mean there's 3 xbox posts right now all for the same price from 3 different stores.

    • +1

I also started ignoring CashReward :-)

  • +6

Seems Microsoft has been finally able to meet demand for the Series X. Multiple stores have stock available for purchase
PS5 is still hard to find. I wonder if it’s higher demand or Sony unable to manufacture enough. Maybe both

    • +10

People are lowering their discretionary spending as consumer confidence falls.

    • +5

      meet demand

please let this be the case and see a lot of scalpers get rekt because of it

      • -8

No… don't pick on us scalpers… We bring you stock when there's no stock. You just choose to pay - it's like a P2W game - there is a market.
We all just try to be capitalists like our great founding father Adam Smith.

        • Except that scalping is one of the key reasons there is low stock in the first place.

          • @syousef: But that’s good for scalping business right? Drives the price up with restricting supply.

            • @CptnObvious: Wait, you want a pat on the back for driving up prices and making things unaffordable for people who want to use the product? Scalping is a cancer.

              • @syousef: It would be nice if you could. It would say a lot about our work being appreciated.

    • +3

Feel I remember reading something a bit back that Microsoft had taken initiative and secured supply chains earlier once the silicon chip shortage started to hit while Sony kinda fumbled about, ages back but it definitely sounds like it's more MS being organised rather than massive imbalanced demand

  • It comes with two years from Microsoft I know as I've got one earlier in the year

  • +2

Microsoft two year warranty plus $75 cashback on the green Xbox Gift Cards purchased from the Shopback app makes this the best deal currently available on the Series X

    • Is there a link to this?

      • You need the phone app for Shopback on your iPhone / Android

      • +2

True, but it's nice to not have to argue with them for an extra year

        • Arguing with them is the wrong pathway. To enforce your legal rights you need to make a complaint through the proper complaint stream which gives you the availability to make a dispute your bank, or make a claim in small claims Court.

Usually, the company folds before you get to this point as they fully know they will lose. It's just that people don't understand the appropriate pathways to reach this outcome.

Warranties offered by sellers are nothing but a scam.

          • @Fuego: Would you have any advice for someone currently undertaking this endeavour with JB Hi-Fi?
Not regarding warranty length but regarding major fault & wanting a credit instead of replacement.

Been to the store and they've replaced the product (even though I made it clear from the start I want a credit/refund). And the manager said I need to submit a complaint via the website - and I've done that and its been referred back to the manager, who has advised that the area manager will contact me soon. At every step of the way they've said they don't think its a major fault and a credit won't be possible (which I would expect them to say, they're just advocating for themselves). Consumer Affairs Vic says could defs be major fault and I have grounds… its just going to fall down to being a negotiation with JB.

Honestly they've been nice, assertive but nice. I don't want readers to think i've been brushed off, but as someone with severe social anxiety, this has been a very difficult & draining exercise lol.

            • @SailorGoon: Is there a way to PM on ozbargain? Making a complaint is definitely the correct pathway. What's the product, price and fault?

      • That's the theory. Good luck trying to claim that consumer law guarantee. How much success have you had in practice?

        • I've had products $1,200 tablets be fully refunded even 4 years after purchase. Your options are credit card charebacks and applications in a small claims Court.

It's not as difficult as it sounds and the consumer protections are there for a reason.

          • @Fuego: If I take the day off to go to small claims court for a cheap product, am I really winning?

Credit card chargebacks are great if you are confident you never have to deal with a company again. Try it with Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo. Good luck ever getting online to game on your console again. And even better luck taking them to court over it. Their terms and conditions will probably mean you never get back on.

Consumer law is something to fall back on. If you're planning to use it regularly, it's not gonna be a great experience.

            • @syousef: You don't need to go to the small claims court. The companies know it's going to cost them money and they usually fold. Their systems of refund/compensation is literally set-up with the idea that a majority of people don't understand the proper avenues for consumer rights, and the ones that do, they gladly pay out and move on. They don't need to win every battle whatsoever.

The only reason they don't fold is that people don't understand how their rights work or take it up with the wrong people.

And in regards to Nintendo or Sony, their retaliation against enforcing your rights in Australia would only backfire on them anyway. If it happens in another country, then yes, you would most likely lose access to all the products bought with no compensation whatsoever.

              • @Fuego: Dude if you issue a chargeback for any reason against a charge on the Playstation network you get cut off. It's in their TOS. I have seen people come onto Facebook groups asking how they can get their account back and the answer from other users was always that they can't.

Not related to cost, but I got cut out of my Xbox Gamepass because I signed up with Telstra, and after your subscription expires Microsoft will not allow re-subscription with a different provider for 1 month. That IS NOT disclosed and their support staff don't know either. I took it up with Fair Trading and I'm still fighting to get compensation I was promised. Check the discussion I started. ACL is great in theory but the agencies have no teeth and the companies know even more costly for you to go to court because you can't just write it off.

                • @syousef: I've never needed to go to the ACL to get my disputes settled. I'm sorry to hear you are having so much difficulty, but that is precisely the purpose of why I'm trying to inform the community on the reality of how things work.

Yes they can cut you off the PlayStation/Microsoft or whatever network all they want, and then you have the availability to chargeback or make a dispute on every purchase ever made that you now longer have access to. I more than welcome them to try that stunt on me as Australian consumer protections allow me protections that don't exist in other countries.

Lastly, if you are having issues with ACL then I suggest you get proper legal advice as the purpose of my comments are to help the wider community understand the legal process and I'm not here to give you advice on each of your specific problems. My legal obligations also prevent me from giving legal advice online as it's not covered by insurance. Perhaps acquiring legal representation would be able to help you understand your issues more clearly.

                  Enjoy your weekend.

                  • @Fuego: If you've been on PSN or Xbox Gamepass and you get cut off, there is a limit to how far the chargebacks go. It also means you won't get to game. If that was the outcome you wanted, you wouldn't have bought the game licenses and services in the first place. And proper legal advice isn't cheap.

Hope you have a good weekend too.

    • Just wanted to double check, on shopback there are xbox, xbox game pass, xbox game pass ultimate and xbox live gold gift cards. Would it be safe to assume only the xbox gift cards would work in the microsoft store to purchase the series x?

Why the hate? Who hurt you? Or is it the fact that you're a worker and you have no time play?

  • $734 for Costco members.

  • Will Stray get an Xbox release?

Timed exclusivity generally lasts a year so I wouldn't expect to see it on Xbox any time soon.
