It's the gaming OC not eagle so its better :)

    • +2

No the last 6900 XT deal was an asus tuf top edition I'm pretty sure

      • +5

Your description you wrote is wrong is what im saying im not talking about previous deals.

You said the deal is back, though its gigabyte eagle still worth your money.

      • yeah TUF is prob one of the best AIB for this gen

  • Neat

  • What's this like compared to the Asus TUF top edition deal from a while back?

    • +9

same price but it has been proved that the asus tuf top edition is a better card, but its not good enough to skip this deal and wait for the asus tuf top

    • +10

I've got the ASUS TUF, very happy with it, to be honest if i didn't have that one i'd seriously consider this gigabyte one for the same money. Note that the gigabyte model uses 3 x 8 pin rather than the TUF that uses 2. really dont think the 3x8 pin is necessary with these cards, they don't use nearly as much power as the equivalent RTX cards.

      • +4

But 3 X 8 pin makes the cable and sockets run cooler.

        • -1

if youre overclocking it maybe, otherwise these cards barely draw 200w as it is.

          • +2

@xyron: Not my experience after a month or so with mine.
            250 to 300 with UV

      • +1

Depending on the power limit, I know on my powercolor 6900xt Red Devil, you can boost the chip limit to 325w, which brings the total board power to 375w but with spikes it can push over 400w, so that's where the 3rd power connector comes in handy.

If you have a 3x PCIE setup you more than likely can overclock to 6950xt performance levels.

It's not hard to find games that sit on the max powerlimit, cyberpunk comes to mind. Helps you sustain 2600mhz clocks.

        • +2

In that case, this one is better!

        • +2

And with 3 X 8pin, it forcing you use at least 2 pcie power cable from PSU, but with 2 X 8pin, some people use splitter cable, then melting might happen.

    • +2

The Asus TUF TOP edition is a xtxh card, so better than this one

    • The Asus TUF Top Edition is running at a slightly higher clock which I dont think make any significant improvement in game. It is all about personal preference (given both are at the same price).

      • This gaming OC has boost clock up to 2285 MHz. TUF Top Edition boost clock is 2390 MHz… and I've OC'd mine to 2700 MHz.

if you don't care about RT and DLSS

this is probably a good bet on the flagship graphic card territory.

As I doubt the new generation flagship will be this price in Australia anytime soon.

  • +4

Loving your GPU deals, keep them up! Thanks!

    • +3

      No problem

  • +2

Isn't this better than pre-covid prices for the equivalent card of the time?

    • +5

No real flagship AMD equivalent, but you're right that the 2080 Ti was selling for waaaaaaay more than this, as was the 2080 for most of its life.

20 series was just absurdly overpriced though probably due to lack of competition

      • Reading through the comments made me chuckle.

For those that don't know, the RTX 3070 is due to come out soon for around $800AUD RRP with performance slightly better than the RTX 2080 Ti shown here.

I would advise those wanting to get the best value or even if they're willing to spend this much on a graphics card to wait for the RTX 3000 series"

Friends don't let friends buy the 2080ti when the 3080 and 3090 come out in a couple weeks.

    • +3

Indeed. MSRP when this card launched was $999 USD ($1423 AUD at current exchange rates). I think it's a great deal at $999 AUD and I doubt they will go much lower. You still only see Asus and Gigabyte 6900XT cards being discounted heavily which is interesting.

      • and I doubt they will go much lower

I reckon they will go lower still in the months to come. Supposedly there's still a glut of unsold cards due to the crypto crash and people still holding out for the RTX 40 series cards. They'll be forced to drop the prices to offload them before the new cards come out.

Will probably see AUD $800 6900 XT cards I reckon.

  • +1

    HODL..

    • +2

Bitcoin bounces and you can throw HODL out the window. It's a gamble either way.

      • +7

Or Bitcoin could drop even further.
Bitcoin is speculative. It has no intrinsic value. It is not backed by anything. It can drop even further.

Also electricity bill is only going up, not down.

  • +3

    This is a crazy price.

Either RDNA 3 and RTX 4000 series are coming down in price significantly or these last gen flagship are straight steal.

    • No, they wont come down in price. just retailers/distributors reducing stock. A 7700XT would be faster than this and cost less. There are rumours even the 7600XT would be as fast as this (I personally dont believe it).

    • RDNA 3 and RTX 4000 series are coming down in price significantly

There's no chance of that, they'll be very expensive most likely. Though NVIDIA may still be forced to lower prices over time if it turns out nobody is buying them at rip-off RRPs.

Current gen cards are dropping in price because there's an oversupply (due to the crypto crash, hell yeah), and they need to get rid of them before the new gen cards come out. This is the same reason that the new card launches are supposedly being delayed, to give more time to get rid of old stock.

Decided to finally pull the trigger, this is the one
    thank you.

  • +3

I got tired of looking reading and waiting. Time is money. Thanks op

  • +3

Been waiting for another 6990XT deal, snapped it up. Thanks for posting.

  • +2

    Pulled the trigger. Thanks OP!

  • Would a 3700x bottleneck a card like this at 1440p?

    • +1

It'd be a minimal amount, or not at all. Especially at 1440p and above.

    • +1

No, I ran 3600 before upgrading to 5600x and 6900xt. 1% lows could be improved, but a should do fine.

  • +2

    OOS?

    • Looks like it

      • +5

impulse purchase missed by 10 minutes, probably still a win :)

  • +1

sold out in 2 hours damn

    • I had my eye on this too. Saw it at work during after work drinks. Got home to look again - sold out.

      There's always next time.

  • +1

    back in stock!

  • This or the 12gb 3080 for $250 more?

    • +1

Nvidia's will go lower, but not sure about the AMD's

    • -3

I would go the nvidia 12gb if I had to buy now. But I Hodl for next gen.

  • Damn missed out. Kicking myself :(

    • Don't worry, there's some other similar 6900 XT deals around at the moment. Also, if you have preference over the exact model/brand/resale, you might actually prefer paying 10% extra to get a different 6900 XT anyway.

Edit: OP is back in stock at $999!

      • Aaaand it's gone again!

  • +2

For $100 more @ PCByte, is this (no OC?) Asus TUF 6900XT worth it?

  • +1

umart doing the same price now if you missed out

  • +4

Just came back in to stock for anyone interested:)

  • got a 2080ti so waiting on a 5090ti on a good deal!

  • +2

Good times ahead. We are now back to the old days when only the top of the range GPUs are over $1k instead of second and third tiers as well.

    • I remember the old days when GPU were $200 and top tier was $500.
