  • Can this run command and conquer remastered?

  • +2

Almost worth it just for the windows pro license!

Would you not spend the $16 extra dollars for the one with 8GB RAM, 256GB eMMC and a J4125?

    • +1

      That one is XT compatible.

      "2 hertz celeron"

    • Yes you would, great comment.

    Very slow.
For additional $17 , you can get better specs if you want similar size stick PC.

    J4215 better than n4020
    8g vs 4g
    256g vs 128g

  • Holy shit, I forgot these types of things even existed. So (profanity) cool, wish there was more innovation in the space, a full fledged computer I chuck in my pocket then into any old tele is great…only problem is carting a keyboard makes it less ultra portable, actually, I think I just answered why these disappeared.

Really more of a home add on type of device.
      Run smaller apps…
      Run streaming TV…
Run audio apps like Tidal, spotify etc.
      Run a browser…

Just like a chromecast (sort of), with Win OS. so generally speaking, can do more with less! :)

Keyboard/mouse sitting on your coffee table.

  • Do these sort of things support HDMI-CEC?

eMMC storage is outdated tech and it's crap, especially in long term use. It generates tons of storage fragments which cause the pc perform like unresponding.

I have a Mele Quieter 2 which has a Celeron J4125. It has the same cores as the N4020 in this device but is quad core instead of dual core. Performance is pretty good when used as a HTPC/streaming device.

I got the version with 8GB RAM which I recommend. When you have a browser open with ABC iView, SBS OnDemand and YouTube + a video player RAM usage is 5-6GB, so 4GB would cause a lot of swapfile usage on the slow internal eMMC. As an aside I installed an old 256GB M.2 drive I had lying around which works perfectly.

Aside from that it has 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, 4x USB 3.0, an Ethernet port, a headphone jack and Bluetooth. It's fully passively cooled and while it runs hot to the touch it never seems to throttle, and I have it running 24/7 while consuming around 5W at idle and about 10-15W in use. Awesome little device, highly recommend.

  • I did consider Mele HDMI stick for a while, but after a bit more research, I'll go for https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001921619318.html . It is a bit pricier, but has newer faster N5105 CPU, more RAM, faster m2 SSD that can be swapped, 2 HDMIs, USB-C power in and active cooling . Just waiting for the next batch of AliExpress 10% discount codes :).
