Have Applied for 300 Jobs in 3 Months. Still Unemployed

I’ve been with a few recruiting agencies. They mostly put forward my resume to bolster numbers and I now I don’t trust them nor will work with them anymore after being burned by them.

Everything from corporate, retail, hospitality. They go on about a worker shortage but it’s lies. They just don’t want to hire people - particularly the unvaccinated.

    potential reasons:

    1. your resume looks like sh!t
    2. you don't know how to talk during the interview
    3. you have high salary expectations but no experience to back it up
    4. you go on tangents about covid being fake and about how vaccines don't work

5 I wear my “Alex Jones Was Right” tshirt to interviews.

          • @John678: Maybe you are joking but its this sort of humor/attitude that will prevent you getting a job. Alex Jones is evil.

    Next post from Op

‘Have Applied for 600 Jobs in 6 Months. Still Unemployed’

Followed by ‘in my cover letter, I make it clear that I will not support a voice to parliament and your company’s virtue signalling will never change my mind. I just can’t understand why no one will give me a shot’

  • i was looking for a job for 3 months until i landed my current one that ticks all my boxes. i could have found a job first month if i was not so picky, but keep in mind i have experience to back it up. you cant be picky if you don't have experience in your field. example, i wanted a job that pays well, close to home, with a hybrid work from home style, that's exactly what i got after 3 months. my resume is sexy visually stunning, no i wont show it to you. that's what employers claimed anyways

    • It absolutely needs to stand out.

I have a simple rule that seems to work well. If your resume is more than two pages I wont even look at it.

Disclaimer: you can only do this when the job is in demand and you can be picky.

      • mine is one page! same as Cover letter one page

Cover letter absolutely one page max

    • & there's another one

Unemployment rate is at a historical low. Maybe you are the problem, not the job market

    • -4

Incorrect. Employment rate is not accurate.

      • Regardless of its accuracy, it still shows a significant enough decrease to confirm that it is easier than ever before (e.g. since the GFC) to find a job than ever before.

I also work for an organisation that has direct access to data that confirms the accuracy of what we are seeing with the employment rate.

Even if you don't think the historical low unemployment rate means anything, there is also plenty of data showing that the job market in Australia is significantly less competitive than the vast majority of countries out there.

Well I had vax number 6 today. Still no 5g, or cv19. And I have 3 jobs.

      @John678 Dead in 6 months? Man… you're a piece of work.

This has got to be a prank thread… surely?

OP states he is QAnon, Proud Boy, Anti-Vax, and happily advertises a "Vote No To A Voice In Parliament" as his profile pic.
And his multiple responses here are… shall we say, not conducive to good employee material.

If this isn't a prank even if you get a job, once you open your mouth about your beliefs you won't make it past the probationary period.

Major attitude/philosophical adjustment required… character flaws and beliefs that would only cause conflict in most organisations.

You've programmed yourself with beliefs that have alienated you from most of society.

Good luck getting a job… any job. You're going to need it not just to get it, but to keep it.

    • He has stated that he had to get a lawyer to stop being fired from a previous job.

    • Thank you. I
      Will review.

Maybe it's how you present yourself in the interview. Perhaps you come across as entitled, rude or any number of other unlikable personality traits.
I've not hired plenty of people in past because I get the feeling they are going to be problematic, even if their resume is excellent. Personality goes a long way.

    • See my comment above - the OP replied that he bled them for another 10 months. That and his other comments here show his personality and impulsiveness.

      • And then that he laughed all the way to the bank. At least stand by your comments, John.

    • That’s not the case.

  • The thread has run it's cause and the comments are becoming increasingly nasty, thread is now closed, thanks.
